  1. Only $10! Heck, I wasted $10 today just driving my truck around. Where do I go to get this?
  2. I'm gonna dig up my contest idea that I posted last time a thread like this came up. (with some minor changes) Choose a day this month. All entries for the day must have a picture of their odometer posted in the thread via attachment between two times you (Freebird) specify. Finished pic of odometer must be posted as an attachment, again at a deadline of your choosing. Whoever rides their Venture the most miles with a 24 hour period wins. There is a bit of an honor thing since you cannot actually say "start" to all of us. Here's my dollar.
  3. ..but I can just do the spring, right? With the same mileage on my bike, I get slipping in high load passing situations as well. I hate to drop any more money than is necessary. Will I save enough NOT buying the friction plate to make just buying the spring worthwhile? Or is it one of those situations where "since I'm in there anyway and it's only a few bucks more..."
  4. I have a set on my workbench. Pay for shipping and I'll mail them Tuesday. They should fit in a Flat Rate box. $8.95 or so.
  5. Oh...I thought you were inviting us to take a shower with you but to bring our own towels. KIDDING!
  6. No..no...I buffed the snot OUT of it. I threw it away when I was done. Messy stuff...
  7. I'll try chamfering the edge. That's a good idea. Nevertheless, they are going back on when I get the tires replaced. I buffed the snot out of the covers and I don't want the shininess to go to waste.
  8. Depending on what your lifting your bike with it may be easier though. It's quite a task to get to the pinch bolts to adjust the forks. Not sure I'd want the wheel on there when lowering the bike to get the forks to move up in the lower clamp.
  9. http://www.printfree.com/Signs/01Signs/NoSoliciting.gif Now that's just gross...
  10. I removed the rotor covers so that I could polish them up and just put them back on when I spoon on new tires next week. Didn't realize that one of them is weighted (right side) and today's shake down ride showed me why. Braking produced a high frequency vibration noise without the covers installed. Kinda like rubbing your finger around the top of a wine glass to get that humming noise. All the rotor bolts are torqued properly and in sequence. Seems odd that it would make a noise. I've seen pictures of other RSV's here without the covers but have not heard anyone report this noise before.
  11. She's almost back together now. I just don't have the patience for maintenance like I used to. All i want to do is RIDE! I replaced the inner fairing, polished the fork lowers to a brilliant shine but didn't have the patience to really shine the shrouds. Too much sanding to make them smooth for the polishing. Did repack the bearing but left the fork maintenance for another day. I had the thing 75% put together and realized I didn't run the clutch hose the proper way and had to TAKE IT ALL apart again!! If anyone needs to know anything about taking the entire front end apart and putting back together, here's your opportunity. Today made me a pro! Hurry...cause I'll forget in about an hour or so...because I'l be RIDING!!
  12. Holy crap!! $10 for 22% more nitrogen. Air's got the other 78% or something' like that.
  13. So I'm replacing the inner fairing due to some cracks and I thought... Hey! I should check, repack and re-torque my steering head bearings! ...then I thought ...Hey! I should polish my forks & shrouds! ...and then I thought ...Hey! I might as well change all the fluid in them! ...and then I thought ...dang...I wish I could go riding. Maintenance is fun. But only in the winter. And not in Hawaii. What weight fork fluid do I use? Does anyone use heavier than stock with good results. I'm 200lbs.(all muscle, ), usually ride with a trailer, 50% two-up and all the time; way too fast.
  14. I've got leveling links that I don't to remove since I can't find my stock set.
  15. ...that I can only get an Avon front tire in wide whitewall if I go with the smaller sized tire? I don't want the smaller front but want the load capacity of the Avon rear since I trailer often. And I don't want to mismatch tire brands.
  16. I have the front end of my bike removed due to me replacing the cracked inner fairing & replacing the steering stem bearings (since I'm in there...). My fork lower show the 48K of wear and tear and I'm thinking of either getting them and the shrouds polished or chrome plated. Can someone list the pros and cons of either approach? I'm thinking chroming will cost more but is it more durable and less maintenance intensive than polishing?
  17. I'll be more than happy to send you my old bars.
  18. Don't think they would work on a second Gen, right?
  19. I'm not in a big hurry. Wanna just PM when you get back? `````````````` Scott, I shoulda posted this a month ago when I was thinking about it!
  20. I've noticed that my bars are tad bent probably from the PO. I'm going to swap the inner fairing since mine has some cracks and figure this would be the best time to do the bars as well. If you've got one you don't need, could you let me know?
  21. My iPhone goes everywhere with me. Anything else is just too bulky.
  22. So how does the $500 you spent compare with the Flander's "kit" from Buckeye? Can I buy your risers from you? I'd like to try that since I feel I only really need about a inch more pull back. Maybe the risers would save me some dough.
  23. TTT
  24. I could ship it inter-island for about $105 one way, if I recall. Usually folks ship their bikes HERE to ride due to the abundance of roads and lack of stoplights. Kauai is much wetter than here.
