  1. So I ended up getting a piece of thick angle iron and used it as a forward cross member/tongue mounting point. I didn't move the existing one. Thank you for the train of thought, flb_78! I now have about 10" more tongue length. I haven't pulled it yet but am getting ready to go out in a few minutes. It's a beautiful day to ride!
  2. I'll be more than happy to host it!
  3. 1.5" lag bolt! Ouch! I ran over a large straight razor from a carpet knife. Rear tire and in town at 20mph though. I had my 8 year old daughter on back. Here's my gift to you...I think you may need some new ones. http://z.about.com/d/couponing/1/0/6/s/ns_boxers52.jpg
  4. Neat little app and would be good for RSV owner worried about MPG. For autos I recommend a Scan Gauge II. It plugs into your OBDII port and will give you instantaneous MPG, current average, tank average, cost etc. etc. Plus it gives you MANY other real-time gauges that are monitored by your PCM but not always displayed. Such as, air intake temp. "Is that cold-air intake really worth it?" In the case with my Excursion, "No, the air being pulled in is already ambient temp." I can average 2MPG more using it when I just monitor my TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) value. Worth the $159! `````````````` Have you checked out the "g-tac" application for your iPhone? It uses the accelerometer to measure 0-60, 1/4 mile w/speed, 60' times and G's pulled. Pretty neato.
  5. Wow, glad you're okay! Hopefully you put your emergency flashers on as soon as things started to get weird. Did you find out what caused the front tire to lose air?
  6. Squidley, Sorry for the delay in responding. Just wanted to thank you for the link and offer. I finally called them today and they are sending out a pair via US Mail today. Quick and easy! V7Goose, thanks for the link. So there IS one...it's just at the other Venture site. Thanks!
  7. I didn't read all the posts. But did look at the new Voyager. First thought: "Does the world really need another Harley clone??" Second thought: *yawn*
  8. This has now happened to me about 5 times. Whenever a big truck passes me. It never did this before so I think either my trailer's tire pressures may be off or the fact that my trailer is a big ass square. Although it has always been a big square. Lengthening the tongue should help and I'm currently working on that. It only happens when it is unloaded. Once loaded with the 180#'s of stuff I designed my trailer to hold I have no problems. What I found was speeding up would increase the frequency of the oscillations. Slowing down would work but if there are cars behind you flash your brakes. But slowing down too fast will slow the oscillations but make them larger. Meaning more weave but at a slower pace. I found the best thing to do is to turn within your lane to redirect the trailer. This causes it to straighten up behind you.
  9. I gotta use that now.
  10. Ahhhhhh! So move the middle crossmember forward.
  11. Just thought I'd put it out there... If you are trailering and your trailer develops a weave what is the best way to stop it if you are going 50-60mph on a two-lane country road w/traffic behind you? Turn slightly in your lane to redirect the trailer? Brake? Speed up? Let off gas and coast? I know there probably isn't one for sure way depending on conditions but surely there is a wrong way! My trailer started to weave one day after a large truck passed me from the other way going way to fast, plus we had high trade winds that day and the road had a weird track to in that spot. Probably one out of a million as far as conditions go but it made me think... I'll wait and see some answers before I tell how I stopped mine. (not that it is the sure fire way)
  12. Not sure I understand. I have a hitch coupling. I've been towing the trailer for quite awhile now. I've got probably 8-10K towing. Sometimes the trailer gets squirelly in high cross winds or if a truck passes me the other way at a high rate of speed. I figure a longer tongue should help minimize that, right? Just not sure if the swivel hitch adds much length. 10"-12" would be about perfect, I think.
  13. HF! You're right! I was thinking "HarBor freight" instead of Harbor Freight! I editted it. Your trailer turned out very nice!! :happy34: So, your tongue now only bolts to the frontcross member and does not extend all the way back to the middle crossmember? It's only being held on by two bolts?? Or am I reading that wrong?

  15. is there a ready made extension piece for the 2.5" x 2" tongue on the Harbor Freight trailer? If I add the swivel hitch from neosho trailer, how much length will that add and will it fit the 2.5" x 2" tongue?
  16. Can I grease the ball? Do I need to keep it clean to provide a grounding source for the trailer or does the 4-way flat do that?
  17. Okay...so there's NOT a thread about it? I would like to add two round ones. Where can I get them? Installation seems easy enough.
  18. I need to add vent(s) to my windshield. I know there's a thread about it! I just can't find it.
  19. TTT. I swapped out my inner fairing and am still in need of some stock bars if anyone has one. My bars are definitely bent. Bigshell...if you're readin'...I'll send you the ends of my old bars if you still want them.
  20. Until is saves her life...
  21. I like people searching out their own way. That's cool mount. However, I'm always baffled why most of you point the horn sideways!?
  22. Oil is being pulled into the air intake plenum. When you get off your bike and put it on it's side stand it seeps down to the left side of the plenum and out.
  23. Oh...first time I've ever seen it. Don't really care to ever see it again, too! Sorry for the rehash.
  24. 330239615319 http://www.ebay.com Looks interesting. Wonder what he did to the intake system. Lots of ingenuity in that build. I like the cut down stock fairing. Or at least the use of the stock speedo. Not sure if it's a cut down OEM one or not.
