  1. Ditto on Venturedad. He's a great guy to deal with.
  2. I'm a moron. The valve cover bolt was loose. Geez....
  3. Wow Earl, makes perfect sense! While I care about the environment my other vehicle is a Ford Excursion with a V10. Take it for what it's worth. I'll be sourcing a filter here in the next day or two. Thanks for the reaffirmation.
  4. I just went through the thing and cleaned all the oil from the carbs, airbox and that rear part. My oil level is always dead center between the lines but I still get that film of oil on the carbs over a few months period. Everything is clean but last night after a rather long day of riding pulling my trailer I noticed the drip. But I didn't notice that the airbox was oily. I have my other thread addressing the crankcase ventilation. It'd be nice if the two were related. I'm gonna clean it up again and retorque the cover and see what happens. Just didn't know if it was a known issue or not.
  5. Earl, that's what I wanna do! Guess I'm wondering if without vacuum "pulling" the air out of the crankcase will I run into problems or is it positively ventilated due to emissions regulations. ```````` My oil level is dead in the center of the lines.
  6. ...the rear left hand cylinder? It seems to weep from the valve cover and every now and then I see drips on the chrome cover below. It's oily (not too bad) right above the exhaust flange.
  7. Can I get rid of it? I want to remove the breather tube that goes from the crankcase to the intake. Can I remove it and put something in its place like a filter or something? Even with perfect oil level it makes my intake box oily.
  8. Only ones I heard of are the ones that go on the lower leg fairings (or whatever they're called). I'd be interested to hear about these others ones if they exist. Maybe they'll keep my knees from getting soaked in the rain.
  9. Man, I LOVE the title of this thread!
  10. Figured as such. It wouldn't even start tonight. Cranks, lights, no spark. Okay after a little more searchin' I see there are TONS of threads about this. I need to talk to Albertaclipper about this post! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=308450&postcount=10 It's exactly what I want to do!
  11. Link to the whole story http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/10/veterans.health.insurance/index.html?iref=newssearch Sounds fishy. Like there's some behind the scenes political back stabbery happenin'. Read the first sentence and the last. Quite contradictory and from the same Administration. Sounds like somebody's tryin' to hurt the Big O... Fine with me but he's doing a good job of it himself.
  12. Nice hitch! Personally, I like my ball hanging out in the wind.
  13. My ignition switch is acting weird. It only works when IN BETWEEN the ACCESSORY position and the RUN position. It takes a little finagling to get it in the right spot. Then I'm afraid I'm gonna hit a bump and it will fall out of the spot and I'll lose all power. Is there a way to rebuild/refurbish it? I'd kinda like to eliminate it as an electrical source and replace with a discreet switch somewhere. I'd keep it for the lock feature, though. Any thoughts on how to do this? I'd love to have a switch that turns on the brake & running lights for those nights when I pull over on the road. And another to power the ignition...just like the General Lee. ```````````````````` On another vein, I seem to recall mods being done to reduce the electrical load through the switch...can someone help me out with those mods? What they are, how they're done and the benefits. (This is in case I just replace the switch itself.) Thanks gang!
  14. I've had one for 6-8 months now. It is definitely a tighter fit that my original Symax and took a while to break-in. You can buy the cheek pads from a larger size and I would recommened it if it feels too tight when you get it. Mine if an XL and really needs XXL cheek pads. The integrated glasses are cool and just so you know, they will go down farther than the first stop if you keep you finger on the release button and push the slider down some more. My mouth hits to chin bar and it didn't on my original. I like the helmet and it's certainly worth the $$ but I think my next flip-up helmet may be one with integrated Bluetooth. My Scala Rider microphone won't reach to the front of my mouth due to the flip-up design on this one. However, I bet the stock intercom would work fine.
  15. Now that's a nice looking part right there! Great job!
  16. There is no such place as Alagonda. Plus, those two puppies would feed a lot of starving Africans... Send him a recipe.
  17. Not that I would chrome anything on my tank either but I wonder if the finish would look better of the part had been sanded smooth first.
  18. Oi. Someone should clean up all the HTML code in there...
  19. I think the loss of power could be minimal if the diameter was chosen correctly and the pipes that are side by side had a cross over-pipe. if I were to do the job I'd probably try and locate a RS stock exhaust and see if it could be reworked to clear the bags and whatever else may be in the way. But I also think there may be other (read: easier) ways to achieve the sound you're looking for.
  20. Since I fly inter-island a lot, it is nice to know that planes actually float! The picture on the safety placard that shows the plane floating was a always a joke to me. Now it's not.
  21. So many threads about things that have gone wrong or need fixed I thought I'd go the other way. (I do this periodically) Unlike some of you (sorry ) I have the ability to ride year around. And I tell you, this RSV is just rock solid. It always starts, it always goes, it's always smooth, it's always comfortable. It always does whatever I ask of it. It is a fantastic scoot. I just flipped 50K on it. I took one of my daughters out yesterday on a 200 mile ride pulling the trailer (I was working actually). It feels good when all you have to do is concentrate on the road and the scenery and not have to worry about your bike. Here's to you folks in the frozen parts of the Mainland to a quick spring so you can get out and ride your RSV!
  22. 338cfm!?! If I figure it correctly, the RSV draws around 69.7cfm at 6000rpm. Could be wrong though...
  23. I think you meant the "Dorks of Hazzard". What's the story behind that?
  24. I love ingenuity, doing things that others haven't and being original just as much as the next guy. However, I cannot understand why you would undertake this project. Why wouldn't you just use an RSV fairing? It has a radio! Plus it fits over the headlight better. However, I like what you've done so far.
  25. I can't. I'm already married.
