Sounds great. I've been wanting to video favorite rides of mine around the island. Figure there may be some folks out there who would enjoy seeing what I see where I ride. Making it easy and cheap would be beneficial to me. I liked your video! Thanks for the ride. I sometimes miss wide open spaces like that...

How did you make that video? Maybe that's something all of us should do!

Make mine a Ford...

My homemade trailer does that. It's very ghetto though. I have a folding leg from a folding table bolted to the top. I also pull the trailer with my truck when we camp. It becomes our kitchen trailer. When I open the lid 180° and have it stand on the leg I can use the inside of the lid for food prep and serving.

+1 on Westley's Bleche-White. That's what I use on my white walls and all my tires in general. When I run out I use Castol's purple stuff. Like Simple Green but cheaper and easier to find...for me anyway.

Running lights for front of bike

And get an airhorn while you're at it! Then wire it into the high beam so that when you press the horn button the high beam with light up. If that doesn't work, may I suggest one of these mounted to the front fairing. http://www.kitsune.addr.com/Firearms/Machine-Guns/GE_XM214_Minigun-2.jpg -
Temperature / Air Flow - Venture vs RSTD
Monsta replied to bamico's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The tech section outlines a couple of different windshield vents (IIRC). I use two circular ones. To be honest they don't do a whole lot when cracked open so I removed them and put them in my trunk. The two holes vent more than enough air on those hots trips through the desert here and they pop right back in on the wet side of the island. -
I've always questioned having a mechanic that doesn't know the factory specification. I see it more and more...

Only 14lbs. !?! Good Lord. I run 30 unloaded!! You need around 40+ if you're gonna go two up with a trailer. (Max pressure is 57lbs.) I run 38 with just me and my trailer. Dragging the rear like that could spell disaster if those pipes lever you off the ground in an tight corner. Leveling links would be a good investment for those who trailer and ride two up regularly.

That Rhino Tire looks superior to the Ride-On stuff with the exception of the owner being able to install it. :whistling:Which is pretty much everything in my book.
-
The tire sizes are strange enough let alone making them with the newest technology. There are a number of products that you can put in your tires to help minimize flats. Ride-On probably being the most popular.

I'd like those but I already have a custom set. Those are very nice though! I wonder if they would be less prone to breakage or bending if they were bent backwards a bit. Meaning if you look straight at them mounted and visualized a vertical line that follows the fork, bend them back right along that line. Seems the stockers (et al) break due to the air blast that is always on them since they are flat into the wind.

Most cars and trucks have glorified idiot lights acting as gauges. These move to a preset level when temperatures are within a typical range and stay there. One exception (off the top of my head) are the gauges in Chevy trucks. They are real gauges and one of the things I prefer over my Ford truck that has fake gauges. Some of you who are always over 200° need to check out for airflow obstructions or coolant condition. Cruising should have temp values of

I try and park mine so that the kickstand is on a painted line. The footprint is pretty good and the leverage the bike puts on it doesn't seem as hard as other bikes I've owned where the stand is more vertical. That said, it is a good idea to carry something with you just in case. I always have a can with me.

What was playing on the radio when you were going around the track?

Umm...it wouldn't be a neutral safety switch. It would be the clutch safety switch. Some are actually on the side of the tranny. Never seen the Dodge setup.

Just for a bit of perspective.... 'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 25 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage'. > 1955's $0.25 is equal to $1.98 today. 'If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store'. > 1955's $1.00 is equal to $7.94 today. 'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging 7 cents just to mail a letter?' > That $.07 of 1955 is equal to $0.56 today. This is a fun link to compare dollar power from previous years to today. http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm

Ignition switch failure
Monsta replied to jrcain32's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You're not allowed to post with cool thingd such as "smart cards" without giving more details! Please repost so that all may revel in the coolness of YOUR high-tech electronic gadgetry. ````````` I, too, do not understand why someone would carry a bypass switch and not install it. You have to remove the tank to gain access to the wires. NOT something I'd want to do on the side of the road. My bypass switch is wired up and I se it daily until I can repair my switch. My switch still works but it only goes to RUN when strategically placed between ACC and RUN. One bump and it could turn off so I wired up the switch. The switch simply bypasses the RUN part of the key switch. You still start it with the start button. The Key position is irrelevant when the switch is depressed. However, if the key isn't turned to at least ACC you won't have radio functions. I tried to bypass the entire key switch so that my switch would turn on everything at once but that didn't work. Not sure why but I must have not considered one of the wires is a ground or something.
