  1. A hunert bucks?! That's it! Where's ma wallet?
  2. Interesting. Thanks! Wonder why here in the US you have to have KMH shown...
  3. At what age did you retire? Do you just get a company pension or income from your own investments made through the years? Any advice on those investments?
  4. Thank God you had a helmet on in that situation. It's good to talk about it. That can be a traumatic experience no matter how small the crash. Make sure you keep sharing your feelings about it, accept any mistakes on your part, learn from them and share it with other riders. Here's to a speedy recovery.
  5. Hmmmm...maybe it was putting the sparkplug washers on top of the springs (or underneath) that I heard. Would help to "tighten" up the springs. I think maybe I'll try the spring route first. It's mildly annoying when I'm towing. I just avoid the situation described above when possible. It's fine everywhere else. Thanks for the reply.
  6. Is your speedo different? Is it KMH up top (printed) and MPH below in the LCD part? Or is it the reverse like the US model.
  7. 41K, 99, Rotella T 15W/40 w/1K on it. My clutch will only slip in 3rd, at WOT, going up hill. Now I know I can prevent this by NOT going WOT in 3rd up a hill but... I swear when I first starting reading this and the other Venture board that I read something about "tightening" up the clutch plate by using the washers from sparkplugs (which ones I cannot remember) behind the bolts. This prevented the unwarranted slipped. Unwarranted because the friction plates still had plenty of material but due to design it would slip or something to that affect. Does this sound familiar to anyone!? I like cheap fixes but will dial up Barnett's if I gotta.
  8. My intercom plug doesn't allow me to talk through it. I first thought it might be the cable that goes to the helmet, so I switched them around to no avail. I even put a dab of dialectic grease in there thinking maybe a connection wasn't good. Well...a connection isn't good but the grease didn't help. Is there a common fix to this? The plug is quite loose compared to the passenger's plug so I figure something has just moved out of tolerance. Is the plug/wire replaceable? Parts are dealer only? Does this sound like a good time to "sell" the Scala Bluetooth headset idea to my wife?
  9. Are you using a one-man brake bleeder tool? It has a one way valve at the end. It only allows air and fluid to escape but not enter. It's a simple tool but has made swapping fluid a breeze...for me anyway.
  10. That's the thing about motorcycle brakes. They aren't "enclosed" or protected by the wheel like a car/truck brake system is. Diligent maintenance is required at least yearly (IMHO) to keep the pistons clean and free of road grime. I don't know the size and shape of your body but have you tried to move the bars up or won to see if there is a sweet spot somewhere? I know there isn't much "UP" travel...or even down for that matter but it may help. Changing bars means changing all the cables and maybe the lines too. It could get pricey.
  11. On your bike. Where am I? Hint: I was a sniper in the Army. I'm wearing camo. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0f/Rain_forest_NZ.JPG/800px-Rain_forest_NZ.JPG ```````` Guys I wish I coulda saw your face when you realized it wasn't a real bug! I fell for it, too. So much so that I had to put one in my sig.
  12. :rasberry: :rotf: I love that little bug in my sig.... Tuis pugis pignore! `````````````````` BTW, Just to "fix" my earlier post, I use Dot-it's not Tap lights.
  13. As I suspected.
  14. Actually as I understand it a TRUE overdrive is an auxiliary transmission. The RSV has 2 overdrive ratios. 4th is .90:1 and 5th being .75:1 or something like that I don't have the exact numbers next to me. Can someone correct me with my terminology if need be? I see the term "true overdrive" used elsewhere...is there a "false overdrive"?
  15. I used industrial strength Vecro to put my Tap Light on. I can take it off easily and use it as a flashlight. Those Costco lights are nice! I was looking at them yesterday. The Tap lights are a bit smaller though.
  16. TTT
  17. Mine, too. Too many low fuel warnings lights and such to actually justify a reserve position. You gotta warning light, a fuel gauge & count down trip meter. Last thing I need is to take my hands off the bars and fumble around with a petcock.
  18. Just another opinion... I installed leveling links. I can do circles with the bar at full lock now. Before I woulda crashed. What part of the handling don't you like? Low speed? High speed sweepers? Somewhere in between?
  19. Hey, that's a neat idea!
  20. Hmmmm....yeah...shoulda typed Venture instead. My mistake. But I think everyone knew what I meant. My new contest idea is a picture contest voted on by the Moderators here. Rider submit a photo of their VENTURE ( ). The one that captures the judges eye the best wins. However, this will excluded those Mods who help keep this site what it is. May not be really fair to leave them out of the prize...
  21. I'd keep an eye on it and would also move the petcock every now and then. My guess is that the rubber got hard and took a little while to change shape. The gas probably swelled the rubber back up and stopped the leak.
  22. Choose a day this month. All entries for the day must have a picture of their odometer posted in the thread via attachment between two times you (Freebird) specify. Finished pic of odometer must be posted as an attachment, again at a deadline of your choosing. Whoever rides their RSV the most miles that particular day wins. There is a bit of an honor thing since you cannot actually say "start" to all of us.
  23. $70.00 http://www.neoshotrailers.com/options.html
  24. bar836, PICS! juggler, good idea!
  25. Is there a source for turned down tips for stock pipes? When I pull my trailer and really get on the gas I can smell the exhaust fumes. I think it is because they "hit" the front part of my trailer's enclosure and get mixed up in the swirl. Wondering if turned down tips would help.
