The more expensive ones will write to the disc faster. Better for shooting HD or 4K video. Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk

Great way to ring in the new year. Weather... usual Michigan crap with a dose of whitewash from @Flyinfool. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fTVJyvaBuk

Sorry to be late to the party guys but it was also a pleasure meeting all of you this year as well too. I'm a little late for the Merry Christmas wishes but indeed have a wonderful, safe and joyful new year. I'm sure we see each other sometime in 2016!

Garage door opener mounted
stanG replied to SteveP's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I did this a few years ago on my 1st gen. Since I don't have the stock radio, I wired the remote to the momentary switch for the radio that was already on the handlebars. I believe it was used by the stock radio to change channels. I tucked the remote into the left side fairing. Works great. -
There has also been discussion on this via this thread and the position of the bike when checking... whether on stand or not. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?106183-Oil-Warning-Light&highlight=sight+glass

Although @Chaplain Dusty grabbed himself a decent bike from Approval Powersports and suffered the consequences of the $300 document fee, I have previously warned all here to make sure you are not getting the shaft from them. This is a perfect example of what I was talking about: http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/mcd/5242705507.html It seems they are still trying to sell his bike, AGAIN. This a NEW Craigslist post from 9-28-15. The catch is they wont tell you the bike is gone and then when you get there, they'll try to up-sell you something else. Just a heads up for all here.

Not to rain on your parade of discussion of LED dash lights and such but I was referring to the photo of the wires soldered together from the reserve lighting unit. The color codes of the wires. As for replacing all incandescent bulbs with LED... been there, done that. ALL the bulbs on my bike are LED.
-
I recently upgraded to this bulb from the 2800lm bulb available from Canadian Cruiser. I never was real happy with the old bulb as it was great on low beam but didn't get out much farther when you put it on high beam. This one, on the other hand, is a significant improvement and gets out there even better than the Silverstar Ultra that I have also used. Nice bright white light and a good pattern. If you are thinking about LED this is a very good option at a reasonable cost. I bought mine directly from Opt-7 for 55 bucks with free shipping. Installation was simple plug and play as I had already had jumpered the CMU and reserve lighting unit. I also run a set of Rigid Dually floods mounted on some custom brackets at the horn location. Since I ride to work at 4:30am each day, this combo lights up the road real well. Here is a photo of the brackets I fabbed up of 1/4x1" aluminum then polished out.

Lol. There is also a Podunk in Michigan northeast of Grand Rapids. I thought I better get out of there fast so I didn't stop to take a picture last time I was there. Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk

Don't ya love it when a plan comes together! -
Well I had a nice little chat today with Mr. Konn the previous owner of the bike. Real nice guy and a huge Venture fan. He was a former member of the Venture Touring Society. The bike has indeed 20000 miles on it. He said there were no issues with the bike when Powersports got it other than the front fork seals may have been leaking and the carbs needed to be cleaned as the bike had sat for several years. This was the third Venture that Mr Konn owned having previously owned two 84's. The second of which was stolen leading to his purchase of the 88 brand new in the crate in 1991. The second 84 was recovered but trashed but he did show a low mileage COMPLETE with carbs motor that he saved out of it that he is storing. Mr. Konn took many long trips with this bike until while riding with a group of 5 Ventures and 2 Goldwings a member of their group was cut-off by an errant driver and killed. He didn't say specifically but I think this incident ended his riding career. Powersports ended up with the bike when Konn was making a deal on an atv. FYI they gave him 700 bucks for it so they have that plus the cost of fork seals, a rear tire and a carb cleaning into it. If Chaplain Dusty has any questions for Mr. Konn he would happy to take his call. He gave me his number and rather than just throwing it out there you can PM me and I will pass it along. Of course I mentioned that would have easily given him a $1000 for it I had known he wanted to get rid of it LOL. "Have fun out there" stanG

Would not make a difference to me.

I would have to say that this is likely a 20Kmi bike. One thing I noticed is that the previous owner had moved the storage bags from in front of your knee to the handlebars. It looks like he had something else mounted near the top of the side vents where the bags were on both sides as I found a couple of screw mounts on each side. Based on the condition of the plastic I would have to say the mileage is accurate. Still working on finding the previous owner. I have the address and will buzz out there later today.

So I went down to take look at it and it appears to be solid. The paint is all good and there only seems to be a couple of suspect tabs on the plastic that may need some repair. One is on the right side vent (by your leg) and the other may be a lower one on the rear of the right side cover. Brake pads and rotors look pretty good and the brakes do no seem to have any stickyness. Tires are more than adequate for a 1600 mile trip the rear is pretty new and the front has some wear but has at least a few thousand miles left in it. The guy said that the previous onwers had it in the garage for some time and that they went through the carbs. Now... They would not let me take it for a ride saying that because of their insurance requirements they could not allow this unless the bike had been paid in full. So I cant tell about how it runs or anything else like that. Cosmetically it is in great shape. As for the previous owners, I am not familiar with that name but I can do some checking. Here are some pics:

I have seen this rig at a car show in Sandusky, MI a few years back. It's a sweet build. Sounds good too.
-
Yeah they are right in the town where I work. I have been told to watch them closely as they may try to pull a fast one on you. Don't count on em for parts or service. That said, they do move a lot of motorcycles out of there. My suggestion would be a good long test ride on any used bikes to make sure everything is OK. Would be happy to check out a scoot for you.

Just completed a 1600 mile ride to the UP of Michigan and averaged 49 mpg. The only mod is Skydoc's carb needle spacer kit. Did a carb sync about three years ago. I'm afraid to do another one since it's running so good. One tank on the trip I had 55 mpg. I had 193 miles and the light had not come on. Normal day to day I am about 43mpg.

I have been using the Rotella T-6 for three years no with no issues and the gallon jug is about perfect for an oil/filter change.

Anybody have a CLASS control they want to part with?

Just what were you using as a search key? I've tried several different combinations with no luck so far.
