  1. It's an old saying, but simply put...
  2. Looks like the dog is thinking WTF!!!
  3. Concur 100 percent!
  4. You go! @Flyinfool Can't wait to hear more about this!
  5. As those of you from Michigan know, we get boned on insurance here. We're the only state in the country that has mandatory unlimited catastrophic coverage, which by the way, they just hiked that another 10.00 per vehicle per year to 170.00. Sooooo... basic PL/PD on my 83 Venture is around $400.00 per year! arrgh! By the way, Michigan is also the most expensive state to own a car. Any of you Michigan guys know where I can get a better deal let me know!
  6. I think you are all missing the point here. I think the question is... Just what kind of super secret stuff is within the confines of that cover that the guru's at Yamaha wanted to prevent you from getting your greasy little fingers on? Little pieces of rubber that are prone to perforation? "Slinky" springs that will likely careen across your shop when set free? Tubular devices specially designed to get stuck at the most inopportune time and leave your VR running like crap? Pointy little needle thingies? Microscopic "c" clips and spacers that get lost on the floor of your shop? I've often pondered the need for the "wheel lock" and my conclusion is "WTF". I went over the top and replaced all the screws with stainless Allen head. Now if I could just find my Allen wrench........
  7. Wheels down and prayers up my friend!
  8. Well I guess I'm not the only one who has had trouble recently shipping a gun. I shipped this model 11 Remington 20 gauge to my cousin in Arizona about six weeks ago. It was his dad's who was killed in a car accident. This is how it arrived.... http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161223/8794a370ee478d2fb1e2b720860e41f4.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161223/399e3291a1c5cbbaff6b1b5b182abd1f.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161223/382bbbb24f4ee52247a1748f40dbad70.jpg Their response... Insufficient packaging... Denied! So far they have ponied up seven hundred and change for a new barrel and other repairs to the stock. Seems like it's almost deliberate for damage like this to occur. It took a certified letter to the CEO of UPS to honor my claim.
  9. Hey Pucster.... Hang in there buddy. We've got some dogs to eat this summer!
  10. Winter storage.... That period usually between November and April here in Michigan when you pay your motorcycle insurance while your bike sits idle in the shed.
  11. Awesome snyp! 1st gen rules!
  12. Wishing you a quick recovery. Having launched from my first gen back in September I know it's no picnic. I was lucky and didn't break any bones. Prayers up and heal fast Heather.
  13. Yes, I have re-soldered all the joints on the board in addition to the ones indicated in the repair. The controller's readout is mostly blank except you can lightly see a portion of the data and it will not activate the pump. Anyone else have any ideas on any other followup troubleshooting? I did plug in the controller from my bike to confirm it was the control unit and the system worked perfectly.
  14. Hey you guys out there with 1st gen parts bikes... Anybody have a working CLASS control that they would want to part with? I have a friend with an 89 that would be willing to pay a reasonable price for one. I have checked ebay and found one but I thought I would check here first.
  15. ThanksVets.bmp Enough said.
  16. Here's a guy from my call in show from last year's time change. Classic... https://youtu.be/lwPsk3JzSkw
  17. Well the Venture is ready to ride and I am nearly healed up as well. Just a couple small areas where the epidermis has not yet completely regenerated
  18. It was Christmas at stanG's house on Saturday.
  19. Working on a friend's 89 and did the battery bypass with the resistor as I did years ago on my 83 (worked great on my 83). Battery icon and red flashing light are still active. Am I missing something here? I tried several values of resistor from 1k to 22k ohms. Is there a way to deactivate this right on the circuit board? I found this bike with the sensor already removed from the end of the wire so I am thinking the PO probably tried to do something here, I'm just not sure what.
  20. I saw them yesterday, but I am not seeing them today. Only popped up when clicking on the "articles" tab
  21. Good to go on the mirror. Everything else ok. Thanks guys. "Have fun out there" stanG
  22. Thanks for all the well wishing everyone. I'm happy to report that the road rash is healing up well and I am down to just one gauze pad on the arm to cover up a couple deep spots near my elbow. Foot is still a little gimpy but I expect it will back to fully functional in a week or so. As far as the bike is concerned, @cowpuc here is what I need to get the repair done: Upper fairing panel-left side - blonde Upper fairing vent-left side Left front crash bar Left rear crash bar Left turn signal assembly Left footpeg and shifter Considering how hard it went down and how far it slid on the tarmac really not that bad. (both me and the bike)
  23. Glad to see that you are getting the much needed "periodic maintenance". As a 1st gen rider, I know that sometimes there is the need to turn to "aftermarket" parts to improve performance when "stock" parts are no longer available. Heal well my friend! "Have fun out there" stanG
  24. I would just replace "wine" in number 7 to "beer"
  25. Bingo! Thanks guys!
