I went HID 6000k. It is a little work wiring it in but now it's like driving in daylight. I will never go back and all my buddy's demand I be in the lead at night so they can see:Venture: -

I have not changed mine on my RSV but I did have Works shocks on my Yamaha Grizzly quad and they were great. I know they are pricey but many times you do get what you pay for. I'm not saying the Hagon is bad and is most likely an upgrade from stock but Works is a fine product. -
Congrats!!! the Goldwing is a great upgrade to the RSV. I like the looks of the RSV better but the Wing is a much more refined design and handles like a dream.

I have riden a RSV with the clutch whine and it can be almost like a siren. Mine fortunately doesn't have it but many here have addressed the issue and Yamaha may be a source for a solution as they have acknowledged the problem. If you can get it resolved this is a very fine touring machine. Don't lose heart, it is fixable

Champaign and Black Venture on Cleaveland Ave. and Schrock rd. around 7:30 a.m. with a big black rider that made this bike look small. I don't know if you are a member here but wanting to add to our central Ohio circle here. Please respond

I gotta admit I have never heard of engine braking as being harmful either. I was always taught (by my father who was a truck driver) this was the proper way to descend steep inclines and save your brakes. I am interested to hear the reasoning on this.

Excellent choice!! I'm very happy with mine. I have the 18" Stratoliner front wheel so I was able to get a matched set. About 5000 miles so far and they are wearing very well (much slower than the Venoms I had previously

The K&N recharge kit comes with a bottle of cleaning fluid and a spray can of oil. The process is very simple. Just take off your air filter, spray cleaning fluid liberally on the outside of the element, let it set a couple minutes, spray cleaner again, wait a couple minutes then with mild water pressure spray from inside out until water coming through is clear. If at this point the element is still dirty then repeat process, if not let it dry completely before applying oil. The only trick to the oil is do not over apply, just a light coat is all that is needed to the outside only. I have had very good experience with K&N, I even ran one almost 500k before I sold the truck and it still worked fine. I have them on the RSV and my new truck also.

60% and below I ride without question. Nowadays with weather radar on your phone you can steer around most storms and big rain. Don't be scared, even if you have to wait out a major system just consider it part of the MC experience. As stated though, have rain gear on you just in case:fingers-crossed-emo

I had the Venoms previously. The bike handled very well with them and gripped the corners awesomely. I didn't get very good mileage out of them, rear maybe 8000. I switched to the Commander II because I read they are supposed to be higher mileage, maybe 5000 ml so far and look to be wearing slower:fingers-crossed-emo -
The 1300cc motor in the FJR is an inline 4cyl it puts out in the neighborhood of 145hp. My brother has one and I have riden it. The FJR is a great ride, very sporty but a very comfortable seat with an upright sitting position, power windshield, the new one has cruise control and electronic suspension adjustment. I would consider one strongly when I buy

Good on you Eck!! One or more of these kids will someday be the guy on the block that you are because they knew you. My father was not mechanically inclined at all but I learned from local farmers that I worked for and anyone that would teach me. I know what I know from guys like you:thumbsup2:

I'm teaching my wife right now, I can honestly say nothing has been scarier for me. As long as she is comfortable let her go and be proud. My wife still is going to do the Riders Edge Course here in Ohio. I think the more training the more she will be prepared for those situations that can get the inexperienced rider. I am emphasizing one thing at a time so it will be second nature to her. I find it most challenging to translate what I do automatically into words but Heather seems to learning fast so maybe it's coming accross accurately. Your wife is an inspiration

Heather got some parking lot time in today. She is learning the controls and how to operate the clutch. She did really good, maybe tomorrow we will continue with 1st gear maneuvers and if that goes well might shift to 2nd. I'm trying to go slow and drill each thing until it's second nature.
