  1. Stock features, $(mine & the cost), warranty, looks, RSV reputation, attitude.
  2. I like those Vlaks. A guy near me has the black/red and it is a sweet machine. That's a rsv with a hot rod motor. Good find.
  3. You have opened a good point that us 1300 cc riders hear from time to time ("but that big bike just has 1300 cc!). Just reply that yes it is 1300 but be advised it is a 4 cyl. that is carrying 97 hp. As has been stated, comparing a 4cyl 1300 to a bigger cc v twin is not a compatible comparison. Your 1300 is nothing to be ashamed of and is very capable of eating many larger v twin cc's lunch.
  4. This post remindes us to put things in prospective. Also, we can be guilty of bad mouthing "cagers" but we need to remember that we are all cagers. I almost cut a motorcyclist off changing lanes a couple weeks ago. It was dusk, in town with streetlights on and I simply didn't see him. I happen to see his light reflecting on the road out my window. He was in the blind spot in my mirror. I always try to be careful and watch for motorcycles especially since I ride and know the dangers. The truth of the matter is though that all us "cagers" can do things in our cars/trucks that are dangerous for riders. Of course that is different than being reckless which is a whole different matter. But-----let's remember that we are all "cagers" when we complain and are not immune to messing up.
  5. For all you West Virginia members and riders I just finished an 800 mile, 3 day tour of the Marlington/Snow Shoe Mountain area. We followed the designated routes that are laid out and that is some beautiful country. There were six of us in all including a HD, GW, GW trike, BMW, Kawasaki, and my RSV. All bikes were flawless in the total 2000 mile trip. Met some nice folks, ate some good food in small town restaurants (no fast food) and enjoyed the temps in the 70's/low 80's in the mountains. I recommend the area to ride. Pictures may be coming. Hats off to West Virginia for making motorcycling touring inviting.
  6. I noticed where some could not get in the Edlewise Inn for the Eureka Springs M&E next week. I have had to cancel my reservations so I thought I'd let anyone know that might be interested in a room there. Maybe next year for me. Enjoy.
  7. A lot of it depends on the person and how they view things. My interest does not include looking for things to work on my rsv but I do maintain it, not to the extent that some do but oil, filter, etc. yes. I don't care about leveling links, lowering kit, yada, yada, yada. I don't add "safety chrome" but I have added lighting, a trunk rack, back rest as I get use out of those. That's my style, Some buy to modify but I find good riding in almost stock. Not knocking those who do all that is posted but we all don't do that and so far have had no problems. It has to do with personalities as much as mechanics.
  8. Little Johnny must be like 65 now and still in the 3rd grade. He was pulling the same pranks when I was a kid !
  9. I would like one 9". Give me the price & address and I'll send you a check. Thanks. Bill Kinsey, 560 Eagle Rd., Sedalia, Ky. 42079
  10. If you have time ride part or all (60 miles) of the Trace through Land Between The Lakes. The north end is at Grand Rivers, Ky. and it runs south to Dover, Tn. From Dover you could head west crossing the Mississippi River at Dyersburg, Tn. ,through the bootheel of Mo. and into Arkansas. Nice riding.
  11. My vote is to keep classifieds out of the forum posts. I personally don't want to scan all the classifieds to see what the "talk" of the day is. If I needed something I'd check classifieds. My 2c.
  12. :buttkick:OK JOE AND DONNA THE GLOVES ARE OFF! I thought that was in the "file 13 drawer" but I guess anything in the web world is never file 13. The only thing I will agree to is that the ride wasn't fast enough! Now, let me check my picture file!
  13. I can't imagine all you tech gurus not catching this. His former RSV was an 06. We all know those are the fastest! Even including the 1st gens!
  14. I was in Eureka Springs, AK. a couple years ago and bought a nice leather jacket for $25 in the leather shop downtown. I can't remember the name of the shop but I believe they do ship. Probably a little higher now but I am very pleased with the quality, especially compared to some name brands that are $100 +. I'm sure someone on here knows the name of the shop.
  15. Abernathy's is about 40 minutes from me and I plan on riding over there next week for some supplies. I'll check it out. That is where my 06 came from.
  16. Very nice Dennis & Valerie. Enjoy!
  17. Hey Bob. By the way, Hannigan's had a big fire yesterday. They say they'll be back and running in the future. Bill
  18. We could learn alot from the Japanese society. I recently had a family member return from a visit to Japan and they commented on how noticeably friendly and helpful the people were and how clean their country was. They noted that they saw absolutely no trash on the ground anywhere, not so much as a gum wrapper. We as a whole are a sloppy society and are more about government handouts than pride as a people. The above posts are well said!
  19. I'm guessing it starts with a "B" and ends with a "W" and has only 3 letters. But Dennis, if you get away from an RSV what are you going to do with all the cassette tapes????
  20. I was going to buy a GW when I was ready for a touring bike but decided on the RSV for a few reasons such as: Style, I just liked the looks better, $$$ had features that the GW had for less money plus a CB radio stock, Comfort, with a bum knee I needed something I could stretch out on more than the GW allowed, Warranty, 5 years got my attention. I like the bike and the 4 cylinder 1300 gives plenty of power for two up. My wife likes the second seat much better than the cruiser we had prior to the RSV. I have had zero problems with my 06 and would make the same choice again.
  21. Camping and horse trail riding. Trail riding has some of the same good aspects as motorcycling. The scenery, the get away and you meet lots of good folks.
  22. Ken, I'd think twice about the 404. I only got about 6000 miles on the one I tried. Went to an E3 next. I was disappointed in the 404. It got 8000 less miles than the 404 that came on the bike new. Replacement 404's evidently aren't the same quality as OEM.
  23. :sign chill out:At ease gentlemen! All I can say is I was glad to see those F4's coming out of DaNang (AF), glad to hear the 16's from off shore (Navy) and the jarheads were good to have around (MC). All helped save my butt a few times. (FB Linda, 196th Inf. VN)
  24. I'll be looking for an 06 bc Venture ---- oops, I've got one so I guess I'll just keep it.
  25. I have never owned anything other than a Honda so I can't accurately compare but obviously I am completely satisfied with Honda. I am on my second 4 wheeler in 20 years and presently own a Honda Foreman 4 x 4. It works and plays on our farm and has been very dependable. This one is a 2001 and has never been back to the repair shop.
