I've been pondering the same thing. My 06 RSV has double the miles yours has and the only thing I've had to do to it other than routine maintenance is replace the fuel pump relay. I like my bike and the amenities it has such as CB (won't mention tape deck). If Yamaha would come out with an upgraded RSV I think I'd be in the market. Our local Honda shop has a left over new 15 GW for 19,400. It is black and silver and gets my attention. No doubt GW sets the standard in many areas in touring. Like other have said, test ride one or better yet if you have a riding buddy that has one maybe you could take a day ride and swap out. I'm back and forth on pulling the trigger on a GW but for now I think I'll keep the 06 for awhile. Another thing is that around here it seems everybody rides a Harley or GW and I like being a little different. Bill

The windshield on my 06 is getting close to needing to be replaced. I have read some posts and it seems Clearview is often used. Any feedback on Clearview or any other brands is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I did not mention that when trying to crank it I did take the fuel cap off the tank thinking it might be an air issue.

I have an 06 RSV. The last two times I have ridden it shuts itself down starving for fuel after about 70 miles. It isn't the fuel pump that I know without going into detail. (spare pump tried) Also the fuel filter is new. After tinkering with it and not really doing anything it will crank up after about 25 minutes and run perfect the 70 or so miles back home. Any ideas from you gurus on what could be going on? Thanks. Bill

Have a friend whose Can Am was doing something similar. Loose belt.

I live in Sedalia and you are so correct! Podunk is just south of us, but don't blink going through.

Each week, weather and schedules permitting, we put together a group ride from our local area. Our primary day is Thursday with Friday as an alternant. Since a lot of any ride is about eating we do a breakfast ride in hot weather and a lunch ride in cooler weather. I have a group e-mail list that goes out with ride info. early each week. In our group we have Harley, Can Am, Honda, Yamaha, Victory, BMW, Kawasaki and any other may pop in. There is usually 6 - 8 bikes, sometimes more. Some are retired, some semi-retired and some ride on a day off. The age range is 40's to late 70's. It is something we look forward to each week with a good bunch of guys with good, clean fellowship. We have a ride captain that puts together the routes so we don't stand in the parking lot trying to decide where we are going. Anyone else do something similar? I recommend it. PS got the "brain" back in the RSV and it is good to go. Bill

Thanks to those of you who gave suggestions on what to check for. The problem has been found and it is a new one on me and I have not seen any like this before out of an RSV so beware. The computer (brain) that controls the fuel pump among other things has gone bad. I have two choices of repair, a new one from Yamaha for $800 or a used one from a wrecked RSV for $200. Since a Yamaha mechanic of 18 years said this was the first time he has seen this happen on an RSV I am going to play the chances and go with the used one for $200. Hope it stays healthy until I'm ready to get rid of the 06 for an upgrade.

My 06 (40,000 miles), after a week road trip, sit in the garage for about a week. Went to crank it and noticed that I didn't hear the usual click, click, click of the fuel pump when I turned the key on and it wouldn't start. So, after reading up on the problem on this forum I have changed the fuel filter (still nothing), changed the fuel pump points (still nothing), changed the fuel pump with an oem, took off the gas cap for possible ventilation problem, and it still acts like it is starving for fuel. It can sit awhile and crank and run fine for a minute and then the fuel starving begins. When I try to throttle up it won't and will eventually starve out and go dead. Sounds like fuel to me but I'm at wits end. Thanks. Bill ps Also, I'll add this but I don't see how it can be related, the ignition switch has gotten a little tricky to turn on. Thanks again for any suggestions.

Six of us (2 Can Ams, 1HD, 1F6B, 1 1300 V Star, an me on my RSV) spent this past week loop riding out of Harrison, Ark. Although remnants of tropical storm Bill moved in we had a good week, only getting soaked once. The temps were very pleasant with little day time rain. We followed the recommended rides from the pamphlet I received combining some of them for more riding. Beautiful riding with lots of scenic overlooks and good food. If you have never ridden this area I recommend it. Bill

There is a super nice 2007 (I believe) white Goldwing trike going up for sale in my area (W. Ky. about 20 miles from Hannigans) It is being sold due to the recent death of owner. I don't know any details such as price, etc. but I can put you in contact if you want to check it out. pm me if any interest.

The BPW is a nice ride if you like riding curves although it does straighten out more on the north end. My style is riding slow enough that I can enjoy the scenery with stops along the way. I spent two days on the parkway and am glad I did. Mt. Pisgah Inn is a good place to visit for scenery and I stayed one night at the Little Switzerland Inn in Little Switzerland which is neat with a nice restaurant next door. You can get a detailed map of the parkway free from the BPW headquarters by going on line and they will send you a packet of other interesting places as well. There are a ton of places to stay close to the parkway so I wouldn't worry about making reservations unless you know you are going to stay at a certain place, especially one of the Inns on the parkway. Close by the parkway I visited Grandfather Mountain and enjoyed that. I also got off a few miles to go to Shatley (sp?) Springs where I stayed in a nice cabin for $40. There is a really good restaurant there also. Expect some rain and thick fog when in the mountains which I experienced one day off and on. Hope you enjoy the ride and be safe.

Sounds like he has thin skin or no skin at all. I have never, not once, thought that you bashed any brand. Some people are too sensitive. Hey, for me it's all about riding a bike, not a brand. To each his own.

Also, remember how patriotic and religious the country became after that. I have never seen anything even close to those sentiments that lasted a few months then begin to fade. Flags flew everywhere, displayed on vehicles, clothing and businesses unlike anytime since WW2. That part of it was invigorating to say the least.

Need some advice, please...
Ky. Rider replied to hmedina's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I wouldn't give that for it because I think a better deal on a Venture with less miles and a complete bike can be found. My advice, keep looking. Used Ventures are typically cheaper than they should be. -
FYI I just changed the rear E3 on my 06 and got a shade less than 17000 miles. Replaced with another E3. 20% 2 up.

You likely cooked the battery. My bet is that you will replace it because it won't hold charge. I've experienced the same before by leaving a charger on too long.

AMEN to the above. Their grilled shrimp is way too tasty also.

If you both allow it this will cause your marriage to be stronger than it has ever been. You reached an understanding that too often is missed with couples in peril. Now both of you know how much you mean to each other so take that and allow it to grow. You won the battle that Satan threw at you so don't let him ruin the future with doubts. Now you will never take each other's love and dedication lightly and your love will be on a plateau higher than before. Congratulations to both of you and your airing your trouble took a lot of fortitude and I admire you for that as well as your commitment to your marriage. May God bless you.

Well said! Political correctness is ruining our country, among other things. Hopefully what happened in that school isn't the norm. I'd like to think that wouldn't happen around my area but one never knows. I was a school principal (now retired) but also a Viet combat vet and I can assure you we would and did practice patriotism in our school including the Pledge of Allegiance daily. That decision in Colorado makes me boil and was made by a spineless individual!

Right back at you Freebird and everyone else that comes to this forum. May your next year be filled with happiness and good health. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Well said. We can get a little too touchy/feely on this subject. Frankly, for me I am a Christian and I don't get upset if someone says Happy Holidays to me. I just consider that to include Christmas and New Years and the days in between.
