  1. Still riding weekly in Ky. If we get a day each week in the 50"s we are good to go. That will soon change though in mid Dec. for a couple of months as the temps drop.
  2. Great pictures and nice RSV. Thanks for posting. I have an Army buddy that lives in Sault Ste. Marie. I would like to get up that way sometime.
  3. Put an E8016S fuel pump from CARQUEST for $65 on my 06 about 2 yrs. ago. Works fine so far.
  4. Dropping this one will cost you more than $5. I don't see any crash bars. I like the style and upgrades but wish it had a V4. I don't know if I see one in my garage or not. I still like my 06. FYI though, my 06 just toasted the regulator/rectifier at 54.400 miles. Beware.
  5. Had one about 8 yrs. on my 06 without a problem with cracking, etc. Use it on trips and also have 2 small flags mounted to it. Measure twice, drill once. I like the OEM rack.
  6. I have mentioned this before but after our ride this week I want to share this again. We are fortunate to have a lot of good riding in our area of W. Ky., W. Tn., S. Il., and E. Mo. We have a riding group where most of us are retirees or semi-retired. We try to ride once a week usually 130 - 180 miles and include rest stops and lunch. We leave mid morning and back by mid afternoon. We have a ride captain that maps out all the rides. Riders are sent an e-mail informing them of the day and time. We usually have 6 - 10 riding. When the weather gets too hot to enjoy lunch rides we do breakfast rides. While I enjoy touring, these rides are some of the most enjoyable times spent riding. We have a good group of guys riding all brands with no drama or testosterone issues. Our breaks and lunch times are filled with laughs and the rides are not to see how fast we can get from A to B. I have all the e-mail addresses of the riders included in the "riders contacts" where one e-mail goes out to all. I'm sharing this to encourage you to get together a riding group and enjoy the weekly rides as we do. We schedule the day according to the weather forecast for the week. We started doing these rides about 6 - 7 years ago. If you are already doing something similar I'd like to hear about it. Have fun and stay safe and if you are ever in our "neck of the woods" give me a shout and your schedule might just mesh with one of our rides. Bill K.
  7. I've got a riding buddy that has an F6B and he loves it. I like them as well and will consider one or a GW for my next ride even if Mama Yamaha gets back in he touring market which I don't think is going to happen. Although, an updated 3rd gen RSV would be nice to consider.
  8. My thoughts exactly! I got a chuckle when I read your reply.
  9. I had one to stick last fall on my 06 while riding. I could smell gas and stopped to see it running out. I stopped by a parts store, gave it a good dose of Seafoam and then rode it with the petcock off until it started cutting out. Then, cut the petcock back on and problem was solved. Hasn't happened again as of yet.
  10. WOW! Now I understand.
  11. Don't know what you have against Color Rite because I used their black cherry about a month ago and it was a perfect match.
  12. I had to replace the fuel pump sending unit (not the same as the fuel pump) on my 06 that was causing it to shut down periodically. After it would cool for 15 - 20 minutes it would be good to go for awhile. Similar to your problem so it seems but if not that I do believe it is fuel related.
  13. I recently had a repair/repaint on my front faring where I was hit by a non-attentive driver. I ordered the paint from Color Rite to match my 06 black cherry. The match was perfect. Also, I installed a new windshield to replace the stock windshield from Clear View Shields and I really like the new shield. The new shield is close to stock which is what I wanted and the quality is excellent. Also, my 06 has recently been given the 47.000 mile going over service (carbs, splines, valves, etc. and I hope it is good to go for awhile. I considered trading ( I like the Indian Roadmasters) but I really am a fan of the 4 cyl. RSV. If mother Yamaha comes out with a new RSV I'll consider an upgrade. The only thing I didn't do is clean the cassette tape deck (ha, ha) that has never been used. Anyway, a plug in for Color Rite and Clear View. Happy trails. Bill
  14. I found mine on Ebay.
  15. P O cut the heel part off on mine. Works fine.
  16. If the wives don't want to ride the dragon I don't think they or you will like the Devil's Triangle. Just rode it about a month ago and although I rode the Dragon also and am not a fan of that type riding I prefer the Dragon over DT. We stayed in Townsend and loop rode for 3 days. Ride maps are available with planned routes but riding through the park is nice as well. Maggie Valley, Cherohala, Blue Ridge, Cherokee, all of those are nice.
  17. Likely a short inside the front faring. That happened to mine and that's what the cause was. Anything that comes and goes like that is usually a short in the circuit due to a broken wire or bad connection.
  18. As a Vietnam combat vet I'm no Clay fan. He was a draft dodger plain and simple!
  19. Yes, it is the one that goes on the side crash bar by the saddlebag on a 2nd. gen. I got side swiped in the middle of my lane by a girl on a cell phone. Luckily it only knocked the paint off part of the fairing and something knocked the reflector off. The car hit me with the retractable mirror but I managed to stay upright. Thanks Jonas. Take care. Bill K.
  20. If anyone has the rear side red reflector with base for my 06 they would part with I am interested. Thanks. Bill
  21. I may get the award for the most recent. This past Sunday I was riding on a hilly road and met a car that was at least two feet over the center line. The driver was looking at her phone. I had maybe 1 second to react as she kept veering over. Her mirror hit my faring and something broke the red reflector on the crash bar. The impact broke her mirror. She said she didn't know what she hit until she looked in her rear view mirror. The bike stayed steady and it happened so fast it didn't scare me. The faring will need some repaint but luckily it did not crack. It did break the mounting bracket that holds the faring and chrome strip tight. My dash has a hair line crack but shouldn't amount to anything. I was lucky and am thankful it didn't take me down. Another 2 inches over and she would have taken me out. When something hits that red reflector that's pretty darn close. Bill
  22. The simple fact of the matter is that it has a lot to do with the "Harley attitude" some have. I've been told more than once that if it isn't a Harley it isn't a real motorcycle. Hence, smoking one with any other bike becomes a pleasure. That attitude isn't all inclusive but much more so than the other brands. "Smoking a Victory" just isn't as satisfying.
  23. These bikes also have a fuel pump relay. I had to replace mine but the symptoms were it would shut down for 15 - 20 minutes and then be good to go again.
  24. On the bike.
  25. Local shop charges $60 to change a rear on my RSV. Front is $50.
