  1. I've got to go with Silent Night because of the memories. Anyone on here got to attend one of the Bob Hope USO shows in Vietnam? I was at the one in DaNang in 1971 and they always ended the shows with everyone singing Silent Night. 7-8000 G.I.'s singing Silent Night and thinking about home. Takes me back ever time I hear it. You never fully come home.
  2. Bob, sorry to hear that. I will pray for you often. bk
  3. Hey! That's my bike! Same color, trunk rack, passing lights, etc. I'm headed for my garage now to see if mine is still there! Enjoy the ride, nice bike and that color out performs the others.
  4. You are as much a Viet Vet as any of us. Those gunships were mean dudes that bailed out lots of G.I.'s over the course of the war. Yes, I was on a firebase and remember the Easter Offensive of 72. We left Nam on Aug. 13, 72. Welcome home brother.
  5. July 7, 1972 for me. Lost 4 one month and 5 days before returning to the world. We were young but beyond our years after 11 months in Nam.
  6. Don't know about the G3's but I have 58,000 on my G2 with the original plugs and it's running like new.
  7. OH NO! Another V Twin!
  8. There are some good ones that I'm sure you'll find. I'll tell you what we like to do and that is go to one of the many seafood markets that will cook your selections in a few minutes and take it back to the condo. That is some of the best eating for us. Have a good trip.
  9. NICE! congrats & happy trails.
  10. He obviously isn't controlling the dog so I'll take spraying the dog in a heartbeat compared to committing a felony. A dog comes after me they are going to get the pepper or worse with no regrets. Yes, I am a dog owner and I'd hope someone does that to mine if he chases a vehicle.
  11. I doubt I'll ever own a G3 due to my satisfaction with my G2 and my age. But, I like the looks of them and am glad Yamaha took the step to stay in the touring market. In my mind that gives our G1's &2's some credibility rather than riding a "dead" brand name like Venture.
  12. A slow ride by with pepper spray could change his attitude about chasing vehicles. It's worked for me on a bicycle before.
  13. Congratulations on your new ride. I think you'll like it. I have an 06 and the only issues I've had with it are the fuel pump and rectifier (voltage regulator) have gone bad over time. I have 58,000 miles on the bike. Never had a problem with the popping you are experiencing but I have had the carbs synced in routine maintenance. Keep it maintained properly and you'll enjoy many miles of riding.
  14. Foremost Ins. = Pedestrian Personal Injury Protection $10,000, Liability $250,000 each person/$500,000 each accident, Passenger Liability $250,000 each accident, Preferred Operator Discount $12, Total annual cost = $150.67 Liability only.
  15. Will do tonight. Nothing like those grand babies that can tug at our heart strings.
  16. Ha, ha, ha, love it! What I really want to know and in time will hear from someone I guess is how does that v2 run in say 1/8th. mile compared to the v4's? Also, I really like the looks and features of the gen. 3 but I just can't pull the trigger for what it would cost me considering how little I'd get out of my 06 with 57,000 miles AND how much I like my 06. Time or dependability may make that trigger easier to pull though eventually. If not an RSV I think I'd go with an Indian though.
  17. For the money, again, I say for the money, the K V may be the best touring bike on the market with all the features. Around my area though they are as rare as hen's teeth.
  18. Although the number is declining there is still a large number that drinks nothing else but orange " kool aide." HD does know how to market and produce bling. They are good looking bikes.
  19. How about a Big Mac!
  20. I was very disappointed with the low mileage I got out of a set of 404's. I've switched to E3's with much better results.
  21. NICE!
  22. There is a nice article in Road Runner (Apr., 18) magazine that is out now about riding NTP.
  23. I've ridden BRP but it was in June and we ran in some cool temps in higher elevations. Have you considered Natchez Trace Parkway for that time of the year? You can get on it in Nashville and it heads south to Natchez, Ms.
  24. A zero turn is not a good idea if you are only going to mow a few times a year. I have a JD 925A zero turn and that's one of their bigger commercial mowers but I'd sure hate to mow 13 acres 4 times a year with it. Like others have said, I'd be looking for a good older tractor with live pto and a brush hog. I like the older Fords and Massey Fergusons for what you want to do.
  25. Happy Thanksgiving to all and don't forget to set your scales back 10 lbs. tonight.
