Squid, I was just lurking and looked your RSV up. That's a nice looking rig you've got there. Now I'm assuming the rear mc tire is gone and it's a three wheeler. Like the trailer also. I'll join the 60 club soon. Bill

Mine broke (black plastic connector) and my son milled one at the tool/die shop he works at that is exactly like the oem. I didn't warranty it because I didn't think about it at the time and already had the solution. That is an option if you can't do better. I think I might have an extra one I'll give you if you run out of options. They are easy to break I understand.

Kit brought out some good points. We have laws in every state that deal with negligence which enables a court decision. We don't need a mandate that takes out the accident clause without it being investigated. Even thought we all ride motorcycles we also drive cars. None of us, no matter how careful we try to be, can guarantee we won't cause an accident that involves a motorcycle while we are driving our car. That doesn't make us a lowlife.

I read this the first night it was posted but can just now post a reply but I still don't know what to say. My heart aches for Gary and the family. I never met them physically but spiritually feel a connection. May we all electronically hold hands and pray for this dear family. I am deeply sadened by this terrible news, especially when looking at their pictures and see the happiness and obvious love they shared. So sad!

It does make me wonder if I have done the right thing by getting back into motorcycling. My wife and I are just retired and plan on enjoying our later years as long as we can. Hearing accidents like the one involving Gary and Leslie not only makes my heart ache for them and their family but has me wondering if I am doing the right thing subjecting myself and my wife to those hazards. I do agree to a point that we have an appointed time to pass on but according to Ecclesiastes 9:11 time and chance can also cause the unpredictable. That keeps us from blaming God for accidents or health issues. My question is, as much as we enjoy riding, am I increasing the time and chance too much. I also agree with the above post that we hear about these accidents via the internet these days where we would not have a few years ago. That causes more grief and uncertainity. My heartfelt prayers go out to Gary and his two sons and families.

Bill, thanks for setting this up. I am going to try my best to make it next year, good Lord willing. It looks like beautiful riding from the posted pictures and I know I'll meet a group of good people and fellow RSV riders. I'm putting it on my calendar as a priority. Maybe the farm will turn me lose for a few days.

would you buy a RSV again?
Ky. Rider replied to stvmaier's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had a Honda 1100 Shadow which was ok for me but a cruel ride for my wife. I've now owned the RSV for 15 months and we both love it. We toured across our state in July and rode in comfort, dependability and style. -
Sherry, I have been off line a few days and was very saddened to hear of your family's loss of Tom. Although I don't know anyone on this form personally I feel a hurt inside for your family. May God's love be with you and your family. Bill & Marilyn

Thanks for the good advice all and a special thanks to MarCarl for the call this morning. I did insert the loading coil in the new plastic connector which was machined out to be exactly like the original.

To be honest with you Goose, I never thought about Yamaha covering it. I caught the antenna on my garage door when pulling out and it broke the connector. Thanks for turning on the light.

I may be the only RSV rider this has happened to but I wanted to share a cheap solution I found for my cb black plastic antenna connector that broke. First of all, Yamaha doesn't sell the connector, just the whole antenna at $175. From the post I had listed before there were some good ideas but I wanted to keep the OEM appearance if possible without spending $175. Anyway, I took the broken connector to a machine shop and they machined one exactly like the original. I knew the guy who did it and he said it took about 5 minutes and the best part is, didn't charge me anything. I have reassembled the antenna and you can't tell it from OEM. Just thought I'd share what worked for me. You bet I'm happy.

Will a battery tender that kicks itself out when the battery is charged (green light/red light) damage a battery if left on 2-3months? I've had one hooked up to my RSV 2 gen. since December and have heard different opinions. What is your experience? Thanks and happy scooting to us all soon with spring on the way.

Thanks for the replies. It seems to me somewhere in this country one could buy one of those plastic connectors. There is a local cb shop that I'm going to check out and see if they have something that will work. It's ridiculous to have to buy an antenna when all I need is that plastic connector. ps (4 month owner of a RSV and can't imagine riding anything else now. A great ride and style).

I need to replace the black plastic connector on the cb antenna. Checked with a Yamaha dealer and they said I'd have to buy a new antenna at $179.00. The connector is plastic and appears to connect the antenna top/bottom by threads. Any idea where I can get a replacement or a cheap sollution? Thanks.
