  1. If you are like me you are always curious what happens to our bikes when we sell or trade them. We I got a Face Book request to be friends with the sales person that handled the trade of our 04 VTX 1800 C on an 07 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe (second week of August 2011). I have post pictures of what they looked like when traded/bought and what the VTX looks like now. The van, driven by a person under the influence of drugs and booze hit the mail box about a quarter mile up the road when the van first left the road. The next thing it hit was our old VTX plowing other bikes and quads our of the way. Far as I know nobody was on or looking at any of the bikes or ATV's. I'm sure the X is totaled being an 04, but it was an 11k bike that looked as good on the bottom as it looked on top, the dealer had it listed as "MINT". BTW the only reason for trading is the Yamaha has air ride, electronic cruise control, factory hard bags and quick release sissy bar and windshield.

  2. A shout out to you Tufftom4 from across the state in Cape Coral. We bought our 07 RSTD from Treasure Coast Honda/Kawasaki the second week of August. We traded our 04 Honda VTX 1800 C. We rode around that afternoon and into the evening. We headed North over the bridge/causeway on Seaway Dr. A1A out to the inlet then south along the ocean on A1A to the NE Causeway to the mainland. We turned north to run along the bay and ate dinner at Conchy Joes just north of the bridge. BTW it was good food and not bad prices. It was dark when we finished our dinner and continued along the bay side, what an enjoyable ride on a new to us bike.

  3. :innocent: You got curves In Florida to slide around?:stirthepot::rotfl:

    Brian

Yes we do, instead of mountains or hills we have bodies of water we must drive around. Central FL has many lakes with curvy roads around them.

  4. I had to build a Trike and the affordable kits were made for the HD bikes. So it started as 2004 XL1200 Roadster w/stage 1. The wife and didn't like the riding effort it took to maneuver the bike thru the curves. We sold it after around a thousand miles, It was starting to become a bit fun for me solo, learning to somewhat slide it around the curves with the throttle cranked. But we are back on two wheels and loving it.

  5. I'll probably go Saturday. I try to stay away from town, but hit the venders on the Southside. However, they have been less and less the last few years.

Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona, seems to be the the new hot spot. We were in Daytona Bike week 05 and the south side was crazy busy and last year during Biketoberfest it was almost non existent. We try to drive thru Main St. but the activities are not what we are about so we just enjoy riding the area the bikes and the waterfront restaurants. I wanted to go this year but we went to Sebring instead due to some outpatient surgery and home recovery starting on October 6th. The Doc wants me to stay off the bike until he gives me the OK, personally I don't think my bum would be very happy on the scoot anyhow. NO, not hemorrhoids but the same general area.:rotf: BTW give me a shout out to the LORD in you prayers for a speedy recovery.

  6. I second RAM mounts, I first used it on my VTX for my ipod and now my smart phone which is a Motorola X Droid, I have it mounted on my 07 RSTD. I love the ability to listen to my music, hands free phone and GPS navigation.

  7. Thanks to all that contributed with an answer. I would like to apologize to Yammer Dan for my ignorance of these Yamaha bikes, it was my understanding that since they are referred to by the three groups that I have subscribe to as Generation 1 and Generation 2; that they were all Royal Star motorcycles by Yamaha. Now since I have done farther research and I may still be wrong the first generation bikes are Venture Royale.

I know on the other VTX sites I have been on, we had to watch out for people posting advise and they didn't have the same bike as in a 1300 v/s 1800, plus the different models within the cc group.

  8. Nice talk for a guy thats new and also want something. :whistling:

There is more knowledge about these bike in this group than any other goroup you will be able to find.

But having said that, we all don't know everything... we are all still learning as we go.

    :soapbox: and so it goes.

When Yammer Dan replied with the above it didn't make me feel real warm and fuzzy, BTW I didn't know you had to have seniority to use sarcasm. Sorry!!

  9. The following link is for Ft Myers and it is just as big and possibly a nicer venue due to them shutting down the Historic Downtown area, too many restaurants with outdoor dining to mention and always at least three bands. There also seems to be a lot of energy down town during this time. The interesting thing about these two events is I've been going to them for about 4-5 years and have yet to hear of any problems/trouble!

It may be fun to get a group of us together earlier in the day for a Meet & Greet and then ride in together. Otherwise it always seems that we never get hooked up when we all get there.

With your experience of six royal Stars to you claim I thought it would be you. I say that with no offence intended. At the time I started this thread I had owned my bike all of 3 weeks. My VTX had a 180 stock and if you asked me what is the largest tire would fit I would reply a 200 since I had one installed. There is also some thought that I wanted the larger tire so I could spin it, that is wrong. It just seems to me that the 150 being narrower than what I was accustom the bike wants to track more so in the grooves in the road than my 180's.

Sorry to have some expectation of knowledge from this group.:95:

  12. Soooo, is there going to be more new members here on the site???

The two people (husband w/1st Gen. Venture and wife w/06 RSTD) I talked with had knowledge of the three sites that I am on. Venturerider.Org, StarBikeForum and Royal Star Venture and Tour Deluxe Forum-Delphi forums. So I didn't do any selling nor did I get real names or user names; we just had small talk about our bikes.

  13. The first bike night of the season and the wife and I ride down for a short look around and dinner. We park the bike and start walking when we see a Pearl White RSTD and a 1st gen. Venture, so I decide to move our 07 RSTD and park it beside the White RSTD. When I got back the owners of the two bikes were there. So I parked the bike and start talking with them when I said hey there is another RSTD then the Venture owner said there was six of us there with-in 20 feet of each other all RSTD with exception of the 1st gen. Venture. I thought this was a nice showing for the Royal Star bikes, when I had a VTX we could never seem to get a group committed to getting together.

  14. When I look at the turn signals on the front, they stay lit all the time and flash for turn signals, the rear only flash for turn signals. Looking to add more light to the back, has anyone tried mounting front turn bodies on the rear and wired them as running and turn signals?

You may know of this mod, but it is a HD licence plate light bar and if you pick up the wiring out of the licence mount you will have two additional rear tail and brake lights.

    Ebay for $70

  15. OK, I was really expecting some responses like they change carb's, cam's, gear ratio or timing. I had no idea that the color had anything to do with it.

There was one comment from someone that said he blew a VTX 1800 away, that is very interesting since I have owned two. I question if the guy on the VTX had any idea that they were racing. Like I said earlier I never raced my bike but have run up beside other bikes that have passed me like the had something to prove. I would run hard with them for a while to let them know it wasn't a 750cc Shadow, but then I would let them get on with it and maybe they thought they had out run me. I presume most people are talking about a drag race type situation since there is very few places that are suitable for a top end speed competition.

Anyhow I have the RSTD now and am enjoying it, the ride is most important along with the performance is very acceptable to me, but I guess I need to look out for the first generation guys-n-gals.

  16. I own a 07 RSTD with 21K and I'm trying to compare some of the bikes features with past bikes I have owned. It seems like I do not hear my cooling fan run, or it is real quiet. I also have never seen the temp light on either.

On my last bike which was a VTX 1800 you could definitely hear and feel the fan moving air when it would come on. I live in South Florida and the fan would come on any time you spent much time stopped and also when I would pull it into the garage and leave the ignition on.
