  1. We went last year, be ready for a big crowd. We were very surprised by how popular this little rally has gotten.
  2. I rode one in Daytona also, I couldn't wait to get off of it. The riding position is terrible and it sounds like a lawn mower.
  3. Where I work we have used similar filters in the hydraulic systems of our steam turbines for years, and the filters last almost forever if properly cleaned but they are messy to clean and hydraulic fluid is not nearly as messy as used motor oil. I also would rather throw the mess away and replace it with a new cheap clean filter.
  4. Try your local dealer not all are jerks I have two in my area and the smaller of them mounted and balanced both front and rear tires that I got online. They charged me $75 and were very cool about it, they now have a regular customer.
  5. Believe me I feel lucky, that could have really ended badly.
  6. Man I had a close call tonight on the way home. I went for a ride with a friend who just got a new bike. The weather was nice so I figured I would take the chopper out and blow the cobwebs out of it. So on the way home I was running 70 on I 95 about three car lengths behind a pickup truck when a large steel truck hub cap flys out of the back of the truck headed directly toward me about head light high. All I could think of was if this thing gets under me I am going down hard. So I jogged right and as it passed I fined it off with my left foot and leg, man did that hurt. But over all this could have been a very bad day. I guess the Big Guy was looking out for me today.
  7. Depending on what is going on then I will probably be up for it I live about 50 miles north of WPB and drive down there every day for work often on the Venture so keep me posted.
  8. I am going to be out of the state for the next week on business but when I return I can post the pin outs for both of the plugs if you want to make your own. It isn't very hard and only costs a few bucks for the parts. Just let me know if you want them. Alan
  9. Hang in there, this bike took me longer to get the hang of than any bike I have ever owned. Be prepared to lay it on its side a few times in the process. Fortunately it rolls over without breaking much. But after you do get the hang of it it is a very pleasant bike to ride. I also agree that the narrower avon front tire helps.
  10. Yes you will drag more in the corners mostly the mufflers but if you have short legs it is much easier to handle the Bike. I am much happier with mine after being lowered.
  11. The issue is probably not how much pipe was threaded into the fitting or how it was tightened but in the amount of wall thickness left in the valleys of the threaded pipe. If you were to mic the thickness at the valley you would find it is not very thick and thus not very strong even with a bead of weld laid on it it would not be very strong.
  12. I mounted mine on the Bars, it worked out well see link for info. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6161
  13. I put the Baron's lowering kit on my 03, before I did I dreaded coming to a stop. I was on my tip toes and if I let the bike get off balance over she went. For me the bike handles much better with the lowering kit on it. The only draw back is it is very easy to drag the pipes especially 2 up. If you are short legged you should see an improvement.
  14. Here are pictures of the clamp, it is hard to see the clamp on the MP3 player mount but I used the same clamp on my wife's drink holder so I included a picture of it also. I also have a pic of the jig I made to bend the clamps. It is made from two pieces of 2 x 2 stock about 7" long, I drilled a 1 1/8" hole near the edge of the 2 x 2 block and then trimmed the edges of the hole as in the picture with a sharp chisel. A 3/4" deep well socket turned out to be the perfect bending mandrel. To use the jig place a strip of aluminum about 3/4" wide and approx 6" long in the jig as shown in the picture. Using vise and block or c clamp and block force the socket into the jig this will form the hoop, then remove the socket bend down the ears and remove from the jig. I have made three clamps for my bike and one for a Friends bike it works pretty good.
  15. This is an MP3 player mount I threw together last weekend. It turned out pretty good I made it from some scrap aluminum I had in the garage and formed it around some wood blocks I cut to the size I wanted the tray to be. I made another form from wood to make the bar clamp, it only took a couple of hours to make.
