  1. If the bag is the same as Yamaha's - the velcro works great. However, the shower cap WILL shred if not bungied.
  2. OK this is just MY experience. At 40,000 miles it picked up a TERRIBLE whine coming from the rear end. The dealer swapped it for a new one, no problem. but before I gave it to him, I pulled it down and looked at it. There were absolutely no marks on either of the gears. In the manual there is a PIA shim adjustment procedure the I'm sure would have fixed it. What scares me about swapping the housings is if this spacing procedure isn't followed, the same whine may appear. Yamaha is not known for consistency in manufacturing tolerances.
  3. Add me to the list also.
  4. What I'm afraid of is that Yamaha when assembling the frame, blew a hole between the head and one of the down tubes. Allowing grease into the tube. Can't think of any way of checking it though.
  5. After eating Wheaties this morning, I pumped in the last of the tube of grease (2 14oz tubes) and could see no sign of grease coming out anywhere. Removed the tank and the plastic side pieces beside the switch and with mirror on a stick saw maybe a teaspoon of seepage inside the frame housing behind the tree. I quit now. Pics attached.

  7. Sounded like a good idea. Bought zerk fitting NEW bits and grease. Greased the bits and drilled the hole. Easy. Taped the Hole. Easy Threaded fitting in. easy. So far have pump one and a golf tube of grease into the head. Arms TIRED. Will try more tommorrow. Either the inside of the head is bigger than it looks, or the inside of the down tubes will NEVER rust.
  8. Ok, I know it's cheap but - a $20 Timex with a rubber wristband strapped around the handlebar under the brake reservoir works like store bought.
  9. The bugler did it right.
  10. Might be a little tough since it is now classed "Hazardous Material". Good Luck
  11. Do I need to replace just one of them (if so which) or both of them. Funds are an issue.
  12. Had a "B" model back in the early 70's with a few extra teeth on the rear sprocket. GREAT BIKE.
  13. '98 Honda Accord - 385000 miles - just normal maintenance. Oil, tires and brakes
  14. Cougar, If you're going to sync the carbs anyway, why not just hookup all four hoses and use the appropriate vial for pilot adjustment. Just thinking. Sounds like a good chore when all the other chores get done.
  15. Got a few minutes for a little light reading. http://ncnatural.com/Parkway/
  16. Sorry I missed your post. We left BK in Canton at 1100 for Little River Canyon in Alabama. No pebbles on road but a little ice on Canyon Rim Road.
  17. I believe that wearing a helmet or not is personal choice. That being said, If you head hits the ground and you don't have a helmet on, YOU cover the repair. Not medicare, medicaid or insurance. I see no reason for me to pay for your repair.
  18. My guess is that Bobby has a speedohealer that's programmed wrong. Or maybe his bike reads in KM's.
  19. When it came time for my re-enlistment, they gave me what was I'm sure was the standard speech. Prestige, money, grade, - and I'd never have to worry about shore duty. There wouldn't be any. And me with a new wife and horns the size of south Georgia. I failed to re-up. But I did enjoy my job while there. Radio Shack. Wire cage that nobody wanted to come in.
  20. Besides Chicago being in the frozen tundra, one thing it has got is a good mom&pop restaurant on nearly every corner. What we got is Chili's and Mcdonalds.
  21. A long time ago, I reported for duty to my new ship that was in dry dock. Being the new guy, I was allowed to clean the long wire insulators. These are two ceramic insulators, one on each mast of the ship. In dry dock, it's done from a bucket hoisted by a crane. The thing is, I get nervous on the second step of a three step ladder. I was 'bound up' for a week. Later, during field day, I was sent for the preverbial bucket of blue steam. After more trips up and down the stack than I can count, went to radio shack and stayed there for three weeks. That ship, the USS Muliphen (a credit to the women that built it), is now a reef off the coast of Florida.
  22. Turns out Publix has pulled the calendars. http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/retail/angry-customers-force-removal-of-publix-calendar-for-omitting-pearl-harbor/1063851
  23. Finally got it. Last trick was to use dremel to cut slot in back of bolt. Use offset screwdriver to run bolt far enough through to grab with small channel locks. (I've got a pair 6" long with 1/2" jaws)
