  1. Tried to get in three times and couldn't. After creating the post, I tried it and got in. Oh well. Then I couldn't find the delete button for the post.
  2. Got this error when checking my preferences. The requested URL /forum/member.phpu=1401 was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Is it just me???
  3. I don't see any installation instructions for the 'Tech Plug'. Does the tire have to be unmounted to install it. The only picture I found of the plug doesn't lend itself to a push thru install.
  4. REI has a canoe seat buffer (air) for $20. Works for me.
  5. Do we need a community Ridley?? OK - dodging slings and arrows.
  6. For what it's worth, I use a XM Radio and a Garmin GPS. Both outputs jacked into a 2into1 adapter (Radio Shack) and that plugged into the Aux Input. Works great after adjusting individual volumes. GPS a little louder than XM (so the instructions override the music). Oh, and I'm a little hard of hearing too, so volume is a condsideration.
  7. Advance or Auto Zone or Pep boys will (for a small fee) give you a 2" mirror - on a stick. check the oil yourself, sitting on the seat.
  8. I found a half can of lubriplate 3000 (3% moly) in the shop. Any reason it wouldn't be good enough for drive shafts??? Hate to toss anything if its got any good to it. And I've seen this stuff in a covered but not sealed environment stay wet for 2 years.
  9. Flanders Handlebars
  10. Available only at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
  11. Ok, a question I've not seen an answer to. If you install LED brake and turn lights, and have to install load stabilizers to make to flashers work right, are you really saving and watts to use elsewhere???
  12. O'Reilly will sell you a small (thumb size) filter that can be cut in under the seat (it's clear, you can see when you've picked up a load of stuff). Then just leave the stock one in place, and know that you have a thing that need not be looked at.
  13. That's good music. I met some people once from around Kings Mountain that could play like that. These were just poor country folk that liked to make music on Saturday, go to church on Sunday. Thanks
  14. Hammer mechanic on things electronic. I have diagnosed hard drive problems with a 44 mag - - sledge hammer - and a axe. At least when I got through, you knew what was wrong with it.
  15. Tongue weight 65lbs??? You might be asking for trouble. The last I heard, 40lbs max.
  16. Fling Wing - like a Bumble Bee - not supposed to fly. Although I have personally made enough tooth picks to fill a Piggly Wiggly. That's the reason for MonoKote. A handy bag to bring the parts home in. My shop has four with frozen motors hanging in the rafters now. The electric ones always looked like they would irritate the neighbors less, except for me asking permission to climb their trees to retrieve my flying thingy.
  17. I've got the 5 man Apache. Great, easy to set and dismantle. Good in the wind. Rides perfect on top on my Aluma Trailer (along with two chairs).
  18. As the belts age, they will tend to disentagrate(?) and fill the grooves with stuff. A wire brush will remove the stuff and allow the belts to sit all the way into the pulley.
  19. I used Scottrade for years. Easy to use site. I quit because my choices were really bad. I mean, who could lose money with General Motors - - or Krispy Kreme.
  20. Just finished putting a J&M2003 comm unit on the SO's wee strom and it works great - except. Below about 60 the comms are great, but above they become garbled. This is with a 05 venture on my end. No electrical noise on either bike. Both units play MP3 fine at high speed, it's just the talking. We both wear Nolan modular (N-102) helmets and have tried the mics with and without the foam wind socks. My stock windshield is cut down and hers was never full. 90% of wind goes over our heads. Tried with the face shields up 1/2" and down. Down is better, but still garbled. Is this inherent with full helmets?
  21. Maybe I won't go in June.
  22. If you're really into motorcycles, stay at Ironhorse campground Stecoah NC. But before that order a copy of Madmaps (http://www.madmaps.com) "Smoky Mountains - Regional Scenic Tours" shiney side up
  23. Oh yea, I looked at the FRS, and it would work for her bike. But mines already got the GPS, the XM, and coffee holder. Handle bar space is limited
  24. Thanks guys. At the mention of Sierra, the owner suddenly asked me to verify that I was a public servant (I did do fire service in the 80's) and offered a 10% discount. Not as good as Sierra, but faster and local. Several of the guys have denied discounts. Helps to know whats out there. Thanks
  25. Just saw an ad for the handlebar mounted unit. The SO rides a wee strom and would occasionally like to tell me when I missed a turn. Has anyone got any experience with these units. Are they any good? I know they're pricey, but if it's any good, it looks like it would fit the bill. (Able to tell me what to do and listen to her tunes)
