  1. I was the proud owner of a Mazda R-100. I have never owned a more fun car to drive - - - when it would start. It was the first rotary. Understand they have those bugs fixed now.
  2. FreezyRider - thanks for telling me about it and Goose - Great writeup - thanks. After lunch and nap, its off the big box home improvement store. And now I have something to do in the morning.
  3. How to explain this. - - the windshield bolts to a strip of metal running across the inside of the fairing. This strip of metal is mounted on each end with a plastic ear to the inside of the fairing and at the center with a bolt to a raised mount. Both ears are broken - only thing holding it is the center bolt. It's a '05 so the warranty covers it but, in two weeks is a trip up to VA and back. (Blue Ridge and Skyline) Don't think there's time for the dealer to handle it. What about two small angle brackets in place of the ears. Any reason it wouldn't work??? Don't know how much trouble it will be to grind the ears off and mount the brackets. Any thoughts anyone???

  5. Gonna take a camping trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive. Turns out the tent/chair/sleeping bag W/air mattress is taller than the mirrors can see over. has anyone seen a taller mirror (2" ought to do it). Or maybe tried stacking two of the OEM extensions on top of each other??? Was thinking of stacking the extensions, but don't know that the treads are the same.
  6. Been using it for about 6 months. Luv it. But. Keep IE handy, occasionally I find a site that won't fully display.
  7. Naaah, the whines I get are to speed up. But then she twists the throttle on her bike and my view improves. - -- - - - Gives me incentive to keep up.
  8. Finally pulled the rear end and split the gears. Found the pinion to have hundreds of small scores in the teeth. All of them virtually microscopic. Showed them to the dealer and explained that I had a whine louder than the clutch or the tires and while it wasn't really broken, if Yamaha didn't replace it, I'd have to buy a new one that I really couldn't afford. He agreed to phone corporate, and, - - - - they replaced it. WooooHoooo. But, after two hours of trying to put the shaft back into the universal (pumpkin off) I finally got out my Dremel tool and relieved a little of the shaft front. Sharpened it like a pencil and back cut the teeth. Sucker slid in like a lost puppy goin' to milk. Only noises now are the clutch and tires.
  9. Picked up a whine from the rear of the bike from 55 to about 70. Suspect the pumpkin pinion gear nut may have backed off. Has anyone tighten this? What did you hold the ring gear with?? Dealer has ridden the bike and tech says 'I don't hear anything unusual'. If he doesn't want to tighten the nut, I'm not gonna make him. Too many other things he can hurt in the process. And as long as there aren't any parts involved, I'd rather do it myself. Even thinking of switching to a VMAX rear end. Lots of folks have been happy when they have switched.
  10. Had this done SEVERAL year ago. Breathing is a good thing. (and worth the trouble)
  11. For what it's worth - I'm now a supporting member. Twice. It says so on my posts.
  12. I use the water bottle holder from Wally World. Designed for bicycles. Even comes with handlebar mount.
  13. Don't think I've seen this anywhere, and inquiring minds want to know. Literature says we have a 6 gallon tank. So I went to the gas station with a short piece of fuel hose and a gas can. When I got there, held the bike vertical and drained the tank from the petcock. Refilled it from the gas pump. 5.5 gallons. Now I (we) know.
  14. If your talking about the license plate mount it's a - - - - - - - Harley part. My local Harley discounter got mine for me.
  15. Thought of sending you a PM over the weekend but didn't want to know if you were off the board. Glad your head is above water.
  16. What Steve said. - - - - - A mirror - - - - - - - on a stick.

  20. Tim, you are now my second best hero. One question. Did you do anything to attenuate the power of the gps? Seems it would be a lot more than the mic power, even at the low setting.
