  1. So sorry to hear this! Sending prayers and good thoughts for you both. Mary Jo
  2. http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=11827&posts=5&start=1 Here is the ad for the complete rig. No mention of a wreck, just updating the hack. You will also need to get bike specific mounts for the sidecar. Add that to the cost...

  4. Yeah sidecars! Check out sidecars.com, lots of information. There are companies that make bike specific mounting kits, but it looks like you've got that all figured out! Switching out the triple trees will reduce the effort to steer. It's the only way I'd drive with a sidecar. Have fun!
  5. I thought about my bike today.......as it sits, waiting for spring.....
  6. 29 days - need to get the new rear tire on before I can take it out, but probably won't make it until spring with the way the weather is changing Had a 99 RSV hack but I wrecked it after owning it for 15 months...
  7. Every vehicle I have ever had on craigslist gets several of those responses. I usually send back an email saying "Does this scam ever work?" Surprisingly, they don't respond.
  8. I have the summers off, so if you're in PA send me a note and I'll see if we can meet for a ride. You should visit Mars, PA.....we have a spaceship!
  9. Life is short. Go for it! Practice waving, too. Everyone waves and:thumbsup2: when you drive a sidecar.
  10. Go for it!
  11. Bought this lovely rig in Grand Rapids, MI on Sunday and I am thrilled! The previous owner did a fantastic job of mounting the sidecar and maintaining the bike. It's my second Venture hack. Now if the weather would cooperate........
  12. trunk or in the sidecar........
  13. I do! Found the pictures, but they won't upload here. I sent you an email
  14. What was most useful was the bottled water for swishing the blood out of my mouth, the towel for stopping the blood from the broken nose.........and a plastic grocery bag to put all the other stuff that flew out of the trunk when it cracked open First person on the scene was a volunteer firefighter who was driving past. He had a huge first aid kit.
  15. Happy Birthday Earl!
  16. I just had a bike with sidecar shipped from Chicago to here(north of Pittsburgh, PA), house to house, using uship.com The guys at A2BCUthere picked it up Thursday at 9:45 my time and delivered it at 11 am Friday - in an enclosed trailer. Cheaper than the other places I looked into before trying uship All in one piece, without a scratch.
  17. Congratulations on the move! My best to you and Jean. MJ
  18. I've never owned anything but the sidecar rig I have now, so I have no comparison with two wheels. I bought it because I liked the way it looked (and everyone told me they were too hard to drive, so I had to) You "drive" a hack, and it needs to be set up properly. Took me about a year to get everything the way I wanted. Changing out the triple trees was the best investment and makes steering a breeze. Check out sidecar.com for vendors. They are extremely helpful. You tend to take things slower and enjoy the ride. The boyfriend drives much faster than I do, but I have no problem keeping up when riding with a group. Like you said, trikes are pretty common......I've never taken my Broom anywhere that folks haven't stopped and talked to me and asked plenty of questions. I know what you are talking about. Sidecars make up only 2% of the motorcycle market. I love driving the Broom, and I like being a passenger. I have a clear view ahead and don't have to stare at the back of his head. Also, I can move as much as I want and not throw the driver off balance. I don't have reverse and haven't missed it. Gravity is my friend. If I don't think ahead, the Broom rolls so easily that it can be pushed by one person if I need help. That being said, I wrecked. On a left turn. I'm chalking it up to inexperience. At least I know my brakes work....I just shouldn't have used them Can't wait to get it fixed and on the road. I imagine the first ride on either a trike or hack will not feel that great because you are not used to steering. 3 different friends with years of motorcycle experience have driven mine and none of them liked it.
  19. Wrecked the Broom and the trunk cracked like an egg. All that's left is the lock, trim around the lock and the foam bottom and a few other bits. Most expensive part for the repair on the bike. Looks like I'm buying a new one............. The speakers and back rest are in fine shape I've been looking at Pinwall. May actually take a ride to see the part in person. Thanks!

    Side Height

Very nice work! You are quite the visionary/engineer/fabricator/mechanic!
  21. lucked out - 8 stitches in right knee, 4 stitches in side my lip, slightly broken nose that won't need set, sore shoulder I was driving, the only thing in the sidecar was a bag of groceries Boyfriend was behind me and said all he saw was a ball of dust. I'll send notes to those of you that have listed parts. THANKS!!!!
  22. I've decided to fix the Broom, so I'm looking for stock parts for a 99 RSV that you may have in your garage. I need handlebars, windshield right front fork, .........and other assorted goodies. Last Sunday, for some unknown reason, I grabbed the front brake going into a left turn. Locked it up, skidded accross the road and landed upside down. Go figure, the weekend before I drove 500 miles to Gettysburg and back without incident, this happened 25 miles from home. Just had routine maintenance done by Earl, aka SkyDoc, and he did a great job! There wasn't one leak or drip when it was upside down or even after being righted! Hope it will be on the road in time for Oberlin, so I can get those pretty pinstripes back. http://s1133.photobucket.com/albums/m583/MaryJo44/Broom%20crash/?albumview=slideshow&track=share_email_album_view_click

  24. http://www.roadreadybags.com/home.html made in the USA and waterproof
  25. Looks great! Have fun and check out sidecar.com There are several books to download with information on driving a hack. If you haven't thought about it, I just love my triple tree modification from http://www.sidecars.ca/ It has made driving a joy! Mary Jo
