Lucky you to see them! I LOVE the Motorcycle Cannonball! Saw them at a stop a few years ago in WV. Favorites are the sidecars and 4 cyl. Hendersons. Riders will sometimes take time to chat with you and take photos at designated stops. Following them on Facebook every day. https://motorcyclecannonball.com/ Interesting that, as a driver, you're on your own. They all have a support crew, but can't get help from them during the race. From the rules: https://motorcyclecannonball.com/apply/#:~:text=Generally%2C any motorcycle manufactured in,replica machines are allowed!! During a Stage, a competing motorcycle must not receive service or assistance from anyone associated with any Event Team including, but not limited to, support vehicles, family members, and friends. 4. Support vehicles must follow Support Crew Instructions. 5. On most days, Support Crew instructions take Support Vehicles directly to the next overnight city by a route mostly different from that followed by competing motorcycles. On these days, where portions of the route are the same, a support vehicle must not travel near its competing motorcycle. 6. On several days, Support Vehicles follow a major portion of the motorcycles’ route. On these days, support vehicles must not be in the field of competing motorcycles during the day’s run; therefore, on these days, it is recommended that support vehicles depart at least 30 minutes after to the official start of the Stage. (Support crews will be notified daily on wgich time to leave 7. If a Team's support vehicle is observed violating Support Crew Instructions (such as moving in the field of competing motorcycles when instructed not to, or traveling near its competing motorcycle) the rider or Team will receive a penalty of 50 Points for the first occurrence, 250 Points for the second occurrence, and disqualification for the third occurrence. 8. If a support vehicle is designated the official support vehicle for more than one Team, each of the Teams will receive the penalties assessed because of that support vehicle.

Hello, I've scoured previous posts and the newest is from many years ago. My 04 Midnight Venture has a bad rear shock. How can I (meaning my husband) repair this or is there another alternative to the $800-1000 tag for a new one? It has 54,000 miles on the bike, the last 2000 from a trip in April Thanks in advance for your help. Mary Jo

I stayed out of the way. However my husband........he's been busy! New bright lights everywhere on both of our rigs! 😍

Husband and I are headed to Sidecars in the Smokies April 24 - 30. He bought a 2008 VStar with Freedom sidecar last March and I'm still moseying along on my 2004 Venture with 2007 Champion sidecar. Pray for us. First long trip together And.....E.T.A.R. Easter Traditional Archery Rendezvous in Wellsboro, PA (PA grand canyon) July 26 - 30 Sure there will be more as John retired. Yippee!

Looks like a great place for a rally! Hope to make it next year as the hubs will be retired and just bought himself a VStar with sidecar.

Made it home about 7 after a detour to Lake Chatauqua. Really enjoyed the venue and the food was great. Had a nice ride with Linda the Brave (in the the sidecar), Ron and Tina (excellent ride captain), Joe and Debby (stuck behind me), Spanky and Ron at Niagara Falls. Maid of the Mist was awesome!! 600 miles and only 100 miles of rain. Not bad. Not bad at all John enjoyed meeting you and we're planning on next year! MJ aka Most Honest (Worst) mini golf champ 2020

Looking to replace stock seat on my 2005 RSV
MJ44 replied to Bruce Daub's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
After talking with motorcycle buddies, I found a local custom upholstery guy specializing in car, boat and motorcycles. He took my seat apart while I waited, added 3 different types of foam, had me sit on the seat, made some more adjustments and all for $150 I don't do long distance unless you count going to a Venture event, but for riding around all day it's comfortable. Add a sheepskin from Ikea for the hot days and I'm good. -
DRAT! Will missing seeing you folks and hoping things change. I'll be there.

............and she waits until the last minute to book and SCORES! My own cozy little cabin with bathroom that will be finished in time for the rally. Looking forward to seeing everyone. The only thing you'll recognize is my Broom. I'll be married and retired by then so I'm sure you won't recognize me. -
Glad to hear everyone made it home safe, sound, and with a few stories to tell. Great big thanks to the WNY crew for putting on another stellar event. Loved the movie nights. Thankful to see old friends and make some new. See you next year on the Broom. MJ

A Strange Request To Those Coming To The WNY Rally
MJ44 replied to bongobobny's topic in Watering Hole
I'll bring one that I brought back in 2000 from the beach in Portland, Dorset, England -
I have a Champion, too.

http://www.sidecar.com Very helpful site that is just about sidecars.

I have had 2 Venture sidecar rigs and modified the steering on both. Best bucks spent. Had a mechanic do it, but I have a mechanic do all the work. They come with directions and the folks who sell them are very helpful. A few different brands out there. I don't have a Steer Lite brand and can't remember where I got mine. Check the air in your tires, too. A difference of a few psi in the sidecar can make a difference. I keep it at 25 http://freedomsidecars.com/ Claude Stanley knows his stuff and is always willing to talk and help.

What Craig said!

I've had an Ikea sheepskin for several years. Good deal! Like the route you took!

Puc, it was the best time! A buddy rode in my sidecar for the 100 mile journey (one way) Can't believe it as he's been riding solo bikes for 50 years. "If something's going to happen, it's going to happen" Brave man. My Witchy sister riding buddy (she's standing next to Frank Westhall in the first picture, guy with beer, second place in the standings )came along and loved it! She had no idea what it was all about. To see these folks ride 100+ year old machines is amazing. Also many nice old machines that came to watch.
