So what is the purpose of a crotch rocket on the street?

First Gens are here to remind bystanders how beautiful the model once was. Just sayin'.... -
To those of you who ride the more beautiful and nimble of the Venture lineup, I ask this question. The manual states that lone rider rear shock pressure should be 14 psi. Add a passenger or cargo (not both) then the psi jumps to 42 for the rear. My dilemma is that I don't have a compressor on board (removed before I bought the bike and never replaced) so I have the rear shock psi set to 30. I also have damper set to 2. I do this in case I pick up a passenger unexpectedly. I am interested in your thoughts on this and if you think there may be a better way to do this. Thanks in advance, Thomas

Is that 250 Lake Street?

I looked up Alexandria Bay and I see you will be NE of I-81. See Google Maps http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=&q=Alexandria+bay&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGLL_enCA383CA383&ie=UTF-8 Take the I-81 North into Canada and jump onto 1000 Islands Parkway. Go East and go slowly so you can enjoy the fresh air and refreshing views. Once you go as far as you can on the Parkway, (Butternut Bay) you need to jump onto the 401 for a small piece before you can hook-up with Hwy #2. This highway is a Canadian original "Ontario King's Highway" the main thoroughfare before the 401. This is great country and once you start to hit towns along the way you won't help but start to have the kind of time that fond memories are made of. Enjoy your visit. I wish I could join you. Thomas

Snaggletooth, I've always thought this would be a far more interesting way to travel. http://spyder.brp.com/en-CA/ Thomas

I won't be joining you since I'll be in Amherstburg, ON with the family raising money for Autism Ontario at the Ice Cream Festival! I think maybe your route is going in the wrong direction. LOL

Hi folks! I recently (one year ago) added driving lamps to my 85 VR and I have had issues with the driving lamps taking alot of power to run. So much in fact, that when I'm running at approx 3500 - 4000 rpm the charging system can hold it fine but if I drop into city driving speeds, the draw becomes troublesome. After some city driving with the lamps on, my radio will drop in volume in relation to my turn signal. Blink on, lower volume, blink off, higher volume. (kind of funny now that I'm typing this). I have the positive running direct to the battery and my question is "Is there a better way to do this so the draw isn't quite so high?" The lamps 2 x 35w halogen. Stator is new in 2006. Any suggestions will be happily considered. Thomas

Ok, it's tomorrow now. We need to see the new addition. Pics plz. -
I love that idea Michael! I'm gonna start that. Let's see how much the "junk mailers" enjoy receiving junk mail. LOL So much stuff I wish I had the time to come up with.

Hey everybody. Go here...http://www.milesgallon.com/. This is a great place for mileage calculation. I use it all the time for my Honda. (Civic, that is.) It's good for north or south of the 49th. (metric or U.S.) Thomas

The Headlight Mod....
Midicat replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you're putting this in your 1st gen then I definitely want to see pics of the finished product. I don't drive at night alot but when I do, I'm always thinking that I'm overdriving the headlights. Thomas -
safely removing covers
Midicat replied to george0fthejungle's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't know about instructions for how to remove each panel, but if you were more specific regarding which panel you're struggling with, we could definitely guide you thru it. False gas tank has a screw next to filler cap. Remove that and lift that end. Midicat -
So, it's come to this. I can't believe what I'm reading. My kids think I'm ok/cool. Not the coolest but an ok guy. (I am their father so really, how cool am I allowed to be by their standards) I kid around with them by saying I am part of a motorcycle gang....The VentureRiders! Oh yeah! We're tough! We're bad dudes (and dudettes) who ride into town, take over the buffet table and leave with plenty of noise! That's the life of a VentureRider biker. If they knew that we were talking about "the best way to hang toilet paper", I'd be laughed out of 5th grade! C'mon, Freebird, can't we hide this topic? I have but a shred of credibility as a motorcycle rider. Please don't let me go down like this. Midicat

I have noticed this bike in the driveway and thought I should stop in and introduce myself and Ventureriders but it would appear I am too late. It's a clean looking bike and I'm thinking it's a good deal. It looks like he's missing the trunk. Reiny is great that way. Marcarl on the other hand, well let's just say that a couple of Tylenol and a shot of Jack makes it easier the first time you meet him. Then, after a while, all you need is the Jack.

Thom, I'd be really interested in seeing close-up images of where it crosses under the scoot.
-
SilvrT, I just wouldn't be riding a scoot if I had to pay that plus car, plus house, plus life, plus, plus, plus. :crying:
-
Hey Bob, If your comin' across Fort Erie, tell me what time and I'll meet ya. We can ride the shores of Lake Erie for a couple of hours before you head over to Wayne's.

Take some pepperettes to pass out. That'll get 'em on your side. Drive carefully. There's more nuts on the roads the closer you get to this country's capital.
