  1. Either that's where Charlie emptied his bladder ....or....bugs. Maybe grubs.
  2. I would suggest staying away from refurbished. Even though they have been looked at by the service department of the manufacturer, they tend to still pose more of a problem than new. I bought refurbished "once". It was a problem system. Go with new, you'll be happier. Thomas
  3. Sounds like you have an '85 there with some extras goodies. Brian's right, the floorboards could almost pay your insurance for a year if you decided to sell them. No second gear issue? That's great. If the paint is good, and it's just a matter of tinkering with the engine. I'd say go for it. Thomas
  4. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
  5. Melanoma can end your life! Skin Cancer. We don't talk about it and probably because we just don't know. Please pass this on to any young people you know. I was young once and understood the feeling of invincibility. They need to know that they can be invincible, they just need to be vigilante. http://dcmf.ca/ Thomas
  6. My wife and my mother-in-law are taking the kids (grandkids) into Toronto for the day. I am excused from this event so I'm going for a spin! It's gonna be a beeeeeutiful day! Thomas
  7. After a couple of years of enduring high heat on the legs in July, I knew I needed to do something about it. I don't remember where I saw the discussion but I did read about a Venture owner cutting Lexan to fit the opening. I figured this was a great alternative to waiting for a bargain on Ebay on louvers. I bought bronze coloured Lexan and used card stock paper to trace the side panels and trim to the needed dimensions and shape. Used the card stock as a template for marking and cutting the Lexan. Drilled holes where required, and "voila". Colour coordinated heat blockers. I'm happy. So is the hair on my thighs. Thomas
  8. Thomas
  9. These look like they're exclusive to 2nd Gen riders. Too bad, they look really good. Thomas
  10. Thanks Mike, for diggin' that up for me. It really looks great. Did you have to modify the liner in the fairing at all for heat considerations? Thomas
  11. Mike, I know it's been a year but we still haven't seen photos of this finished project.
  12. Where's Motto Guzzi?
  13. I have experienced the same thing with my car windshield mount. My Garmin windshield suction cup mount will just "drop off" every once in a while. I just couldn't ever see using a windshield mount on a clattering motorcycle windshield. I went with the RAM system for the handlebars. Love it. No issues. Thomas
  14. Mike, you'd better be careful. If this turns out to be something really cool, then I'm gonna want one. And maybe several others out here as well. You'll be busy for months. Do you only need one, or are you making a pair of them? Thomas
  15. Thanks Snaggletooth for bringing this up. I remember reading about it a couple of years ago and thought "oh, I should do that..." Never did. Until now. Around $5.00 Canadian and, honest to god, 15 mins of my time and she's good as new. Maybe even better. You really need to look at this as $5.00 now to save substantially more in damage from a fall. Thomas
  16. Do you speak from experience Carl? So that's the special seasoning in your pepperettes. Thomas
  17. I have the same setup. I LOVE my Buddy Rich cable.
  18. Message him. He's a member here. Thomas
  19. My first reaction was "I would not trust the safety and stability of my $4000 bike to a $129.00 piece of steel." I did not know that about towing a shaft drive. See?? That's why I'm a member here. The knowledge base is VAST! Thomas
  20. How do you know that for sure? I'm curious. Thomas
  21. Why not a First Gen? How does the bear afford a new 2nd Gen? Just askin'.
  22. :rotf: WAIT! Maybe not so funny when my tank holds 20.8L of fuel.
  23. I took 'er out of the garage today. First time outside since Oct 2010. I started 'er up and I started getting dizzy with excitement. I can't wait! I reviewed the back of my scoot and decided that the brake light and marker light configuration is good the way it is. I'm gonna pass on the trunk rail. Thomas
  24. Doh! Sorry about that everyone. I guess this tech stuff can be trickier than I thought. You're right Freebird, I was logged into my account and that's why it didn't work. Live and learn, live and learn. Thanks for the answer folks. I'm gonna unwrap my baby today and see if I can use it. Can't wait to hear her start up. I'm starting to get the itch. Thomas
  25. I found this accent bar for the trunk on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-VENTURE-XVZ13D-1300-ROYALE-TRUNK-ACCENT-BAR-/170613579057?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b95c9d31 I don't know if it will fit my '85. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thomas
