I also have a 2006 Rhino 660. I find it to be a very good off road machine. As Frogmaster said ask any questions. And a thank you to the Frogmaster for a lead to another forum to check out. I have changed the cdi box and installed the Grizzly sheave mod which makes the Rhino cruise really nice at 45-46 mph. I have also installed Maxxis Bighorn tires on Maxxis 4x4 wheels which have 1 inch more offset. With the offset rims and Bighorn 6 ply radials the Rhino has improved stability. I feel that it is a great machine and safety is at least in part in the hands of the operator. A winch is a good option. Enjoy the Rhino.

Asking for advice....
Kurt replied to Iowawegian's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
Take a look at this link. Lots of choices, always changing with seasons and such. It is a pay site but affordable. http://www1.msn.americangreetings.com/printables/index.pd Reread your post and think it will cover the bases including pictures. -
We chased cows with the dirt bikes when I was at home. When they broke out it was a lot easier than running miles on foot. A round up of sorts.

I was on the Aurora Wheelers atv site and ran across this video. Those guys have a little different sense of humor. One uses the sig "Pain is weakness leaving the body" another uses "Bones heal, chicks dig scars, pain is temporary, but glory is forever." Anyway the video is interesting, fast forward to 2:25 to start. Bear in mind this girl posted this herself so she must have a sense of humor. If it hurts to laugh you may not want to watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPsNi1k8Df4&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fhttp://www.facebook.com%2Fs.php%3Finit&q=paige%20harris&ref=ts&sid=dc99b7638345dbd533a04373feab05b5

Been through all of that fun. If he keeps his nose clean it won't be too bad. I had one that did and one that didn't. They both had their own vehicles and paid their insurance. Part of the learning curve is to pay your own way and see what the consequenses are for bad behavior. One thing is that he only needs to be rated on one vehicle with the insurance company which is bad enough. At least it works that way with State Farm. Our agent sits down with each new driver when they get a license and explains to them how things work and what will happen in there is an accident or violation. He does this without the parents present. It is a point blank, honest meeting that tells the the new driver where it's at. It comes from someone other than a parent which helps. Kind of a right of passage I guess. A person needs to understand that with new privileges also come new responsibilities. I wish you and your son luck in this and may his gaurdian angel keep him out of any real trouble.

Maxxis on the ATV's. Bighorns on the Rhino and Lynx on the Wolverine. Good in these applications.

bit of a PIA in my eyes. not as easy as some want me to believe. Changed mine last summer. Damn glad I have the tool selection I do to make it easier tho. I have done worse. -
Mobil 1 formulation has been changed in the last year or so. The way I know this is that Exmark recommended it for their hydrostatic drives on the mowers. After the formulation change it is no longer recommended for that application. I will stick to Cenex diesel oil in my 90. I put Mobil 1 in an 82 Maxim and it started leaking. I would stick to non-sythetics in an older bike due to the chance of leaking seals and gaskets. I also change oil and filter at 1000-1500 miles which some will say is more often than needed. Just me tho.

Miller mig is a good choice. I have a MM210 which works good and has a spool gun for aluminum. Good garage welder, they also make smaller units that are less money. You need to decide what welding you want to do and get a machine to fit your wants and needs. I had a Lincoln 185 before this that worked great. Did some fairly serious welding with it, welded till the thermal protection shut it down and when it cooled do it again. One of the reasons I went to the 210. My personal opinion is to stay away from the smaller 110 volt units. I also would stay away from gasless mig, personal opinion there. We have Miller and Esab in the shop and the Miller is the better machine. We have 250's that were built in the 70's which are obsolete and figure to run them till they die. If I want to get serious about welding I get the Trailblazer 301g fired up. coupla links for ya http://www.millerwelds.com/ http://www.hobartwelders.com/weldtalk/ On another thought you can watch Craig's list to see what comes up. I have seen some pretty good deals there. Someone selling to get cash or done with a project and figures to not need again. Just stay with the name brands. Miller, Lincoln, Hobart (made by Miller) Do you know the welding distributors in your area? Sometimes they have tradeins. Also they have the gases and the hard good you need. Good Luck

I use an electric heater and spike it with a knipco as needed. If I was going to get serious about heating it I would use a Hot Dawg by Modine. My sons have these and they work great. A hanging heater that is vented so you don't suffocate and is out of the way. Not exactly cheap but sometimes it is better to spend the cash for a better way especially in the cold area here. The boys only heat as needed not every day, so the expense is minimal. Also it is thermostat contolled the same as your house. Here as a link to a dealer just to show the heater. http://www.gas-space-heater.com/modine-hot-dawg.html

If the area is relatively small one alternative would be to spread a clear plastic sheet over it. You just cover the area you want bare with the plastic and hold it in place with rock or logs or whatever. The plants under the plastic will die and any seeds within sprouting depth will sprout and die also. Leave it in place 2-3 weeks and the spot will be dead so you can reseed grass. I remembered this eco-friendly method after posting the chemical route. It is just that this way will kill everything. Good luck.

There is only one piece of advice I have heard about ABS that is really worthwhile. That is "Drive like you don't have it" This is not to knock down the merits of the foundation brakes on any vehicle that has ABS but merely to point out the fact that you should not depend on an electronic device to control the vehicle for you. ABS has been known to fail.

I have that crap in my yard. It is tough to get rid of. The thing that works best that I have found is Trimec turf herbicide. Spray it in September before things go dormant. At that point you make the plant sick and it can't winter over. Also takes the dandelions and clover. I like to hit it with Trimec, then in a week or so fertilize and overseed. The Trimec does not take grass. If you spray with Round-up everything is gone so you have to start over. I use a wheel drive sprayer with squeeze pumps for the large areas and a pump hand sprayer for the rest. If you need particulars you can pm me. Here is a link. http://pbigordon.com/professional/page.php?id=303

With that said I would go back to the Venture in a heart beat if I wouldn't lose my rear on selling the HD, and if the wife would go along with it. she seems to think 3 new bike over 8 year is enough. Sooner or later you will get to the point that it doesn't matter if you lose. You will ride what you like and are comfortable on, and any loss will get written off as education expense. I just hope it doesn't go so long that you completely dispise HD bikes. Life is too short to have your fun stuff cause pain or irritation.
