    The 390 was considered a Galaxie engine, which is why they came out with the 427/8. The original Bullitt car ('68 Mustang fastback w/390) could not keep up with the Charger and suspension had to be highly modified to handle the jumps. The Charger was stock 440, if I remember correctly. "Just sayin...":)

    You've started something here.... I was a Ford guy, also teen in the 60's. I sold my '68 California Special at Barrett Jackson last year - not sorry though; I was afraid to park it anywhere it might get scratched, etc. Am sorry I sold the '68 Cougar 428 though. Sven
