Thanks Goose that was a great explanation, I'd also like to thank you for showing me around my rsv, I learned more in four hours with you then I could have discovered on my own in four years. I also took your advice and tightened up and lubed all the places you suggested, maybe one of these days it will cool off enough that we can get a group from the dfw area to go on a ride together. What kind of beer? and PM me your address or Phone #. I'm retired so I've got all kinds of time on my hands. -

I've also used the Avon's in the past, had a problem when one delaminated. But they were a great tire otherwise, good gripping in the twisties and no problems in the rain, and as I recall they were fairly quiet. May just have to reconsider them. Thanks -

I hope your doing fine, the bike can always be replaced but body parts can't. Thanks for the advice. -

I'm running right at the same tire pressure as was posted, however I was running zero zero in the shocks, I'll try adjusting them and see if it makes any difference. I'm inclined to just replace the tires for safety if nothing else, I've used Metzler before on one of my wings and had good luck with it so that will probably be my choice, don't like the E3's as I've also used them and found them to be noisy. Thanks Everyone. Keep the shiny side up. -
I bought a 2008 rsv a couple of weeks ago, had always been a GW rider until now. The problem is at speeds above 55 mph the bike seems unstable, similar to wind buffeting but in a zero wind condition. I've considered tires (it still has the original 404's) or loose steering head, just not sure. The bike only has 2075 miles on it and the previous owner had the 400 mile check preformed. Any ideas?

If Dunlop's are suppose to be so great then why would every GW 1800 rider do everything they can to remove them, after all they ride about the same as we do and they hate them. Metzler or Avon's are my choices, and you have to watch the Avon's as they've been known to delaminate.

We had the opportunity to listen to a organ recital a couple of years ago. After the recital we went up to talk to the organist, after about 20 minutes of talking and when almost everyone had left she invited us up to the organ to take some pictures sitting on the bench, I don't think she was suppose to do that but it was really nice of her. I've got the pictures but I'd have to transfer them from my laptop, maybe later today.

You hit the nail right on the head. I live in Grand Prairie, Tx. were that video was shot and although I'm not a motor officer I have a lot of friends who are on Grand Prairie's force and do get invited to watch them practice and even get to ride the course (somewhat modified) on a regular basis. The key in my opion is keep that head up and turning in the direction of of the turn your attempting to make. Every officer there says the same thing. "If you look down you're going to go down" Practice Practice & then Practice some more and you'll amaze yourself at what you can accomplish in just a few days.

. It is a fact that you get brighter output when you match the LED color to the face color. Wow who would have ever thought that. Thanks for adding your expertise.

Probably the reason for recommending red leds under a red lens is because that's the only option they have and they want you to buy what they have. I'm also sure that the leds do make a dramatic improvement over what the factory supplies and I'll probably buy them even though they could be improved upon with a clear lens.

I looked at adding the 100 led board but it didn't make a lot of sense to put red led's under a red lens. Seems like your half defeating the purpose. Does anyone know of a clear lens for the rsv?

OK I really don't like to admit to being stupid but what happened was I was riding with a few friends on a lunch run. On the way back we were running late and had picked up the pace a lot. After leaving Joshue Tx we encountered a series of 30 mph posted S curves which we were taking at about 50. The first few were no problem but after completing the right hand portion and turning through the left hand curve I accelerated like I normally do and probably put some pressure on the right handlebar. At that point counter steering took over and the bike stood straight up, I was riding on the outside of the lane and didn't have time to react so off the road I went and down a embankment which was about 12 to 14 feet down at about a 45 deg angle There were trees in front of me so I bailed off and wasn't hurt to severely. The bike really had little damage but the insurance company decided to Total it and that's how I wound up with my RSV. The Wing is currently at Co-Part and I'm watching the bids, if I can get it back at a reasonable cost I'll spend the few dollars to put it back together and sell it.

Just returned from Illinois with a 2008 RSV. Yamaha's are new to me as I've always been a GW rider until I got stupid and dumped mine off a 12 ft deep embankment, but I couldn't resist this bike when I found out it only had 1969 miles on it and the previous owner just needed to get out from under the payments. So far like a lot of posts I've read the biggest problem has been getting use to moving my feet forward instead of straight up. The other thing is the engine sounds a bit tinny to me compared to the 6 cyl wing, and doesn't have near the power. Other then those minor changes I love my RSV. I'll be making some changes to the lighting as soon as my pocketbook allows and possibly a seat upgrade. Thanks to everyone who has posted what they've done to improve this great machine. Hope to meet some other RSV riders who live around the DFW area. Until then keep the shiny side up. Jim
