  3. Reserve lighting Unit might be the culprit, or like others said, wiring. The fuse block upgrade is pretty easy, Skydoc sells them, he even walked me thru a couple parts over the phone...try that with Yamaha!

  7. im not real familiar with the 1100 Yammy. If your looking at later model bikes, I would definitely consider 1300 for 2-up touring. Yammy definitely, or even a VTX.
  8. ended up being stator, replaced stator with Ricks Hot Shot, and Shindigen R/R. It ventually just died and wouldn't restart, within a week of this happening. Do the stator tests, if that's it, replace the r/r with it.

  11. klr is a great bike! I want another one! just sold my cr500, tired of rebuilding it every 30 hours or so. if you get the klr, I have a new trunk plate for mounting, well, a trunk or pelican case. powdercoated black, never installed. let me know! oh, Happy Trails panniers are best! im actually using pelicans on my Venture!

  14. I mounted the Shindigen up front, off the radiator cover. it gets plenty off air.....

  17. check all connections on left side of bike, starting with fuel pump..then the plugs from the stator, they have a tendency to melt

  21. yes, but make sure you use the right wire for gps. it needs to be "stepped down" in voltage so it doesn't fry the electronics. I really don't know how it works, but that's what im told....like skydoc said, im an "electrical weenie"....
  22. most hardwire kits have an inline fuse
  23. it can be rebuilt, but its a giant pain. I rebuilt mine 3 times before I just broker down and bought a new one...$475! the seals are a pain to set!
  24. there are specific hardwire kits for diff gps's. check ebay, or buy form gps manufacturer. I use a Powerlet...
