  1. its called a "presta".[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9byRp9e2USU]Presta Valve - YouTube[/ame]
  2. around town, im rarely out of third. this is my first vr. love it. challenging electrically, but fun. it just comes alive around 4000 rpm. i ride 5500-6000 all the time. kills the mpgs a little but im going to get the different shims from skydoc. maybe pick up a couple more mpgs. have fun!
  3. the front end did lift up when i moved it around a bit. springs doing their job, i guess. have stock springs. should probably do the progressive springs. but after talking to skydoc, i want different forks to do the r1 brakes, and de link, and stainles, and, and, and ,and........ would be happy with just some air in the thing, so it doesnt bottom out. i looked at the frame closely last night. spent about an hour going over it and didnt see any cracks. southern bike, 32k. sat in a garage with 20 other bike projects for most of its life. the guy had this russian bike with sidecar. the sidecar had a drive axle. 2WD. pretty cool.
  4. before, with air in it, leaned a bit too much. high on the center stand. now, with no air, perfect! but its not what i need.
  5. that looks great. thanks for the tip!
  6. i disconnected the compressor chasing a taillight problem. it was showing e4. i resoldered the joints and still nothing. so i unhooked the 2 lines at the compressor and let, what little air there was, out. causing it to drop at front and rear. lowrider style.
  7. i got mine out of the top. removed battery and battery box, as well as air cleaner box. i used a long hacksaw blade to cut the right ear off completely. then hacked thru as far as i could on the left, about halfway, and gently pryed it loose. it just kinda snapped off the other ear.
  8. anyone have a writeup on how to add fitting to the hose that attach to the pumps? my class is shot, bike is practically riding on the fender.
  9. how did you wire in the bag lights?
  10. i like what you did with the chrome intake vents. how did you do that? how do they come off? i found one screw, but it didnt want to come out.
  11. sweet blonde. check out my posts about gauge color change and carbon fiber today.
  12. it was. i fixed it. here are some pics installed. i added carbon fiber to instument pod. pretty sweet indeed!
  13. you will have to call directly. they "only" do car gauges. this is a new adventure for them also.
  14. Like i said in my previous post, gauge overlays came in. today, while some BORING football was on ( Michigan doesnt play till 330), i decided to give it a whirl. heres what i did.... i removed the cluster. took out message center, to check for solder breaks. unscrewed the 6 screws holding the black faceplate on to expose gauges. cleaned gauges with dustfree cloth. removed overlays and spread out on clean work surface. carefully removed tach overlay and sprayed with enclosed solution (soapy water). punched out tiny hole where needle stop is with a paperclip. carefully slid overlay over gauge face and aligned using a maglite. used enclosed squeegee to remove bubbles. voila!! did this on temp, volt, and speedo. speedo didnt quite line up right for my 83vr. off by 5mph. dont care, these look sweet!!! its really made for 86-94, skydoc sent them a cluster. thanks earl! reassembled cluster. these were custom made for our forum!! please show your support and get a great custom look! price is 19.99 for white. a dozen other colors are available. check out their site at www.whitegauges.net. it was sooooo easy that im getting a set for my car too! i also ordered some carbon fiber sheet to upgrade the look of the instrument pod itself. writeup to follow soon. GO BLUE! took less than an hour!
  15. ok, so i got the dash overlay kit from whitegauges.net last week. just havnt had the time to post, sorry. im going to show some pics of the kit, then later this week do a writeup of the installation. looks very straightforward. the only problem i have, is apparently the 83 speedo is different. where it sdays "60" on my speedo, it will be "55" on the overlay. no biggie, just watch my speed by 5mph. this kit is available for 19.99, i believe. colors other than white, will be more. thank you all for your patience, and thanks to skydoc for the extra guages. they custom made these just for us !!! please post a reply if you intend on ordering. i would like to keep up with it. thanks. i just ordered some carbon fiber sheet from jdm, to change the appearance of the instrument pod. waiting for that first, so i dont have to remove cluster twice.
  16. 83-85 show the same part numbers for the speedo and tach. even though the cmu changed, i think the meters stayed the same to 93. someone correct me if im wrong
  17. im having what may be a similar problem. i already hardwired the stator. melted plugs. but know, after the bike warms up, it start to cut out and act as if its going to die. but it starts going again. the tach drops to zero, bike sputters, and then normal for a mile or two. rectifier?
  18. guages have been sent out by skydoc. turn around time, according to whiteguages.net, is about 2-3 weeks before we can start getting overlays. this allows time for developement. white guages, im excited!!
  19. i grew up in dearborn. my favorite is the estate itself. really cool building with battery room from hydropower! rumor has it, theres buried treasure around the estate. have fun. oh, check out the Yasmeen Bakery on warren. sooooo much good food. go early.
  20. ill take a thousand of them. i have a briefcase full of invisible $20.00 as trade.
  21. i am trusting you. i also have these on my car.
  22. thats a good question! this highoutput would be the way to go for me.
  23. ok, so in the first post: i solder 4 jumpers to the areas pointed out? i have hids and leds.
