bike stumbling at idle?
reddevilmedic replied to reddevilmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
definately a stumble. carb diaphrams are good. just replaced 2 of them. seafoam keeps fouling out the plugs.....i have the choke off. it definately "smells" like its running rich. -
bike is stumbling at idle, dropping down in rpms, them back up. over and over. bike is warm. i replaced the plugs, relatively new wires, new to me tci. any ideas?

unfortunately, sales managers are interested in just that, SALES. even though most of the money the dealer makes is in service and parts. my family has been a ford, lincoln-merc dealer since 1955. i chose the military route, less stress, and i got to retire already, albeit a broken back, but still.....

sore loser. -
after changing the plugs, changing the oil, i decided to install skydocs shim kit before i synced the carbs using the carbtune pro i got from zane. thanks again zane. 3 carbs, no problem. last carb, DOH! i must have put the nylon nut ever so slightly wrong, and SNAP! broke a diaphragm housing. lack of patience i suppose. only had about a good 2 hours of clear weather before the rain came this weekend. i found some new ones on ebay. so i bought 2, 1 for a backup. and i got 2 needle kits, just for spares.

i came up with a way to keep the cold weather off my knee too.....

well most tank bags have mags in them now. i was going to mount metal plates to the underside of the tank cover, directly under the bag. that way i can still just "pull" the bag off and take it with me.

the compression fittings are 1/4 to 1/8, i got those at ace hardware. the 1/4 is at the hose end, where the air line is going into. but they didnt have the 1/8 schrader valve fitting. i found those at parker supply. they were in a goodyear center. they have all kinds of hydraulic stuff. since they didnt have a female schrader, i used a coupling between them. with loctite, about 20.00. if you have a hard time finding the pieces let me know, ill pick them up and you can paypal me.
