  1. sorry guys, still in my early 40's, chasing women younger. when i trade by bike for a Hovaround, i will let ya know!
  2. pics are great! keep us posted!
  3. ive had my 83 for about 10 months now. i done most of the upgrades in the tech section, just not front springs yet. that is cetainly next. i also run a avon venom up front with an e3 in the rear. i DID change the way it rides compared to the e2's that were on there previously. around here, the ride changes with the road im on. some much better than others. on some, there is a lot of front end travel, but not on others. i recently rode to the Keys, and it was a fantastic trip. hitting speed of 100 with no issues at all with bags and 80 lbs of gear. i max out the tire pressure on the front, with 15lbs of air in forks. rear is at 46psi with 60 in the shock. im 220 and 6'3. my previous bike was a v65 magna. i love my venture! gets a lot of attention. im learning how to lay into the corners with more confidence as time goes on. its just a familiarity issue and some good maintenance. good luck!
  4. KIC, its a very difficult and frustrating process. it took me a year and a half to get service related disability. my advice is to have her get a representative to help her with her application. i used the AMERICAN LEGION. good organization. after being 100% for 8 years, i was finally awarded Permanent and Total. thats means my injuries will never get better. it allows my childrenand spouse(if i had one) the opportunity for health care and an education. its worth the fight. i gave my all, they should return the favor.
  5. the PTSD treatment i recieved was "see the pharmacist"! went on for years until i went into recovery, now, not an option. there is no "decompression" therapy for veterans. in my experience ( and i still suffer from PTSD), only time and acceptance can heal these wounds.
  6. nice FJ! i rode one a few weeks backs, pretty comfortable considering im 6'3. i think my alternate bike will be a GS or Tiger. i want to do some ADV riding. dirt bike background...
  7. i recently replaced the throttle cable. GIANT PITA! easy to get off in about 5 minutes, took about 2 hours to get the damn thing back on. i wanted to bust out the 27oz California Framing hammer! although, that wouldnt have helped a damn thing. follow the Condor! IMO...
  8. definately about muscle memory! especially in the dark, THATS when its lying on your bedside table and youre half asleep. MEMORY! thought i would add that i do "dry" runs from the bedside, and leave a VERY specific set of lights on at night, giving ME the advantage!
  9. it was still oem on my 83. i was having some intermittent issue with it. just made a trip to the keys and planning going again in March. not taking any chances of fuel issues on the Tamiami Trail. so far, so good. fires up quicker, comes to idle faster. less sluggish at the throttle. then I synced. riding to custom bike builders show tomorrow at Quaker. ya buddy! somewhere on here, others talked about using this 42s, havnt steered me wrong yet!
  10. heres my 2 cents...Amsoil 10w40. period. im glad i got to chime in early. do i win something??lol.
  11. i carried the 92fs in the service. i carry now the ruger p series, 9mm. great combat pistol. good holster is Fobus, about 25 bucks ebay.
  12. i didnt see anyone mention that you can remove the antidive after the progressive install. Skydoc sells the blockoff plates. progressives are my next project. keep chasing a sudden dropoff in volts and rpms at idle, in gear. i just replaced stator, r/r, fuel pump. tci. etc. just checked carb sync...ouch!! way off again. had a couple bad vacuum port plugs. synced nice...raining, ride it later.
  13. I get everything from Earl, well, as much as possible. Great guy, HUGE help. Hey Earl, wheres my caliper??LOL!!! take your time, im just teasing. its still great riding weather here.
  14. pic of 42s installed. thanks !
  15. ive been running this h.i.d setup on my 83 for 7 months without a glitch. i can even turn them off using the switch cuz theres no high beam. running them in both cars also, one, for over 18 months now.
  16. i just did the stator replacement and voltage rectifier. also from skydoc. i ruined the first cover gasket because i didnt dry-fit the parts first. the cover didnt go on as easy as it came off. be sure you dry fit it. i had problems with the dowels not seating in the cover, had some burrs on them. i had to dremel the holes open a little, then it went on no problem. just sayin, i had to get a second gasket from earl. very frustrating. also, the new screws that hold the magnet in place are a little longer than factory, and had to use an extra washer to seat it correctly. if you have any questions, call me. thanks. have fun!!
  17. i bought a one owner mazda b4000 (ranger) 4x4. i have made some improvements. i installed a BBK 66mm throttle body, a K&N FIPK, an Accel coil, 8mm wires, and DynoMax cat back exhaust. my question is : what about fuel? the stock injectors run at about 22lbs. bosch. if i upgrade to a 30lb, will performance gains be noticable? im sure gas mileage will suffer a little, but my thought is: more air (done) , more fuel ( not yet) equals more h.p. right??
  18. i always thought the early 90's corvette zr1 are a steal in the 20k range. mopar 6 packs seem to be the rage.
  19. ok, so i got a 42s fuel pump. it comes with a screw-in filter. should i leave this filter on as well as the inline filter i already have?? or should i just go to ACE and get a fitting, and leave my stock filter? thanks.
  20. i took my floorboards off. sloppy play in the heel-toe shifter. oem works better.
  21. i also have froggs, but also have a set of Bilt stormpants i got from Cyclegear for 80$. warm and dry.
  22. nice! heres mine!
