  3. you have definately found the right place! i had all those problems, and more, when i first bought my 83. the advice that was given IS SPOT ON! the Skydoc fuse kit in the classifieds has easy to follow instructions. brake bleeding can be a pain, might want to think about Speedbleeders. i have a headlight icon on also, it goes off from time to time. i ecently removed the HID system i had in there, so its time for a new bulb. all of these repairs can be done BY YOU. im no mechanic, and with these guys help, i have one sweet ride today! join us!
  4. correct. after i removed the radio and cassette deck, there should be a different pocket and cover.
  5. "Sring" in title..."sping" in message.....might need a new computer!
  6. thanks, maybe someone will chime in before then. but, keep me in mind nonetheless.
  7. i was concened with the spot pattern, thats why i went flood. i went on a lighthouse tour and the Park Ranger at one of them said "those lights sure are bright!" we talked about them for about 15minutes. he wants to put some on the ATV they have on the grounds! i live in deer country also, saved my butt a couple times already! they definately get peoples attention, and by people i mean cagers.
  8. does anyone have for sale/trade a left side fairing cover for an MK1 standard? i removed radio and cassette. sorry, Earl got cassette, but i have the radio. also, i imagine the pocket is different also. i would like one in original condition, no cut-outs.
  9. "Stay faster my First Gens"
  10. i clicked on it and my bank account exploded......
  11. those are really nice...and pricey. i wanted the classic glasspacklook, red powdercoat. i paid 64 for the pair. autozone online. 2"ID
  12. sent a PM. ya, i did the 42s with no issues now for about a year. good luck!
  13. i doubt the volume had anything to do with it, but it did run rich. still does, just doesnt seem to smell as bad now. just ran the heck out of it.....its-a nice-a!
  14. some decel popping, but, had that anyways. sounds really sweet when engine braking!
  15. just got back from 2 hr ride. these things hum nicely...not too overbearing at all. nice low grumble. i even noticed better throttle response, especially in 5th gear!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vqywoIpaAc&feature=youtu.be. kinda crappy video, bike is louder in person.
  16. call me crazy, but, i saw a video of these on a RS, so, i put some on my 1st Gen! easy, less than 100 bucks. took a little tweaking with hangers to get centerstand to come up, but done! man, they sound good in the saddle for sure! ps...no welding. thrush part #24202. ID 2", overall length 27". used reducers from advance auto, 4 clamps. custom hang strap courtesy of local harware store, painted black.
  17. i would like to go, now that i have bike running ......again...
  18. no. you can find blanks on ebay, then just take it to local ACE hardware. they can cut it.
  19. ive done all those things to my 83. and some.....
  20. hey raybear...check this out!http://nmi.craigslist.org/mcy/3127938663.html.
  21. what he said. i also hard wired the parts. no plugs. battery needs to be fully charged also before running, according to Ricks. i also ran the r/r directly to batt and ground on frame.
  22. i just put in a Ricks over the 4th. also, a Shidigen r/r. this is my third stator. the other 2 were not ricks. im getting about 14v while running now. didnt test it exactly, dont have a clamp on. i am using a AGM. even with turn signals still pulling 12v. did it having the stator coolin kit installed? it looks like Ricks writes it own part number on the stator.
  23. i dont believe the trunk to be 62L. one of the largest givi trunks is 52L, and it should swallow the stock trunk. i put a bestem 42L on my fiirst gen, and its about equal in size to stock. just sayin...
