Yeah one thing everyone learns real fast with a Venture is to park smart. I never try to back mine up with the wife on board, even though she only about 98 pounds soaking wet. If you make the Cedar Key run and want some company let me know, I am due for run over that way , have not been to west coast for about a year. The Ft Lauderdale STAR chapter is sponsoring a BBQ on the 25th of April over in Leesburg during the bike fest. Let me know if you want the details. Ride Safe

Marco, Now that you have had the Venture for a few days, let us know how you like it?? Again if there is anything I can do to help, (being semi-local) just ask. Are you planning to make it to the Leesburg,FL bike fest 24 Apr to 26 Apr? Take care
-
Really I thought that green color was moss because they are so slow.
-
Marco Is that the one in Port Orange? If it is, it is only 10 miles from me, if you need any help or just want some company when you pick it up for a portion of the ride home let me know, we can meet some place. Always good to meet new owners and members. Make sure you you get it straight to a dealer to transfer the warrenty. Probably should find out which local dealer the owner was doing business with, they should be able to transfer the warrenty on the spot. Let me know what I can do to help.

Maintenance on a RSV

Marco If I recall correctly from your other post you are in the Melborune area? I am in Edgewater, just south of Daytona, if you find a venture you like and need any help or information I am glad to help. One thing you will probably want to get is a handheld tach and a Morgan Carbtune for synching the carbs, I have both and can show you how easy it is to do if you like. Other than that just keep the oil changed, fluids in good shape and ask the shop to lube the rear splines any time time they have rear wheel off and you are good to go for hundreds of thousands of miles. -
Who makes the best quality slip-ons?

I have the KROMEWERKS no problem with fitment or rust, lots of compliments on the sound. The guy I bought mine from and who I normally recommend sold his business, but the new owner said he would try and carry them if he can. If you are interested, go to www.SOTMC.com and email DR Xtreme about the pipes, tell him I sent you, and let see what he can do. Good luck -
As I recall from the days when I had my 98 TC, that connector was always tough to get apart. Sometimes a little rocking the top part back and forth along the long axis while holding the bottom worked. Patience is the key.

Meguires and I am sure other wax manufacures make scratch and swirl removers. I have used both for single scratches and swirls that appear after several washings. They work pretty well , it is a slow process and sounds like you have affected a large area. Try going to Meguires web site they usually have pretty good help sections. Good luck

Do a search on Google for Vapor Polishing Plastic and see if there is a compnay in your local area that an do it. Sometimes just the application of heat from a good heat gun and I have seen people actually use a propane torch very lightly to help clear up some plastics. BE CAREFULL IF YOU DO THIS You could also try some of these kits for refurbishing plastic headlight covers, I have seen them in the autoparts stores.

Wind Deflector ?
M61A1MECH replied to RonL's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Dan The ones on my bike are straight out of the Yamaha accessory catalog, I ordered them from Roush and see the link I posted in a previous reply. I am not sure why there is a difference in the catalog picture and the actual part that is delivered. Worst case if do not like what you get you could send them back or sell them to another member. Good luck. -
Wind Deflector ?
M61A1MECH replied to RonL's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I purchased mine from Roush Accessories, see previous posts for a link. Personally I have never actually seen the smoke tinted set only the clear. -
When I first got my 07 I started getting pains in my shoulder blades, not teh same as your lower back, but the addition of 1.5" risers changed my posture just enough to get rid of the pain. That was 28,000 miles ago and no issues. It could be your riding posture, the vibrations in the RSV should not be so severe as to cause back pain.

yep, was in the Daytona paper this past weekend, thought they would have tried to hang on for bikeweek.

I just looked over the list of submissions for Florida, the Cancun Lagoon listedhas just closed rhis week, so you should not list it.

I was wondering there are any other folks on this website former or current that worked for McDonnell Douglas Services on the Peace Sun Program in Saudia Arabia? I worked for the program for 4 years from 1982 to 1986 in Taif as mechanic/trainer on the M61A1 20mm cannon on the F-15. (Thus my screen name) I did run into one old friend, Mark Eaton, about a year ago as a result of this forum and the STAR web site. Really quite an experience living in that part of the world, but much more relaxed then than today. Would enjoy hearing from anyone out there.

Handle Bar Risers
M61A1MECH replied to midnightsunrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes there is enough slack available in the cables so you do not have to change them. It takes a liittle tugging and pulling, make sure to check the throttle does not stick when you are at the full left or right stops. -
Ruffy, That is all good news, as hard as it is do what the doctor says, looking forward to seeing you at the next FLA meet and greet.

Handle Bar Risers
M61A1MECH replied to midnightsunrider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I put them on my 07 an found that yuo get a bit of shake in the fairing on hard bumps. I made a set of extensions for the rubber bumpers out of rubber inserts that are sold to put into coil springs on car suspensions. Reshaped the original bumpers a bit and then linked the two parts with a metal strap. Works very well and looks OK, they are prety well hidden down under the fairing. See the links below for photos. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSCN0415.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/DSCN0416.jpg One other issue with the risers is that they will hit the plastic fairing that covers the ignition switch when you turn the bars to the stops on either side. Does not hurt any thing but does scuff the ignition cover a little bit. -
Well from 1998 to 2001 theTOUR CLASSIC had soft leather bags and the TOUR DELUXE hadhard bags. Other than that they are the same.
