  1. I received the same with mine back in 07, I believe they are the same as the ones in the load on the CB antennae , not sure why they would give extras, but I have talked with a few owners who also got them and no explanation. I asked the sales guy about them when I picked my bike up, and he was clueless. Figued they wer just extras. possible that Yamaha includes extra screws because they are so small that they could get lost easy before they are installed. I will also say that more than one person has reported losing their CB antennae, maybe they are just in case you find a set screw missing before the antennae departs the bike, that way you will be able to replace the scew and keep the antennae intact.
  2. A very special cat (see link) needs rescuing in Columbus. http://www.devonrexbreedclub.com/rescue2.html Devon's are very special, I should know I have two. They love people, purr like crazy and are the best bed warmers for those cold winter nights. They shed very little and many folks that are alegic to regular cats can have Devons with no ill effects. Take a look at the link , If you can help you will not be sorry. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/royalsteve/MickeyandI2.jpg
  3. I had a similar problem on my 07 and it turned out to be an out of round front tire. Was a little hard to detect, the dealer had to put it on the balancer and spin it while watching the top surface. It did not show up as a problem with the balance. Some times while riding it was more noticable that others.
  4. One difference between conventional automobile oils and motorcycle oils is the addition of friction inhibitors in the automobile oils. For motorcycles with wet clutches that share the same oil for the clutch and the crankcase ( like the Royal Star line) you can get clutch slippage form those oils with friction inhibitors. There are lots of threads on this and other forums that talk about this, should be easy to get as many diferent opinions as you care to read pretty easily. Me; if it does not say "formulated for wet clutches" , it is not going in my bike.

  7. See this link http://www.gizmag.com/page/6/ about half way down the page to see a photo MOTORCYCLES Yamaha set to launch hybrid production motorcycle for 2010 By Ben Purvis 02:35 June 22, 2009 PDT Back in 2005, Yamaha showed the wacky 2005 Gen-Ryu hybrid concept bike at the Tokyo Motor Show amidst a raft of other very non-conventional two wheelers such as the aptly named FC-Me fuel cell bike, the ingenious Deinonychus elec tric reconfigurable motorcycle, the Chivicker, Passol and the Maxam two-wheeled limousine. Now it appears certain the bike will become a showroom model in 2010. A series of patent applications detail the new motorcycle which uses the YZF-R6 600cc engine to turn a generator which in turn powers the rear wheel. History shows that every Yamaha styling patent published over the last 20 years has resulted in a full production machine, so there's little doubt this one is also heading for a showroom near you in the very near future. You can expect to see it in the flesh for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year. Read More

  10. Marco; The KROMWERKS on my 07 were actually made for a Harely, KROMEWERKS just adds the adapter bracket so they will bolt up to the Venture muffler hangers and sells the kit as part number 68050. The installation instructions say the mufflers are for F/L 85 to 98 and Touring models. The brackets to adapt them to the Venture is part number 680855 (left) and 680856 (right) along with the nut plate part number 2099801 (one needed for each side). If you can find a used set on Ebay or someplace else you may be able to order the brackets and nut plates from Kromwerks.
  11. Does the noise change if it is idling in neutral and you pull in the clutch lever? My 98 Royal Star Tour Classic had a noise similar to what you have described and it would change or go away when ever I pulled in the clutch lever. Never really worried about it and rode that bike for 96,000 miles and as far as I know she still being ridden on a regular basis. But it is hard to know with out hearing it.
  12. Yeah we need someone on the left coast or central FL to step up, everything I have been to since I got involved here has been over here on the the right coast.
  13. Anyone in FL that wants to tour the back country of Volusia, Seminole, Lake, Marion, Sumter, Pasco or Hernando counties just let me know. I have ridden just about every back road from Daytona to Cedar key down to Tampa and back to th eeast caost across thru Lakeland and on to Orlando. I am just about always up for ride on the weekends.
  14. If you go to the STAR web site you can find the owners manuals for both the Venture and the Tour Deluxe, if you look at the specifications page you will see all of the gear ratios listed. The Venture and the Tour Deluxe have the same ratios for 4th and 5th. 4th = 24/25 or 0.960, 5th = 22/28 or 0.786, technically any ratio that is less than 1 is an overdrive, so both 4th and 5th are overdrive gears, albeit 4th is just barely.
  15. Craig I have the same issue, usualy with a little adjusting of the mirrors I can get to where I can see just a bit of it. I have thought about maybe getting a couple of flag holders and putting them on the handle, but never did more than think about it.
  16. BUB (http://www.bubent.com/index.cfm) made full systems for 98 Royal Star, a few years ago. They do not show them on the web site , but you could contact them, in today's economy many companies are taking what ever work they can get. Otherwise check E-bay and the Delphi forums someone may have a set they are selling. Check Royal Star Riders over on Delphi, look for this post in the for sale / wanted section. From: FireANDIron May-6 9:04 pm To: Stogie (stogie2u) (4 of 7) 7371.4 in reply to 7371.3 I posted an ad for some I have if your interested shoot me an email and If you want I can send ya some pics bub headers about 300 miles and two sets of screaming eagle exhaust pipes that slip right on

  18. Yep that is the overflow, float is stuck or the needle valve has trash in it., Try shutting of the pet cock and running the carbs dry, then a good dose of seafoam.
  19. You can download a PDF version from the Yamaha web site, I just checked my owners manual that came with mt 07, it agrees with the web version. Curious that the factory shop manual also says 8K oil and filter change. 8K sounds like a lot of miles for regular DINO oil.
  20. I pull a Bushtec Roadstar and really like it. I have never pulled any other type of trailer with a bike , so I have no way to say if it is any better than another, but it really does pull well and is very stable. There are a couple of used Bushtec trailers on the Bushtec website, go to the forum section and check it out. Sometimes you can find a deal from Bushtec if you catch them at an event, I picked mine up at an event in Daytona, it was a demo unit they wanted to move, got for about a grand off list price. Another nice thing about the Bushtec is the hitch and the way it mounts to the Royalstar models. They just replace the center stay that connects the stays under the bags with a new piece that has the hitch pin welded on to it. Good luck with what ever you decide.
  21. The owner's manual I downloaded from Yamaha says; Change oil & filter @ 600 miles, then change oil @ 4000 miles and the filter @ 8,000 miles and repeat the 4K & 8K routine. My normal routine with regular oil is to change oil and filter every 3K to 4 K, when I switched to AMSOIL I decided that I would maintain the 3k filter change , but take advantage of the longer life of the synthetic oil and change it at 6K.
  22. The link is not working.
  23. Only way to know for sure is take it in and ask. Do not be surprized if they say no it is not covered, if they say no, ask why nicely.
  24. Had one on my 98TC for 8.5 years, it was the first addition I made to my 07 Venture, would not ride with out it. Very easy to install, resize two holes, do put a block of wood or rubber between the seat pan and the fender when resizing the hole, in case the drill bit grabs and heads south for the fender.
  25. Crawl under the bike and look at the rear shock, could be just an over filled crankcse also. If the shock is shot there will be oil under the rubber boot, Have the original owner get that taken care of before you purchase. It will be covered umder the 5 year warenty, but I bet the original owner will get better service from the dealer than the second owner, and why should you go thru the hassel of that anyway. My 07 is the same color, get a lot of compliments on it, even from the Harley guys.
