  1. Have you thought about the Dunlop E3s, I am running those on my 07, have about 13,500 miles on them now and still have plenty of tread left. They handle well and have no issues with cracks or chunking, wet roads , like we ever have those in Florida, are no problem, traction is always good with the E3s.
  2. Gary, This is not apples to apples as far as your question, because they used a standard Royal Star not a Venture to start with and they used a V-max engine, but essenntially that is what you will have when you are done. http://www.best-motorcycle.com/yamaha/neutron-star.shtm Good luck.
  3. Try NADA, http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles/Motorcycles, they tend to be a bit higher than KBB, I generally tend to split the difference between the two.
  4. Is that the correct weight blinker fluid for water cooled blinkers or is it only good for air cooled ones?
  5. You can PM me at stevemarilyn@hotmail.com or use the PM system here on the forum. Include your name, address, quanity and year model of your bike. I will send you a harness on approval. When you get the harness and are sure it is what you want and it works for your application, send me a check, money order or cash to the address on the invoice.
  6. give me a call, I will be happy to put my Morgan Carbtune on it for you, should only take about 15 minutes.
  7. If you are going to add a trailer harness for your bike , consider using one of the plug and play harnesses I have for sale on the classified page. Will make connecting a lot easier. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4200&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-royal-star-venture&cat=35
  8. Nothlng on the second gen except the color has changed since it was introduced.
  9. Use this link to the tech area here. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29772 check pages 20 and 21.
  10. Reminded me of the first miracle performed by the first Polish Pope, John Paul II. He made a blind boy , lame.
  11. Try this link to Yamaha's web site you can search for dealers there. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/corporate/dealers/locator.aspx?ls=corporate
  12. Midnight venture may have something there I completely missed that detail. Could be the shock. Check the boot around the shock and the bottom of the shock to see if it is wet.
  13. My 07 does that if I do long high speed runs on the Interstate, it is just blow by. You can pull the secondary air box under the tank where the vent tube is connected and wipe out the excess oil that has collected, that will stop the oil spots.
  14. I all ways pull the tank completely off. There is one electrical connection and a rubber vent hose under the plastic cowl that is around the ignition switch. Make sure you turn the petcock to off before you pull the fuel line, (do not ask ).
  15. I always pull the tank just to be sure I do not ding it with a tool. On my Venture I pull the front dog bone struts also, those I pull one at a time just to be sure the motor does not shift, I am not sure if it would with both dog bones out or not, but why take the chance, I can only work on one plug at a time so there is no reason to have both off at the same time.
  16. I have not heard any reports of the fan brackets breaking on the Ventures, but it was pretty common on the first edition Royal Stars. You may want to make sure the support brackets are intact.
  17. The bleeder is under a cover on the left side, below the faux fin under a rubber flap, unless you have the chrome after market cover installed.
  18. I just had mine done by the dealer in Daytona Beach, cost just s bit over $400.00. So if you are getting it for less than that you are geting a deal.
  19. On the Yamaha web page you can search for dealers by location , they publish their hours and contact information. I see a few that are open on Sundays, make sure you get a gasket for the cover also, you are going to need that. Here is a llink that may work. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/dealers/locator.aspx?ls=star#Motorcycles|Cadillac, MI||
  20. These are for second GENs , I can not find the connectors for the first GENs, if the ones you saw were at Don's MD this year, those were mine and they were for second GENs. Like I said to previous poster, send me your mailing address and I will send you a harness on approval, shipping to Canada is a bit more than inside the US.
  21. Send me a PM with your mailing address and I will send you a harness on approval. After you get the harness and are sure it is what you want and works as needed for your application send me a check, money order or cash to the address on the invoice that comes with the harness. I can put one in the mail today.
  22. When you get to connecting the wire harness take a look at at this listing in the classified section. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4200&title=auxillary-tail-light-harness-for-royal-star-venture&cat=35
  23. I am sure that all it needs is to reshim the needles, but his last post said: The bike is set to run lean from the factory with paper filters, if you change to filters like K&N that flow more air, the bike is going to be even more lean, some something has to be done to the bike or the paper filters need to go back in to get it back to the factory set up, well that is how I see it any ways. Unless the filters are not oiled properly I am not sure what else could be done. Reshimming the needles is not a big deal and only takes about 30 minutes.
  24. Yes talk to Carl, but do not let him touch it, because the muffler will fall off. :-)
  25. Ken, I agree with Carl, but if you are convinced that the spacer was there I would certianly press them to return it or replace it. I am curious which of the two local metric dealers you went to? The one there in Deland I do not believe they are a Yamaha motorcycle dealer or service center, only Yamaha watercraft, they do sell other metric motorcycles, the other one in Sanford is a Yamaha motorcycle dealer, with a good reputation. I normally only go to dealres that are certified on Yamaha ,motorcycles when I need work done that I am not comfortable doing my self. If you need a good Yamaha service provider that is a bit farther away I would recomend the one in Daytona Beach, they have always done great work on my Venture. Good luck getting this resolved.
