Has anyone ever put a side car on their RSV
M61A1MECH replied to stickhandle2's topic in Watering Hole
Check out Peter Booth's set up, very nice and color matched. here is his profile page http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?9228-peterbooth -
So if you have access to the email account can you protect it with a password? If you do that it should lock him out until he figures out the password. And I agree any IT guy worth half what he is being paid should be able to track down the offending computer based on the info in the header. I know on my hotmail account all I have to do is right click on the message and select "View Message Source" that way I can see who sent the email, who else got the email and read the email with no concerns about viruses being down loaded before my anti virus soft ware catches it.

help! Need help on bleeding clutch line
M61A1MECH replied to cruiserlover's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Plus I have found that slightly tapping on the line all the back as far as you can when the lever is pulled back also helps to dislodge stuck bubbles. -
That is exactly what I picked up at Home Depot today, works well. I have one more piece to install and trim and it will be done. I will say I am no carpet guy, it turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected, lots of odd shapes and contours to deal with, I anticipated that, but it was more of a challenge than I expected. The net result will be an improvement, but the quality of my installation is not what I expect from me , so I am a little disappointed. I will try to smooth out some of the wrinkles and rough edges once it is all done and I can see the full effect. If I can make it look decent so as not to embarrass myself I will post some before and after photos. UP side, you can not see the inside as long as the lid is closed, and that is how the trailer stays 95% of the time.

Thanks, I was concerned about the possible over spray with an aerosol type contact adhesive, this would eliminate that.

I have had my Bushtec trailer for a number of years I bought a demo unit for cheap ( sorta cheap by Bushtec standards) , the thing is the interior is not 100% carpeted. The inside of the lid, front and rear bulkheads are not carpeted, just have rough fiberglass that is painted white. The white will rub off on things, so I always end up covering the load with a towel or 2 to keep the transfer down. Yesterday I found some carpet at a surplus store that matches pretty well and I am planning on getting some to trim out the interior. Yes there is a question in here. There are no anchor points inside the trailer to fasten the carpet to , I was told by Bushtec a number of years ago to use spray on contact cement to fix the carpet to the trailer interior. Has anyone here done this to a Bushtec or similar trailer? How did you do it and how did it turn out? What tricks did you learn that I could benefit from? Thanks

I had a friend here in Florida that put deer whistles on his car, he claimed they worked because he never saw any deer, I asked him if he ever saw any polar bears? He said no with a funny look on his face, I explained that obviously those whistles also worked on polar bears , because he never saw them either. He did not really see the humor in that. On a serious note, I have had two very close encounters wit deer, both were when I was riding very quiet bikes. The first was right after I got my Venture and still had stock pipes, a doe came across the road right in front of me, a second or two later or 2 or 3 more MPH on my part and I would have clocked her. Road my Venture for 6.5 years after that an never had any close encounters. The second time was last November on my Goldwing, again stock pipes , very quiet, this time a deer came out onto the road while I was doing about 55 MPH, this time it was so close that her back hooves stuck me and he bike as she was jumping out of the way. One hoof hit my left boot right on the toe , the other tapped some place on the Tupperware, I heard it and felt the bike shudder. Looked back and she was gone and my drawers needed changing. So yes new or different noises may well play a part in deer avoidance.

Back in the day, Yamaha contracted with Bushtec trailers to come up with some customized Royal Stars for a few years (2 or 3), they were very limited editions, the Palominos were some of those bikes. Like anything in this world, they only worth what the next guy is willing to pay, but for a true Royal Star nut, they are often sought after. There is a member here and on Delphi Royal Star forum that re covers seats, I am sure Woody would do a great job, and he is here in the central Florida area, in or near Orlando. If you are interested I can find him for you. OH welcome to the looney bin.

Thanks Dave and everyone else that has replied, some very good information.

A friend that just got one, told me to stay 35 foot or smaller, because of restrictions on some roads and parks. Thanks to all that have replied thus far, good info.

Agreed, but because I do not know, I would like to hear about all potential aspects. Cowpuc had some very good ideas, and that is what I want to hear, options so I can start to form an opinion on what would suit us best, financially and comfort. We looked at some toy haulers a number of years ago, but the garage section takes up so much room they did not seem practical. used motor coaches A,B or C are very plentiful here in Florida, so finding one of those we can afford should not be an issue, just not sure if that is good choice. As Micarl pointed out, cost and fuel will pay for a lot of hotel rooms. There is much to think about.

The wife has decided that when we retire we will get an RV and tour the country. I know nothing about RVs, so I am soliciting input from anyone tat owns one or has owned one to get some ideas on which ones are better than others and what we should look for to spot problems or issues , like leaks or malfunctioning leveling systems. thanks

"so all the " shake " should have floated to the top of overflow tank and radiator right? turkey bast it out? tampon? " Maybe, there is a lot of places for that soup to get caught and coat surfaces, I have seen recommendations recently to mix dawn dish washing liquid with distilled water and use that to flush out the system. probably need to do it a few times and then rinse with distilled water again to get all the detergent out. I have never tried it, but will if I ever need to do it on my GL.

I would not rule out the water pump. in fact that would be the first place I would go. There have been more documented cases of water pump seals failing than Twinkie seals failing. The hard part is once you get the water pump rebuilt is getting all of the residual oil out of the coolant system, not sure I ever got my 98 completely cleaned out.

Looking for accessories for GW Trike
M61A1MECH replied to Mike G in SC's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
Mike , get over to the GL1800riders forum and ask about MIC-O PEGs fitting a trike, also Kury makes a system that goes on the front crash bars that braces under the heads to keep them from rotating on the bar, they are adjustable for and aft to a point , and have various arms you can add. There are some other folks that offer plates for the rear floor boards so you can adjust them up and down and also a set of folding foot pegs that work wit the floorboards. I am on semi bed rest for the next few days and al my resources are in the other room or on a different computer, once I am a bit more mobile I will get you some more specifics. Are talking about a Royal Star Tour Deluxe? AKA Venture with no Trunk or fairing? There was no Royale in 2008, there were Royal Star Ventures and Royal Star Tour DeLuxes, unless that is he Canadian spelling for Royal. Any way you may want to check over on the Delphi Venture forum, I know at least one guy that removed his lowers, he may still have them around.

Just curious, How many Wing Riders do we have on the site?
M61A1MECH replied to Midrsv's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
Congrats, you are going to like that wing. -
I like the looks of the Indians, but from my experience you would be doing yourself a disservice if you do not look at a Wing real close before you decide, especially for that sort of money. Wings have their own issues, but I sure am impressed with mine.

oil in reservoir bottle
M61A1MECH replied to Stuart's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am pretty sure they sell a kit that has the gaskets, seals maybe bearing(s) and what not, best to do it all while you are in there. -
Die and go to heaven...i.e. take your bike to Ireland/England
M61A1MECH replied to Semi-retired's topic in Watering Hole
I just got back from 8 days in Ireland, I agree riding a bike over there would be great, but as noted in an earlier post, they drive on the wrong side of the road, in a car it is not so bad, you have a frame of reference with the steering wheel being on the side towards the center of the road, but not so with a bike. I would need to a big sign on the inside of the windshield or on the dash to remind me to stay on the left side. Heck I had enough trouble remembering to look the correct way for traffic when crossing the street. I would recommend Ireland as a vacation destination, either with a tour company as we did, driving or riding, but do be careful if driving or riding. -
I do not know any one to recommend in J'Ville, but I can recommend Daytona Fun Machines in Daytona Beach, very good service department, if you use them ask for Mark or Roxy and tell them that Steve Kowalcky recommended them. I took my Royal Star, Venture and my Goldwing there for whatever service I elect not to do myself.
