  1. OK I stand corrected, did not realize there was a driveshaft or jack shaft, but makes sense I suppose. I was thinking in a more traditional sense I guess. Good to know, Thanks
  2. I do not have any ideas, but as the Road Star is belt driven, I doubt it has anything to do with drive shaft splines. Try going here http://forums.delphiforums.com/1602 and ask the same question, they may know.
  3. On the banner just below the large field where the advertisers banners come up there is a row of buttons, the 6th one over from the left is named History, click on it. Or click here, http://www.venturerider.org/history/index.php
  4. Will that include Seven of Nine? She should be worth something just for the trunk lid.
  5. You need to PM Freebird, this thread is 7 years old, many of the old attachments were removed during one of the upgrades or something, often Don (Freebird) can go back and get the original attachment and restore it to the thread. I can not recall the last time I saw Dingy on the forum, it has been a couple of years I think, but you could also try PMing Gary (Dingy) also.
  6. I have been seeing a lot of reports of the water pump associated seals going bad in the past few years, when it happened to me on my 98 Royal Star a number of years ago, it stumped the service manager and I both. We did compression checks, leak down tests and did the same research on the coolant and oil flow systems we have done in this thread and came to the realization it was almost certainly the shaft seals on the water pump's driven shaft. I do not recall any one having a bad twinky, but anything is possible.
  7. That is the classic symptom of the water pump seals gone bad. There is a driven shaft that comes from the motor thru an oil seal and a coolant seal that drives the water pump, they have been known to go bad and let oil get pushed into the oil. Because the oil will float on the coolant it tends to gather in the top of the radiator where it will find its way to the over flow drain and into the coolant recovery bottle, where it floats on top of the coolant.
  8. I posted a Nordic track elliptical trainer on Craigs list, got an offer by text message asking for name and address. I replied with the requested info and also asked for them to identify them self. I then another text with no identification info, but telling me that they would send me a cashier's check in two days and then arrange pick up, there would be additional money in the check to cover paying the movers when they arrived and I would use that extra money to pay them. I replied that he should consider the transaction as canceled and advised him not to send the check, as I would void it and return it if he did. So how would this play out, the mover gets there and claims the funds I was given are not sufficient and demands more, or the cashiers check is bogus and I am on the hook for a bad check plus loss of my property? interesting to see how this plays out from here.
  9. Not trying to be critical here, and maybe you have the right touch for installing oil filters, but I have to ask the question, regardless of the make or brand of filter you are using, why are you using a wrench of any type to install the filter. I have always been told that you never use a wrench to install one, and then only hand tight to maybe a 1/4 turn after the gasket engages is sufficient for oil filters. I had a mechanic at a Hyundai dealer ship use a wrench to put a filter on my Santa Fe once, I could not get it off, had to take it back to the dealer to get it removed, after I had a few words with the service manager. Not saying you cannot use one, just wondering why you are, and of course I know that just using a wrench to install does not mean you are cranking it down jam up and jelly tight, one can do a quarter turn after contact using a wrench also.
  10. I cannot offer any first hand knowledge on this, but if you are not already a member here, http://gl1800riders.com/forums/index.php, it would be a great place to start asking questions.
  11. That is BMW's answer to Honda's F6B. http://powersports.honda.com/cruiser/2016/gold-wing-f6b/colors.aspx#kc32D4ZLjwkhktAW.97 http://www.youmotorcycle.com/honda-gold-wing-f6b-review.html
  12. No high powered forward pointing laser to vaporize stupid cagers. No gear indicator, I am old and sometimes I forget what gear I am in , I am glad the Goldwing will start from a dead stop in 4th gear with out a lot of complaining. No passenger volume control on the Goldwing.
  13. If the noise associated with the high power lines is always in the same location relative to the power line, it may be a bad insulator on the power line it self, that will cause arcing and create a phenomenon called Partial Discharge that results in a radio wave like signal being created, the CB may be picking that up. Back in the day when I worked the power line crew at the mines, we would drive around with the radio on AM sweep the tuner up and down while and listen for static at each power pole, that would tell us if we had a busted insulator on the pole top. Later in my career while doing development work on a high voltage underwater connector that needed to be Partial Discharge (PD) quiet and not having the sophisticated equipment needed to properly test for PD, I used the old linesman's trick with my portable AM radio I kept in the shop and was able to get the unit PD quiet so we could get it to a test lab for a proper test, the PHD at the test lab was amazed how well it did and even more so when I told him what I used to detect the PD in my shop. Long story short, it may not be a problem with your CB at all.
  14. Sounds like two possible separate problems. Hearing a click and then having it start on second try of the starter button is either a battery getting weak from old age or the battery cable connections need attention, they could be loose or they could be dirty. How old is the battery? Have you pulled the seat and checked the connections at the battery? Make sure they are not corroded, if they are take them lose and clean them up, reattach them and tighten them well. I always lay coat of grease on mine to keep moisture away and slow down the corrosion process. Does not start with kick stand down is probably an adjustment issue on the kickstand interlock switch, bad or broken switch or a wire loose or off at the switch.
  15. So one thing to think about, is that if you have factory wiring, the switch for the fog lights actually carries the current that the lights draw. One thing to think about doing is to add a relay to the circuit so the switch is only seeing the current required to hold the relay coil in and the relay contacts are taking the current to power the fog lights. I recently re-wired my 2013 driving light system to remove the jumper that had kept the driving lights on all the time, this mod allows me to turn the driving lights on or off regardless of the high beams being on or off. When I did that I added a relay for the driving lights. I have a wiring diagram of how mine is currently wired if you would like a copy I can send it to you, just send me a PM with your email address.
  16. Check the display on the audio control head to see if it shows "HS" that means someone toggled it to the headset position and not the speaker position. If it is on "HS", turn the volume down before you toggle it back to speakers or you will be buying new speakers.
  17. I am pulling front desk duty at the office all day Saturday, so I out.
  18. Go here; http://www.shop.shinhopples.com/main.sc and search for ShinGrips That is what I using on my wing, very similar to the old Grip Puppies that I had on my Venture, but cannot find anywhere these days. You could Google Grip Puppies to see if anyone has them, I always bought from California Sport Touring, but at last check they were out of business.
  19. So I have desk duty at the office on Friday, so Friday is out for me, right now Sat and Sun are open, but need to know what the plan is. Tom is your trip still on now that the storm is past? Oh, forget about riding A1A , most of it closed due to storm damage.
  20. I saw that also, I like it.
  21. Or Bourbon:cool10:
  22. Finally got power restored last night at 8PM, life is good.
  23. I like the idea, yes a general forum for OFF MOTORCYLE TOPICS and subdivided into functional areas as you suggested , cars, tucks, computers, appliances, tools and whatever. It could make searching for a specific topic easier.
  24. The power is being turned on little by little, the power company has folks , many from as far a way as PA, working 24 hours a day. I just got my power turned back on about an hour ago after being off since Friday.
  25. Most of the storm has passed us, now we are getting the backside winds, still pretty high gusts from time to time. Got some limbs down with one laying on the roof and gutter. Tuff Tom should be in the clear , hope he faired well.
