  2. You said you notice it most in a 5th gear roll on, what speeds are you at when you start the roll on and how hard are you getting on it? The Royal Star models are geared so high in 5th that getting on the throttle hard, say to pull out and pass at 55 MPH in 5th will often cause them to vibrate and not accelerate like you would expect if you just came off a big twin bike or a Goldwing. In 5th gear even a mild roll on from low speeds will result in some vibration with out really lugging the motor down. When I had my 98 Tour Classic and my 07 Venture, and I wanted to pull out and pass on a two lane, I would always drop to 4th and maybe 3rd before I pulled out into the other lane. Otherwise if accelerating while in 5th it required a gentle hand on the throttle and a slow easy twist back on the grip.

After being retired for less than a year , an old friend called asking me if I could help him out for a while as he searched for a new employee, well that was 6 weeks ago and he has had no luck finding a viable candidate.   4. I just took my first order for an auxiliary jumper for a 1998 Harley Road King, we will see where this goes. Fingers crossed, seems like I have saturated the Yamaha market, because sales have been almost zero the past several months. I am waiting for the post office to quit messing around with my first shipment of a Transcontinental trailer harness. it was sent to Eaton, Ohio, but managed to arrive in Amarillo, TX this past Monday, now it is on the way to the next stop, wherever that may be. Hopefully I will get a good report and maybe those will pick up some of the slack. Thanks to all of my previous customers, I really appreciate the opportunity to help out the community.

If the pieces you have are large enough to sand and you have a sander with a dust collector, clean the dust collector bag to remove dust you do not want and then sand the parts and use the dust in the collection bag. Not sure what exactly you are fixing, but you can also try Super Glue gel and then sprinkle the glue joint with baking soda, is makes the gel set up almost instantly and is super hard and strong. Experiment with the super glue and baking soda first to get the hang of it.
  6. Jeff, This may have been discussed in your first thread on the subject last year, but here is another solution, probably not cheap from the looks of it, but not much digging through concrete. A fiend of mine that was the director of a large industrial laundry facility here in Florida hade to have this done at the laundry, no way they could move all the machines to dig out the pipe, so they lined it like the video, he said it worked great and his lost time was minimal.

  9. Freebird as you saw last MD I am still pulling my Bushtec Roadstar behind my Goldwing, no it is not the best match, but for the price of an aesthetically matching trailer, I will keep my paid for Roadstar, especially not that I have replaced those plastic bushings in the sway bars.
  10. I thought retirement was going to be relaxing. Last year when I got back from Freebird's MD, my old job called me back to fill in for one guy that went on vacation and help train the guy that took my position. Then the wife hade me painting and cleaning everything around the house that was not moving or breathing, a friend a few blocks away asked me to build her a bar for here pool area and just last week a business owner I have known for about 20 years asked me to come and help him out because he had to fire his final assembly person and has product that needs to be completed and delivered, so I am going back to work for a while starting Monday. Someday I will get to retire and travel a bit.
  11. I have gotten many funny looks from bar tenders over the years when I ask, "What do you have for Bourbon?" and when I am offered JD, I am as polite as I can be when I tell them JD is not a Bourbon, many just do not get it. Does that make me a Bourbon snob?

Well I have settled in to retirement pretty well, first three months just about killed me, had marching orders from the boss (SWSBO) that anything that was not moving or breathing needed to be cleaned and then painted, lucky for me the house was painted just a few years ago, but everything else got a fresh coat. Also repaired a fence that a hurricane got, trimmed trees and did yard work in general. As for me I am liking it, I have been busy the last several weeks building a bar for a friend, need to find another project soon or the boss will want me to clean the garage again.

So I have been drinking Woodford Reserve almost exclusively for the past 10 or so years, sometimes the regular Reserve and sometimes Double Oaked, have dabbled a bit with other brands when Woodford was not available, but always returned to Woodford. Yesterday I picked up an after Christmas present for myself and decided to try the relatively new Woodford Rye, I like it quite a bit, wanted to know if other steadfast Bourbon drinkers have tried it and what they think.   18. Not wanting to hijack the OP's thread, but have you tried using that red tacky spray on the back of the pads and the front anti vibration shims? That normally gets rid of most brake related noise, always worked for me on my 98 Royal Star and my 07 Venture.

  22. If you want to tap in to that circuit without cutting any wires, I sell a breakout jumper harness that plugs in between the bike harness and the back of the aux outlet. They go for $10.00 including shipping to the lower 48 states.
  23. Yes it would, but there is no water pump "assembly" for the Royal Stars. It is not like on a car where you unbolt the water pump assembly and bolt in a new assembly. On the Royal Stars you remove the housing that contains the water pump and remove all the seals, bearings, gears and shafts, replace what ever needs replacing. The seals are always replaced because they are typically destroyed during the removal process, but they are tricky to install with out damaging them and as I recall they are direction specific, they must be installed in the correct orientation or they will not work properly, there is an oil seal on one side and a water seal on the other. If you are getting oil, water or a milky mixture coming out of the drain tube in the bottom of the water pump housing then one or both of the seals or the shaft that goes through them is bad. There are other places where the oil and coolant can be exchanged, but the water pump is the most common failure that allows the two to mix.
  24. If you are getting oil thru the water pump over flow tube the most likely candidate is the seal on the driven shaft that runs the water pump. I know you said you replaced it already, but the seals are easily damaged during the install process, so you may have the same problem again. I would start there.
