  1. There was a place you could download it a number of years ago, but the link I have is no longer valid. You can pay to download or pay for a printed copy directly from Yamaha via their website. I have a PDF copy I tried to attach it to this post but it would not work, maybe the file is to large. PM me with you email address and I can try to attach it to an email.
  2. We just booked in the Red Roof also.
  3. There is 2000 Millenial for sale over on the Delphi forums if anyone is looking. http://forums.delphiforums.com/vrider/messages/17051/1 I am not connected with the seller in any way, just passing the info along.
  4. Oil fumes are supposed to get sucked up to the airbox with the idea that they will go into the carbs as vapors and be burnt during the combustion process, but during hard running at highway speeds the oil can be "sloshed" around and either more fumes than the system can handle or liquid oil can get sucked up to the air box. The excess fumes will eventually condense back to liquid and run to the low point in the air box where the hose is, and any liquid sucked up will immediately drop to the bottom f the air box and find its way to the drain tube. Checking the air box periodically for liquid oil is a PM sort of thing, I would do mine maybe once a year or so, there was always some liquid oil present and I never over filled my crankcase. If there is an excessive amount of oil then there may be a real problem some where, otherwise I would clean it and motor on and check it at some regular interval to monitor the build up.
  5. The link provided in the first post in this thread takes you to Speed Bleeder's website, here is a link to the Motorcycle specific ones, scroll down to Yamaha and find your bike. http://speedbleeder.com/Motorcycle%20Sizes.htm If you have a Royal Star Venture it says front ones use a 7mm x 1.00 and the rear and the clutch uses 8mm x 1.25, the clutch needs to be a short one. Edit: I just looked at your profile and it shows you have 88 XV1300, the chart says all Yamahas before 2001 use 8mm x 1.25, got confused because this thread is in the 99 to 13 Tech talk section. I will say these are a very good investment, just put them on my Goldwing and they work great.
  6. The brake pads should have anti vibration shims or plates installed make sure they are there, if they are try getting some of that red spray on brake quiet stuff and treat the inside of the shim plates and the back of the pads.
  7. I know exactly what you are saying here, I worked in Saudi Arabia for 4 years in the mid 80's, I had my own car and drove every where, at my own peril, I saw some pretty amazing things, like right turns from a stop light starting in the left most lane of what should have been a 3 lane road, but there were 5 cars abreast at the limit line. One day I saw a Toyota pick up with a load of kids and women sitting in the bed, while the driver had his baby camel on the front seat with him. Truly another world over there.
  8. It is unlikely that anything in the trailer harness would cause the bike not to start, unless the isolator is bad and shorted the power to ground, no telling what bad things that could do to today's sophisticated bikes. A short circuit should have taken out the fuse that protects the isolator, provided one is installed. Had guy here in Central Florida that put a plug and play trailer wiring system from ADD-ON accessories on his Goldwing, had some sort of short in it and it took out the turn signal cancel circuit, which on the Goldwing is a micro-processor and very sensitive, so it is not impossible to get a bad system, but as I stated very unlikely. I have sold hundreds of systems over the years and only had one isolator go bad, and it just failed to work when the buyer installed it. As others have said, check for pinched / damaged wires and unplug everything you installed and trouble shoot from there. keep us posted.
  9. Saw this today at the local post office,
  10. Here are a couple of threads you may want to read. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?131145-RSV-Shock-Absorber-Assembly-Repair https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?132400-RSV-Repaired-Rear-Shock-2000-Mile-Update&highlight=rear+shock
  11. Ultimate seats makes a very good cleaner conditioner for their seats, also vinyl, I use it on my Ultimate on the Goldwing, works great. it is not cheap. here is a link, https://ultimateseats.ca/motorcycle-seat-care
  12. Normally when they fail they leak oil out, check to see if the dust cover at the bottom is wet with oil or if there is any oil trapped inside of it. If evidence of oil most likely it is shot or going bad. There is a fellow member here that rebuilds them, requires you supply a bod one for a core and sends you a rebuilt one for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Do a search here for rear shock and his posts should show up.
  13. Good looking ride, always liked the Camaro, Chevy did a nice job bringing the styling back, the new ones remind me of the 69s. My wife went the other way , got tired of her 06 Solara convertible and got a 2016 Infinity QX50 crossover.
  14. So what I did on my 07 Venture was to put Grip Puppies over my grips, they are foam rubber of some type, made the grips larger in diameter, softer and they are not expensive, just soap up the grip and inside the Grip Puppy and slide them on. Now I am not sure if Grip Puppies are still available, but I needed the same thing for my Goldwing and I used Shingrips. Here is a link to a source for Shingrips, https://www.shop.shinhopples.com/category.sc?categoryId=103
  15. I have used brake cleaner on a lot of jobs where I needed a good degreaser and it always worked, but was careful to control where it went, maybe for a job like this a good electrical contact cleaner that does not leave a residue would work just as well. The idea is to flush out the old crud without introducing new crud. Yes I meant to type powdered, either stupid fingers or stupid spell check I suppose.
  16. Just a guess here, because I am not a locksmith, but maybe a good dose of a cleaner in an aerosol can like Brakekleen , make sure it is safe for plastics, then a good dose of canned air to make sure it is dry and then a liberal application of powered graphite or other approved lubricate for locks.
  17. Jerome, I am not sure I understand what list of products you are referring to.
  18. Funny thing is, after the Canada Post folks told my customer they could not create an incident report one day, when he tried again a few days later, they did create one for him, then the package got moving, could be a coincidence, but I have had the same thing happen here more than once, go in an question the system and suddenly the package is moving again, just glad it made it to the destination.
  19. So the package finally made it to my customer, my faith in the postal system is restored.
  20. Yeah, I am not done yet, but not sure what I do next either, that is why I was hoping some one here was on the inside up there in Canada. I have had good luck here in the US system, with just asking about missing packages and that seemingly magically gets the package moving again, I am still hoping for that on this one.
  21. luvmy40 I get that with regular first class letter, but with the packages I send I have to fill out a customs declaration, that declaration has a number assigned to it and that number in my case LH064329077US can be used to track the package to the customs office on the USPS system and then from customs to delivery using Canada Post, both people in the US PO and Canada Post looked up the number while we were talking and were able to see the tracking, so it is visible to the system, the information provided to the casual user like me, looks the same as any regular tracking number information you get on a domestic package, that is what is confusing and frustrating to me.
  22. Kretz, Thanks for that confirmation of what the gal I spoke to at Canada Post told me, but the idea that no one at either postal service is able to help, even though both acknowledge they can see the available tracking information is so frustrating. I am still hopeful the harness will be delivered.
  23. I am hoping I can get some inside help on a lost package that I mailed to Quebec. The US Post Office says that because I mailed the item first class they cannot start an inquiry on it, Canada Post says , because it did not originate in Canada they can not start an inquiry on it. The item left Mississauga, ON the 23rd of April it had to go 250 or so miles to Gatineau, Quebec and is still "in route". So if there are any Canadian Postal workers on the site that maybe could help, please PM me and maybe we can get the package going again, I know it is a long shot, but that is all I have right now, and I have a customer waiting for a trailer harness to arrive before he leaves on vacation. thanks for any help.
  24. This will get you the carb removal process, https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?7830-Removing-the-Carbs-from-the-RSV
  25. I am not sure if that model Mr. Gasket has an anti syphon valve in it or not, but for my piece of mind I would get in the habit of turning the petcock off, better safe than sorry in my book.
