1st Gen back together and a short road test.
OrlinEngh replied to OrlinEngh's topic in Watering Hole
Still a no go for me next weekend, forecast next weekend for here says rain and snow, Will be glad to see April 1st and no more on call, Got called in yesterday to move a big rock off of the road that came down off of the hill. Not sure what this helper I have is good for he is hard to get ahold of and I cant get him in the new truck to run it says there is to much stuff on it to figure out. -
I got the 1st Gen back together after tearing it down to fix all of the loose and broken parts grease and lube. Had to replace the fairing it was just to far gone to fix, so its got a black fairing and the rest is burgandy and a couple of other colors. But its all tight and road worthy. Cranked it up synced the carbs and took a ride went down the road for about 10 miles and pulled over and checked it over and felt good enough to open it up. Have a spot where I like to try them out nice turn around and a good flat straight away not many of those around here. Took off and run it up threw a few gears looked down and seen a 110 and backed off just have to love these old bikes. Can hardly wait for a good day to just get out for a nice ride and put some miles on it. Orlin

Are you sure its not the meds and now that its getting nicer out you are cutting back on the Rumballs, good to hear that those dizzy spells are going away they are no fun had them when I first started blood pressure meds, couldnt even look down at my feet with out falling over.
-
Jim I have yet to see that pretty 1st Gen is it going to make its way down here.
-
Can you use those Rum balls for topping on icecream or do they melt the ice cream.
-
Rick have to bribe you some how, that and you forgot the Apple pie last year so you have to come anyway and make up for that.

Sharon told me that she has decided to step down as Camp Director this will be her 21st year. I think that it was a tuff choice she has allways loved going up to the camp and spending time with the kids. I think that if some Ventures came pulling in at the Church camp she would get a kick out it and just may have some coffee to drink.

I know its still aways off but I have been thinking of a couple of routes for a ride on Friday and Saturday, Friday is still up in the air yet but I do have some nice roads picked out. Saturday I am still going to plan about the same as last year, Work on bikes in the morning and if we are done with the bikes, we will head to the Blue Goose for pizza and icecream and then get in a nice ride and back here for burgers and brats and I have this hind quarter of venison that needs to be cooked. Then it will be to the bonefire to set relax. And I know that there maybe some that would like to just set and relax and not get in a ride, we dont want anyone to feel they need to go. Make your self to home and relax if thats what you would like to do. We do not get in any hurry on our rides we like to go and see the area and have a fun enjoyable ride. Sure hope that everyone that has been coming can make it again this year and sure would be great to see some new faces. Sharon will be at Church camp untill Friday so if you come on Thursday you will be with out Sharons coffee Friday morning. I will be happy to make some but not being a coffee drinker I am sure it wont be like hers. Orlin

Congatulations!!

Locust , Wallnut and Butternut have alot of oils in the wood that will really make a sliver get kind of nasy quick. I was putting in Pig Hickory and have gotten slivers off of that many times and nothing like what I got from this one. Most of the swelling has gone down and can move the finger good, Finger looked like it could explode it swelled up so much. Now I can get back to putting the 1st Gen together so we can get out for a ride next week 50s in the forecast, And the ones up in Canada need to keep that darn door closed and the Fool needs to put his Snollett machine away and get busy getting his bike ready to go.
-
Have alot of slivers, but never got infected like this one. Didnt know that your finger could get the big with out poping. And there is a pair of leather gloves by the stove now. Never have been much for having gloves on unless its cold out.

I was putting wood in the stove Wednesday evening grabed a chunk to put in the stove and it sliped and ouch that smarted and looked at it didnt see anything and it started bleeding so I put a band aid on it and went to bed. Got up Thursday morning and noticed that my finger was alittle swollen so I cleaned it up and it felt alittle better untill that evening and then it started to throb:( told Sharon there must be something in there yet. cleaned it up again tryed squeezing it and some of that yellow looking stuff came out but still couldnt see anything. I got up Friday morning and my finger has this big bump where the hole is at I give it a squeeze and it ozzes more of that yellow stuff and I can see the head of the sliver:D so I get ahold of it and pull it out and its about a 1/2 inch long no wonder why it hurt:think: finger feels much better can move it better:D. Saturday still alittle swollen but not bad, then I get up this morning and it feels like it going to pop again and has this big lump on my finger and I cant bend it so its off to Urgent care to see a doc:(. She comes in and says oh my looks like you have a infection there. I told her that I got the sliver out, she says well need to get some stuff out of it for a sample so she would know what kind of pills to give me so she gives it a squeeze and says does that hurt much:yikes: and says well I think that there isnt anything left of the sliver in there. Writes me out a slip so I can get my pills and then asks me if I do alot of work with my hands. I said yep they are all I have to work with. And she says well you havent treated them very well they look really ruff. And that I need to take better care of them. So I head out with my slip to get my pills and these things look like something I would give my horses. Hope they work. Orlin .

Don, I see nothing wrong in the way you feel, Delete the ad or post if its not in the place where it should be, if you can read you should know where to place it plain and simple. I have had emailed and asked where was the best place for a couple of things because I was new and wasnt sure. There must be alot of work and time that goes into this site and we shouldnt make it harder for you than what it has to be. I think that this is a great site with alot of great people and would hate to see it just up and go away because of a few that dont take the time to do things the correct way. Thanks for all of the work that you do for all of us. Orlin

How did you get Hooked - Picture of your first motorcycle?
OrlinEngh replied to VanRiver's topic in Watering Hole
This was my first street bike CB 750, It started long before then for me, it all started with me and my friend at his Dads scrap yard that was just down the road from me. A bike came in there with a motor on it, well we had to get that going we found a motor that would run and we put it on there and I was hooked to riding something with a motor on it. My first new one was a Honda CT 70 and next was a Suzuki 75 that got me into my first Mottocross race since then there have been alot of bikes. -
I would like to see a pick of one those Snolettes you have there to see if they compare to the ones we get here that must be the over spray from Fools machine before I would take a truck load. I am sure that I have seen them here the temps have to right and they are the ones that when I am trying to plow the roads that are coverd with them and they make these big drifts and you hit them with the plow they go all over the windshield and up in to the defrost and blow all over the dash and fog up the windshield as they melt away. It has to be very cold for this to happen, as it doesnt happen with this white stuff that falls on the ground when its above 0 degrees out side. Those other ones just seem to blow out the of the plow and not all over the place and try to end up back on the road again in these big drifts. So now to get rid of these Snolettes we have to talk this guy saddlebum to shutting those doors the Fool to shut his machine down, Now I know this will cut into your icecream money but it does look like you have enough to sell for awhile yet.
-
I think I got this figured out, took me awhile but its all starting to add up now. Fool keeps telling me that he is not the one to blame for that cold air out of Canada that its those ones that keep leaving the door open up there but he wont give out any names. Now lets see they open the door Fool gets busy pushing buttons and pulling levers, and then there is this half naked guy out there selling these Snolettes by the pickup load. Now if this is the case these are not real Snolettes they are man made and not from the factory that does make these Snolettes. I think that there needs to be a end of this scam and as a form of punishment all the money that these scamers have made needs to be put into a icecream fund. This has to be done soon because once it warms up and the Snolettes melt and they will have gotten away with this.

might have to take a little time off here for a while
OrlinEngh replied to oldgoat's topic in Watering Hole
Sure hope that things turn around for you, Need to get after those guys in Canada that keep leaving some door open and letting all of that cold air come down this way, And Fool to put that snow making thing away and bring on spring so that heating bill will be done with for awhile. Hopefully you wont have to take much time off from here or make to many trips to the Library. Orlin -
So its true that darn thing does suck that cold air down here. Its time for you to go and work on that Venture of yours and put the magical machine away.

87 Venture Royale front wobble
OrlinEngh replied to Gearhead's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I had a 84 and a 92 that did the same thing and both were the steering head bearings were to tight. -
The clicking you hear maybe the fule pump, thats normal when you first turn the key on or when you put the kill switch to run, I had to replace my battery last summer left on a ride and when we stopped it wouldnt crank over. Head light still worked just not enough power to crank the engine. Check your battery connections to could be loose have had that happen before.
