On my way to CA from GA I hit some serious headwind through NM & AZ... I could barely maintain 70 MPH (actual with GPS) with almost full throttle... This was riding solo and pulling my Piggybacker trailer... When I tried to pass big trucks I'g get about at the driver's door and the wind coming off his truck was like hitting a wall and a few times I got stuck there and would have to downshift to 4th and give it full throttle and when I'd finally break through it was like being shot out of a cannon... Never seen wind like that before... That 450 mile stretch I was only getting 20 MPG... I hope I get a tailwind on my way back to FL..

Don't buy the POS Autozone $59.95 LED tailights... I have them and when I get back home I'm returning them... They got like 12 LEDs and 4 extral LEDs light up for the brake and turns and you can't tell during the day... I had to change mine in GA on my way to CA... My old "LIFETIME WARRANTY" LEDs only had 3 LEDs still workin http://shop.easternmarine.com/images/product/6337.jpg Don't waste your money on these.. Spend a few extra bucks and get the ones with dual modes... Like the ones they run on those Large Car Chicken Trucks... You'll find them in Chrome Shops or High End Truckstops..

That sounds like an offer too good to refuse... I've been planning this trip with Microsoft Streets and Trips and have set it to travel from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and after my last station on Thurs it has me stopping in Longview at 8:00 PM Thurs. night.,,, Then Fri. night in El Paso and strolling into San Diego 6:30 Sat. night... If you're serious and it's OK with your wife I'll take you up on your offer... The Co. I'm working for gave me a Motel 6 Welcome Card and these fleabags get old real quick... I usually stay at Choice Hotels and use my 15% Venturers discount and get free nights with reward points.. My trip's not definite yet but I think I can swing it
-
Well I've been thinking it over and talked to the Ol'Lady about it and I think I can swing the CA trip... If I stay on schedule I'll finish up in Atlanta on Thurs morning and I'm going to start on Mon. morning in San Diego... I should be able to do that without breathin hard... I have to return to AL to finish up 17 locations that turned me away and messed up my whole schedule... I'm thinking of running I-20 out to San Diego and when I finish in Frisco I'll take I-40 back to AL... I haven't done all the routing yet but all in all it should be close to 15K miles... Hey Lowell if you're gonna be home maybe I'll stop by and see ya...

That issue has been well discussed on this forum... I'm not sure I would call it a design flaw... I would consider it a design flaw if the brakes were inadequate but that is not the case as it will lock up any rear tire including my Car Tire... It's More like the nature of the beast... George you could have flipped those pads and got twice as many miles as you have now... The caliper piston is on the inside and the caliper does not float like the front calipers so you get the uneven wear...

I'm in the ATM business and I never heard of that hoax or otherwise... I do know if you enter the wrong PIN you get a "Invalid PIN" error..

Sometimes... I coulda rented a cage but I use the bike whenever I can... I gotta come back here to Kissimmee, FL when I finish up in Atlanta and fly to CA and do 90 more... I wish I could ride to CA and do it on my bike but I wouldn't finish the project on time..

Well after 3 weeks of fun & sun in FL I have to get back to work... Over the next 10 days I'll be cruisin the FL panhandle, AL, and GA working on ATMs at 70 Chevron stations... I'll be riding my RSMV and pulling my piggybacker trailer with the MAINEAC plates... So if you happen to see a big fat guy messing with the ATM at the local Chevron station stop by and say hello...

Just look at an early Royal Star and visualize a front fairing... As Greg stated theres alot of crap in those lowers and you'd have to add custom air filters... You got a horn, fuse box, and the Cruise Control and who knows whatelse under them... I thought about changing the air filter and triming the lowers so they aren't so swoopy and maybe adding 6x 9 speakers.. http://www.speedcitycycle.com/images/customcruisers/1996RoyalStar1_lg.jpg http://www.speedcitycycle.com/images/customcruisers/1996RoyalStar2_lg.jpg

I guess I should be pissed cuz there's probably an insult in your post directed at me.. But you hide it in so many layers of absurdity that all I feel is pity for you.. My advice to you is don't waste so much energy on being a hater.. -
Thanks Guys for the well wishes and info... Yeah I'm very familiar with DC traffic... I worked down there last year for about a month... I'm more concerned with getting over the GW Bridge before 3 o'clock... Cuz I don't wanna be sitting in the Bronx... If I can't make before 3 I'll probably skip Jersey all together and go through the Poconos...

The terminology is Hard Drive and Flash Drive... Stay away from the Hard Drives they can develop issues with the vibration of the Bike... I have a 16 Gig Sansa View Flash Drive I got for christmas... I'll be trying her out in Daytona next week... I'll use my GPS on the ride to FL..

All I'm saying is kids will be kids... I don't get my panties in a bunch over it... The girls in the car... I probably would have been checking for any kinda jiggling action... Hey I have all kinds of music (including some rap) on my mp3 player and have been known to play it pretty loud (usually between 25 & 30 on the volume) and probably have irritated a person or 2... Did you know a mp3 player will play louder than the radio before distortion??? But I'm just a 52 yo kid... But the washer trick does bug me...
