  2. I guess I have a different take on this kind of stuff.... I've seen that before... IMHO a real Biker wouldn't be caught dead writing that crap... Written by a Poser for Posers No offence to anyone here... I guess I'm just jaded by riding too long and knowing too many real bikers to buy into this kind of cornball %*#@.
  3. My clutch was slipping on the top end and I replaced the pressure plate and the clutch fiber plates... It was a might as well kinda thing... I figured while I was in there I might as well swap the disks out... Now I have a Barnett clutch that should be good for 75,000+ miles.
  4. Buddy, I think you're thinking about the chrome rotor covers..Bubba is talking about chrome Billet Wheel covers.. Acording to my 2003 Star Accessory Guide the wheel covers do fit the RSV.. BTW I scored a few sets of the rotor covers in the same lot of parts I bought.
  5. I have a pair of the smooth disks that I bought in a pallet load of NOS Yamaha parts at a salvage store sale. I was planning on installing them this winter.
  6. Putting an extended swing arm on a ninja??? Isn't that like putting slicks on a Jeep?

  12. Contrary to Venturerider's beliefs... Venturriders did not "invent" the Generation monniker... I own a 4th Generation El Camino and it's a '85
  13. I'm bringing in mine to the dealer this winter... my warranty runs out in May.. I got an 03... My shock holds air but is leaking fluid.. Maybe you should squirt some hydraulic fluid on it and go for a pretty good ride.. I also am going to get my fuel gauge and cruise control fixed before my warranty runs out... Then I'm gonna pull and plug the AIS and paint the bike flat black.
  14. Looks like a waste of a pretty good 55 Caddy.........
  15. Hey dragracer you should take a look at the stratoliner passing lamps... they have 2 filaments 1 is like a parking lamp... you could use the bottom filament for a turn signal with an amber bulb.. I have the strat lights on my rsv and they're much briter than the RSV lamps.... just an idea

  17. Let Those Who Ride Decide People die everyday on motorcycles.. with and without helmets. Helmet Laws do not work. I don't know if any of you noticed or not how many riders that are forced to wear a helmet are wearing these little plastic beanies with a little foam in them... I own one myself and know it offers next to nothing for protection but wear it in states with stupid helmet laws.. I also have a modular I wear when the weather requires it.. HELMETS ARE SAFER Most of the time.. Yes I would agree.. I know a guy who rides a wheelchair that he controls with his teeth because his helmeted head bounced off the pavement like a basketball and snapped his neck who disagrees. Here's a question for all you Helmet Law advocates.. If helmets are so much safer do you wear them in your car/truck? NO!! Why not? It could save your life some day. It has to be safer... Right .. You mean you buckle up your kids in the back of your Volvo Wagon (insert this year's Consumer Reports safest car here) without a helmet!! What a lousy parent you are that doesn't care about your own children but want to preach to me and pass a law to make sure I wear a helmet. I am against any law that prohibits anyone from wearing a helmet. If you want to wear a helmet by all means do it and I will support your freedom to do so. Please support my freedom.
  18. Nothing personal but I think you're wrong on both counts... It's not that hard to strip the bodywork... How can repainting a fading scratched up 7 year old bike lower the resale value??? Sis go for it .. I've been thinking about painting my 03 Midnight... Make sure you take before and after pictures. Good Luck,
  19. Well I got mine installed and if I get a chance I'll post a pic tomorrow. Thanks, Mark
  20. Yeah Every Yamaha dealer I checked has the TD plates on the RSV page.. I went out to the shed to get the 1st sold plates and looked at my bike and saw the phillips screw hole on the stock black plastic plate didn't match my new chrome ones (I had not installed mine yet) So I paniced and got my tools out to check... I found out it uses one of the 2 plastic grommet holes not the phillips screw hole..and that the Ignition switch for the Tour Deluxe goes in the left plate.. So that was a releif.. Then I checked the picture I posted and spotted the 4th hole on the left plate and the only place with the correct picture was cruisercustomizing.com. These come with directions and the new allen head screws, nuts, and spacer for the grommet holes. I used a 1/4" drive ratchet with a #10 socket for the nut... a couple of allen wrenches not sure what sizes.. and a dab of RTV or silicone on the spacer to hold it in the grommet hole... cuz you have your hands full holding the ratchet with the nut in the socket behind the frame at the spacer and holding the plate in position and lining it all up so you can get the screw started by fingers... The left side has a little more room and I was able to hold the nut in one hand and plate/screw in the other ..get it started and put socket on nut to tighten it. I hope this is understandable.. if not it will be when you see it and the directions are pretty straightforward. The RTV really helps though.
  21. Al you got mail Thanks for the reviews guys.. Cruisercustomizing.com has them for $133 shipped... but their prices are usually high... So. Seattle has them the cheapest but are showing the picture of the Tour Deluxe plates... I don't know if they are showing the wrong picture or if they include a plug for the Ignition switch hole. Has anyone ordered these from So. Seattle? If so did you get the right part?
  22. Yamaha Billet Passenger Floorboard Backing Plates Smooth http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/STR-4NK27-03-01_150.jpg I had to edit this because ALL the Yamaha Dealers show a picture of the Tour Deluxe Plates for the RSV with an extra hole for the Ignition Switch on the left side. The only site with the right picture is Cruiser Customizing. Mine DO NOT have the extra hole and are the Smooth ones only. Near as I can tell these fit all RSVs, Royal Star Standards, and 96/97 RS Tour. If you don't have your ignition switch on the left plate these will fit. Otherwise you'd have to drill a hole for the ignition and would compromise the chrome. (not recommended) Here's the link to CruiserCustomising with reveiws. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_ID=0&Category_ID=6&manufacturer_ID=165&product_ID=3135 I have a bunch of these for sale and will be listing them on eBay for $75-85. I will sell them to members for $65.00 shipped in USA. They are all new and are the smooth model. Some of the packaging/cardboard is a little funky but the plates are not affected. I take Paypal and/or checks, my e-mail is theeddys@fairpoint.net I will consider trades and could use a new kickstand. I also have saddlebag guards for the Royal Star and a couple of Royal Star chrome rotor covers. I'll be away in Durango, Co for a week ... leaving Labor Day thru Sat.
  23. I thought the only Venom 150/80-16 was a REAR tire??? Nevermind I just found it.
  24. Somebody asked me to post a reveiw when I finally upgraded my speakers. sorry I forget who it was... but here it is: My factory speakers quit comepletely the night before I was to leave for Houston... I'm 40 miles from any Circuit City, Best Buy, WalMart... So Fri morning (leaving day).. I head down to Belfast (7 miles) to see what I can score for new speakers.. Cuz I don't want to ride 2000 miles with no tunes. Belfast has Autozone, VIP Autoparts, and a Odd Lot.. Strike out at Odd Lot and VIP.. Thought I struck out at Autozone but spotted a pair of speakers by the door on the Bargain Table... Pyle PLRL42 4" 140 Watt Electroplated Red Cone Two-Way Speakers for $7.00 marked down from $30.00 .. Went home and installed them.. had to ream out a couple of holes cuz the big magnets hit the speedo housing. DO NOT BUY THESE!!!! http://12.41.28.254/pyle/PLRL42.jpg These Pyles worked great... for about 4 days.. 2 days for the ride to Houston and 2 days while I was there.. pulled the fairing apart to check out the speakers and found the little wire that runs frome the speaker cone to the little connector board had a loose connection on the back of the board.. If I messed with the connector tabs I could get it to work.. They shoulda named these Pyles of sh*t... I hooked the wires directly to the cone wires and put it back together.. they worked... most of the time. Fast Forward 5 weeks .. Lancaster, PA visiting the folks.. Pyles not working at all by now.. They quit before I headed north. Tried soldering the back of the connector board... No dice looked online .. found these: http://www.circuitcity.com/IMAGE/product/detail/plk/EC.PLK.DB401.CN.JPG Polk 4" Coaxial Loudspeaker (db401) PLK DB401 • 4” speaker • 2-way design • 135W peak power • Marine certified I paid $80.00 for 2... Circuit City has them for $60.00 now with the 2nd pair for 1/2 price... These speakers sound great and are much better made than the Pyles.. I highly reccommend them.. Now I need to get 2 more for the back.. the magnets are small so I think they'll fit.
