  5. Sam here's what I did... I mounted my relay inside my fairing and I used a switch so I can shut the lights off.. I used a lighted toggle switch I bought at Autozone and mounted it next to the poweroutlet on the fairing.. OK now the wiring: 12/14 gauge fused wire from battery > relay + relay > lights 14/16 GW tapped from marker lamp or headlight > switch + switch > relay Now ground the relay and the switch Basically what you're doing is using the Headlight or Marker light circuit just to power the relay... Not to power the lights itself.. Therefore it doesn't put a strain on your headlight circit and ignition... but the passing lamps will only work with the key on. hope this helps
  6. Hi Rob welcome to the group... I like you am very impressed with the Vision and applaud Victory for thinking outside the box... Then I demoed a Vision at Daytona Bike Week and was very disappointed in the leg room.. I'm 6'3" and legroom to me is important... It's very similar to a Ultra Glide as far as legroom goes.. But I did feel more "in" it compared to sitting "on" a HD. If you're an average sized guy the Vision might be for you.. For me I'll keep my RSV with the comfort and ability to do 25k + miles again this year. Good Luck
  7. I got a 6 fuse box from Napa and mounted it under the seat in front of the battery under all the hoses and wires... I bolted it to the plastic piece under it.
  8. You'll love the Polks... What kind of pipes did you get? the 36" straight fishtails?
  9. Yes the back up fuse is to retain memory... but the radio won't work if the fuse is blown.
  10. How about the new "Cross Bones" Harley??? It's a softtail with a spring front end, ape hangers, and bobbed fenders... It has single piston single disk up front and a two piston single disk in back... Don't make sense does it?
  11. Origins: The fatal accident depicted above took place on U.S. 169 near Tulsa, Oklahoma, during the early morning hours of 17 April 2007. The motorcyclist, 26-year-old Brandon Lee White of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was traveling at an estimated 120+ mph when his motorcycle struck the back of a tractor-trailer rig. According to the Tulsa World: Police said the truck driver reported hearing a bump and then seeing debris from the motorcycle going past him. When he managed to pull over, he saw that a man was embedded in the back of his trailer. White was dead at the scene. http://www.snopes.com/photos/accident/tulsacrash.asp Maybe you should rename the thread "DON'T RIDE 120 MPH INTO A TRUCK"
  12. Everybody talks about Road King pipes but almost any Harley Bagger slip on style pipes will fit our RSVs and TDs... I'm using aftermarket Harley Fishtail pipes on mine.
  13. OK Honey tell Animal to ride up here to Maine and call me when he finds one so I can go take the picture for him.
  14. My Buddy has a Mini-Beast which is a Stebel with a chrome cover over it and is advertised as 128db and it's noticebly not as loud as my 139db Stebel. http://www.bikerlawblog.com/media/blogs/wind/beast2.gif http://www.bikerhiway.com/images/large/propad/pmh-02_LRG.jpg
  15. I won't do the smaller sized front tire again... I think the slow speed handling thing is overrated.. It does handle a little better at slow speed I won't deny that.. but the high speed handling suffers a bit... In curves I find myself making more corrections to try to hold a line.. It seems to wander a little more and doesn't handle road imperfections as well... So the jury's still out on Avons... I also had some wet road issues with the rear tire locking up just touching the rear brake... My Dunlop 404s never locked up that easy. I know I'm like the lone voice in the woods but the Avons just haven't won me over yet.. I'll know better when I see what kind of mileage I get out of them... There are probably other riders out there not sold on Avons but we're in the minority.
  16. Polk Audio db401 4" 2-way car speakers Certified for marine use Item #107DB401 IN STOCK http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=228350&i=107DB401&tp=3384 These are what I used.. I bought mine at Circuit City and if you buy 2 pairs the 2nd pair is 1/2 price... These speakers are a BIG Improvement over stock speakers and the Pyles {Autozone Cheapos) I had that lasted about 2 weeks. Go for it these speakers ROCK... Literaly I have only installed them in the front, but I read where someone installed them in the rear and they fit... I gotta get another set for the rear.. The magnets are similar to stock size.. I guess the rear is a tight fit... That's my next project. Good Luck
  17. Yes as stated above the instruments and radio have a fuse in the left side battery cover fuse box.... It's labeled "back up" ... I think it's the fuse closest to the front... To remove the battery cover unscrew the allen head bolt closest to the rear... the front screw is just for show (don't ask me why} then pull the cover out straight to you while you're beside the bike... there's a pin in there with a rubber grommet .
  18. I e-mailed the seller asking if they were Yamaha rails and if not who made them...Still waiting to hear back.

    Seat removal

Here's another tip for you... Install the 2 wire plug on your battery and leave the plug hanging out on the right side and you can plug your battery tender in without removing the seat in the future.
