Hey Nice Rig Al... i would need a Hoppe Quadzilla fairing and I'd be all set with that. Is that one of those Mutazu Trunks.. Looks like it.. I was thinking of getting the lighted spoiler off that thing for my RSV... I think it would fit and they sell them for $35 painted black. http://mutazu.com/images/dmy%20trunk/led%20spoiler/LED%20spoiler.JPG

Good Deal! Rick's got a little banner over there that says 15 - 20% Off Retail Most Items.. . I'd copy & Paste the banner but somebody would probably get mad.. I'm always looking for the best deal and pass on the info when I can. -

Hey Qdude if you're a Venturer you get a 15 - 20% Discount at Buckeye Performance you get 10% for being a VentureRider. I might need a stator myself and if I do I'll be getting the beefed up Buckeye unit. -

Yo gunboat relax man... I was explaining why I can't make the event and probably why the numbers are down.. M-TH is probably fine for retired members but probably kind of tough for the working crowd.. I thought I might ride over for a weekend or something then I checked the dates and was a little surprised at the M-Th format... I had assumed a weekend would be involved.. I know ASS U ME .. I guess there is a 1st for everything but I really have never seen a M-Th bike event that's all no offense intended. If I had seen the thread on the vote on what days to stage the event I would have made my made my thoughts known then... I guess I missed the vote. hope you have a nice time -

I'm on the East Coast... probably the most eastern member here (in USA) .. My vacation time is spoken for... Who's idea was it to schedule a motorcycle event Monday - Thursday... Don't think I ever seen that before. .. Good Luck with your event. -
Sorry to hear about the accident.. Are you sure Hazen isn't going to see this and ruin the surprize... I bought my bike damaged and I replaced almost all my parts on ebay.. Mine was all cosmetic and I could wait for good deals to come along and I made some pretty good scores. I bought Gas tank, fairing, front fairing, and some smaller pieces.. i bent the crash bars back and sanded and repainted scratched pieces... It's a work in progress and I'm still fixing stuff 3 years later. Nuts bolts and fastners as well as all parts can all be bought from a dealer and you can figure out what parts you need by using a "parts fiche" on a dealer's website... btw the parts fiche is a good way to figure out what's a good price... as a general rule a used part in good condition is worth about 1/2 of a new part costs... there are exceptions for parts that are like new. Her's the dealer I use and they have the best prices. http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/ Good Luck and feel free to PM me if security becomes an issue

There's another backrest out there that's a little smaller than the other 2... It's also more expensive. http://www.1cruiser.com/cartimages/m/50588.JPG http://www.1cruiser.com/sa/p/Bakup_Driver_s_Backrest_Yamaha_for_Royal_Star_Venture.htm

I'm having charging issues with my RSV.. 2 weeks out of warranty... at a store My battery wouldn't start the other night so I rolled started in 2nd... Then my radio went out then the low beam.. I hooked up the battery tender and the low beam was still out but the radio was on... I smacked the headlight with the side of my fist and it came on.. Not sure what's going on but one of my passing lamps used to do that too.

Frog Man, I could be wrong but I don't think you're supposed to trickle (2Amp) charge a new battery.. Is the smart charger like a battery tender? If so that might be your problem.. Tenders are just that.. not chargers.. Don't throw it out yet.. It might work once your new battery gets fully charged. I have the Craftsman version of the Battery Tender and it workd great.

Bridgestones - DO NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE.. It is universally known as a bad tire.. Cupping, noisey, slippery when wet, etc. I have only heard of 1 rider that had anything good to say about Bridgestones.. If anyone disagrees please post here. Metzelers - I won't run Metzelers on my RSV... Too many horror stories of ply separation and throwing chunks.. Some dismiss the stories as underinflated overloaded bikes but I ain't taking any chances. Dunlop 404s.. I've done over 50,000 miles on these without any issues and love them and are a bigtime improvement over your Bridgestones and it will feel like a new bike if you decide to upgrade to them.. The D404s are not a high mileage tire but I ride my RSV pretty hard and prefer stickyness over high mileage.. They're cheaper than any other major brand and some other riders will dismiss them as a "cheap" "OEM" tire but they work for me.. When I'm going hot into a curve they're alot steadier than the Avons I have now and require less adjustments. I have Avons on now with the smaller front tire and don't think they handle as well as the 404s especially on wet roads. As soon as these Avons wear out I'll be going back to the D404s probably the WWW. Don't go by just me... Do some homework.. use the Search feature here and check other sites and see what other riders prefer. Good luck

Don are you saying you don't see any "real world" gains in a K&N upgrade on a RSV? Because I was thinking of doing this myself.

You should have let it go after your 1st post.. This Man is really customizing.. Not bolting on goodies he found in some catalog .. He's thinking outside the box and working the bugs out seeking advice from fellow VRs. You calling it "useless glitter" and comparing it to a "worthless piece of glass" is rude, ignorant, and crass in my opinion. I would like to say more ...GGGGRRRR Do yourself a favor.. Next time you think stuff like that about somebody's bike or their work on their bike.. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF

I'm with you Geezer.. I prefer stretching out with my feet out in front of me.. I've done 1000 mile days, 2000 in 2 days, and 1500 in 30 hours an unofficial Bun Burner... I didn't do the paperwork... I gave up log books when I quit truckin. I usuall run between 5 & 15 mph over the speed limit depending on location, traffic, etc. and I know a GW can blow my doors off anytime they want.. But I really don't recall 1 ever passing me and I've run my RSV in about 20 states. I have heard there are some passengers prefer the RSV's back seat.

I never use my heel shifter... I'd have to reach back too far to stomp it.. Would like to have the toe only shifter but I'm to cheap to spend 100+ bucks for it... I don't worry about skuffing my boots since I left the Marine Corps. I'll probably hack the heel part off... I've been hoping someone bought a RSV with the toe shifter and wants to trade for a heel/toe..

Good job Tom!! When mine blew it still held air but all the fluid drained. Mine went so slowly that I didn't really notice the ride going bad.. That is until I had the new one installed... WOW what a difference.

Exactly your making my point... I was pointing out the irony of buying a wing because it's fast... Kinda like buying a Ducati cuz it's comfortable. I wasn't trying to stir any pot and didn't even realize you started this thread until I reread it to figure out why you got wound up by my 1st post.. I thought your last post was kinda childish so I tried to expose that. I get it... You're having trouble with the RS.. go get a wing I would never knock that... Just don't try to discredit my opinion or post by saying you're a bigger bike fanatic than me cuz you have 4 or 5 bikes.. I'm as obsessed as the next guy. Good luck with your decision.

Boy I didn't mean to offend the self proclaimed biggest bike fanatic on this forum... my point was everytime I hear someone spout off about a GW is how fast and powerful it is.. But yet I have never been passed by a GW.. Not that I ever race anyone.. I don't.. I'm sure your friend wingman is a real terror on the twisties in Georgia and would go faster than any RSV rider in the world...yada yada yada.. I'll skip the pissing contest. I'll say it again...Hey to each his own and I'm not gonna knock another man's ride..

Obviously you are missing something... It's a thing some of us call customizing Definition of customize (verb) forms: customized; customized; customizing to make or to fit according to individual needs or desires; to personalize; to individualize PGunn... Nice Job!! Good luck with the jetting and keep us posted on your progress... I applaud your ingenuity and have thought about a similar modification myself and am very interested in how yours comes out. Don't let any naysayers get to you.. Some of us are very interested in your project. Thanks,

I used to have an "old" Wing and it was a good bike that I picked up for 1200 bucks and it served me well while my kids were growing up and I couldn't afford a newer bike. But I don't get this Love Fest with the GW on a RSV forum... I know they're faster.. then why is it every Wing I see on the road is riding like Gramma Moses.. More Comfortable?? Not for me... The Ol'Lady maybe.. But I'm the one doing 30K miles a year.. she does maybe 5K. Hey to each his own and I'm not gonna knock another man's ride.. But it sounds like some of you guys are trying to convince yourselves that a Wing is better... Cuz if you're trying to convince me you're wasting your breath.

I have Avons on my RSV and do not like the wet road handling of them and almost dumped in FL on a wet road just touching the rear brake.. It didn't just lock up in a controllable skid... It locked up and started sliding sideways. As soon as these Avons are worn out I'll be going back to Dunlop 404s... They might not give the mileage of the Avons but they handle better and stick better.
