They are at my house and no I don't have pics... they have never been on a bike but i did remove the original packaging.. They might have a few scratches by kicking around for so long... They are new old stock... i think original MSRP is probably around $600 for the whole works but i bought it right and would sell them for $350 + shipping... Here's what I got... http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/STR-4NK15-10-00_200.jpg http://www.chromeworld.com/_Images%5CBlobs%5CNormal%5CSC0132.jpg http://www.chromeworld.com/_Images%5CBlobs%5Ck7390.jpg

I have a pair that I'm not installing (I've been stripping down my RSV not dressing up) along with the caliber covers and the ring of fire... They are NOS and a discontinued item... Note: The caliper covers are made for a Royal Star... not the Venture but I'm told they can work on the Venture... something about elongating one of the holes... The ring of fire is made for a Gold Wing but with some creative doublesided taping can be made to work... Let me know if you're interested and maybe we can work something out..

FYI... MEK is the PVC pipe cleaner... It's also in the pipe glue..

These are similar to my passing lamps.. scored them on ebay for like 50 bucks... They are NOT sealed beams tho.. they use a H-3 bulb.. http://www.cars-bikes.eu/contents/media/2131-1.jpg http://www.adjureinc.com/enlarge.html?http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-38432223971026_2151_5306085http://www.adjureinc.com/enlarge.html?http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-38432223971026_2151_5306085

3 rules about driving lights... 1. Relay 2. Relay 3. Relay.. Hooking them up directly to your headlight circuit causes a potential overload to your circuit and increases your chances of blowing a fuse and may take away power to your headlight.. I know some have it wired directly and have no problems... by why risk it? Also I recommend you power the relay with a keyed power source other than your headlight like your radio,,, so if you do blow a headlight fuse you still have your driving lights to get to a safe lighted place to change out the fuse.. Also hook up a switch to the lights.. If you ever get into a weak batter or charging system problem like most of us with any kind of mileage have.. It is good to be able to shut them off or if you're riding behind someone that you don't want to blind.. The Law: I think the hi beam driving/fog light must be off is a law in most states and probably all.. But has anybody ever heard of someone getting a ticket for this?? I doubt 1/2 the cops know this law or really care in the real world.. That being said... I have noticed on my bike.. I run a Silverstar Ultra headlight and 55W H-3 passing lamps which all are very bright.. That when I run my Hi beams and passing lamps together I don't see down the road where my hi beams are shining as well as when my passing lamps are off... The brightness of my passing lamps does take away from long range vision.. Type of passing lamp.. I think the Yamaha RSV sealed beam passing lamps suck.. I've owned flashlights with more candlepower than these... usually have to reach around the fairing and stick your hand in front of one to see if they're on at night.. waste of money IMHO.. I got passing lamps for a V-star or Road stars that use a H-3 bulbs.. Now if you don't have a higher output stator you probably want to stick with the 35W bulbs cuz the 55W ones will tax your charging system.. Well I guess I beat this thing to death.. that's all I got..

Condor did you have them clearcoated to preserve the shine... if not how long did the shine last??

Bob you're missing the M on your link to LY Cycles... FYI

Mine ate a Bad Company tape back in 05 when i bought it... I think it's still in there... LOL

I could be wrong but I think a 402 is a 404 with Harley Davidson printed on the sidewall..

I'm just gonna throw my take on this thing... I spent the extra money on the Barnett Pressure Plate upgrade because i see it as a "true upgrade" while I look at the PCW upgrade as more of a fix... let me try to explain .. PCW from everything I've heard from people on this forum is a fine product and their customer service seems to be excellent.. from what I've heard and I am not knocking their product in any way.. And their diaphragm spring replacement seems to fix the OEM Yamaha weak clutch spring problem and is probably the spring Yamaha should have made in the first place and we would probably not be having this discussion now because our original clutches would not be slipping for 10s of thousands of miles instead of 10 to 40K like most of us... I detected slipping when i bought my RSV with 10K on it... Maybe it was due to rider abuse by the original owner... who knows.. Now the Barnett replaces the whole pressure plate and diaphragm type spring with an automotive type plate with 6 coil springs.. no need to add a 1/2 plate or remove a plate or whatever else is required with the other upgrade... Just bolt it in and you have a positive clucth that locks up without any slippage and probably (I really don't know this as a fact) wears more evenly because of the design... AGAIN this is my thought process not actually fact... Time will tell which way to go was better when our upgraded clutch's start failing.. I got close to 80K on mine without a hint of slipping and yes I pull a trailer and probably have 35K on that.. So yes i spent the extra money for a Barnett and yes Goose I know you think it's a waste of money... I got the memo a few years ago with your comments back then when i was looking to upgrade... I've removed perfectly good factory clutches before to "Upgrade" with Barnett clutches back in the day because i wanted better than factory performance,,, So when my RSV clutch was slipping and I found out Barnett made a replacement pressure plate that would cure the slipping it was a no-brainer for me...

Not trying to knock skydoc at all but is it the same PCW spring??? Maybe he could clear this up because I saw in another post that he was using EBC springs... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=47367

"The slammer has air ride adjustable suspension all the way around that gives it the capability to be lowered to 2.25" from its 6" ride height, plus a navigation and media system packed with 500 watts!" I'd like to take it for a ride... http://blog.fattyscycle.com/2011/02/19/hondas-slammer-project-i-wish-they-would-go-forward-with-this.aspx

Darrin you done good man... You've come a long way from that weinie wing... I just saw your build post here today... I don't get on here as much as I used to.. I almost bought a RS like yours back in 05 but it was turquoise and white.. The Harley Stealer was asking $6500 and I offered 6 cash they came back with $6450... I walked out figuring they would chase me out to the parking lot but it never happened and I never went back.. I ended up buying an 03 RSV with 10K miles on ebay and have put another 111K on it.. You've done more work in 1 off season than some guys that have owned a bike for years... keep up the good work... PS I sent you a friend request... Would like to meet you sometime..

They don't have it listed on their website... But maybe Yamaha won't allow it to be listed that cheap... But that dealership has been in business for years... I'd call them directly and find out the scoop... If it's for real it's a good deal,,, http://www.abernathycycles.com/

Yeah Al I saw some negative stuff on here about the Barnett too but it was mostly about the price.. But I installed my first Barnett in my 650 BSA in 1975 and yeah the the old cable clutch pulled quite a bit harder... But back then I had more balls than brains and was happy doing light to light wheelies after the upgrade.. I don't think the clutch lever pull is that much more than stock (On a Royal Star) but it is noticeable in a side by side comparison... IMHO the dependability of a quality product outweighs a little extra lever pull..

I really like what Honda did with this prototype.. Just wondering why they didn't use the 1800 VTX platform.. Although they are so close in size maybe they'll do both.. http://motorcyclemodificationz.com/gallery/motorcycle/honda-slammer-concept-motorcyclemodificationz-001.jpg http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/321/8913/Motorcycle-Article/Honda-Custom-Slammer--Switchblade--Furious.aspx

Rick you won't be sorry with the Barnett.. They've been making quality clutch parts for 62 years for all kinds of bikes.. I love mine and it's never given me any trouble in over 70,000 miles... That's about twice the life of the stock clutch when it started slipping.. Good Luck

Tires - It's 'weighing' on my mind...
MAINEAC replied to lshafer's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Whatever you get will be an improvement over the Bridgestones (I loved them on my big truck)... If it's any consolation the older Boss Hoss' run the same front tire as our RSVs and with a 350 Chevy engine they are pretty heavy... I thought one of the manufacturers made a reinforced front tire with a higher load rating... Maybe it's a rear tire I'm thinking of.. I don't have load rating concerns anymore... I run a car tire on the rear and a rear m/c tire on the front... My load rating is close to a ton...LOL -
I'm NO audio expert but I used to have polks before those blew but mine had 4 holes for mounting... If you get one of the tabs under the radio mount and another nut on the oppisite corner your speakers will be fine... They ain't goin anyplace... Be sure to put nuts on the other 2 studs tho so your speaker grille isn't loose... Good Luck

Tom you can buy a pressure tank for like $150 - 200 and they're not hard to replace... Wish I lived closer I'd do it for ya...

There is another clutch upgrade I haven't seen mentioned here and that's the one I went with a few years and about 70,000 miles ago.. That is the Barnett Pressure plate.. I've seen it called overpriced cuz it will cost more than the above mentioned upgrades.. But it is NOT just a heavier spring to use in Yamaha's IMHO weak design... It is an actual automotive type pressure plate to replace the original weaker designed plate.. I changed the friction plates in mine but probably didn't have to.. I've been running Barnetts since the 70s in Shovelheads and BSAs and have never had a failure... I don't know much about the aforementioned upgrades because I've never used them but if you want to do a one time bulletproof clutch install go with the Barnett... Just set it and forget it... Note: It will increase the clutch lever pull at first but you won't notice it after a few rides.. My buddy notices it when he rides mine and his pulls easier with the stock setup.. http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/images/Barnett/BT511-90-10002.jpg
