  1. My RSV uses a 165/80-15...
  2. I found a Kumho while visiting my Bro in Kissimmee, FL... I had to pay $82 for it but this will be my 3rd Kumho and should be good for 20,000 miles... http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/tires/kumho/size/submitZipCode.do?ar=80&rd=15&cs=165&postalCodeSelected=34747
  3. Puff.... puff.... pass
  4. I've been researching the Vredesteins a little and it seems like they're reproductions by Coker Tire.... I guess Coker buys the original tire molds and reproduces old tires... The tread looks the same but I'm not sure the tire construction is the same... FYI they also re-make BFGs and Michelins in the 165-15 size but their prices are up there...
  5. I'm going to be installing my 3rd CT pretty soon... No disadvantage for me riding on them... biggest PITA is getting them mounted... My advice to anyone thinking about going to a CT is you should be willing to get your hands dirty and either assist or supervise with the mounting... I wouldn't just drop my bike and tire off at the shop and tell somebody to mount it up.... Cleaning (to like new) the rim is a good idea and some good tire lube is a MUST... I don't think Vaseline or any kind of grease is a good option... That stuff will stay there until the tire comes off... I would also recommend not going over 80 PSI while mounting your tire... I have heard of tires exploding at 90 PSI.... if it doesn't mount at 80 use some kind of heat to help the bead seat... I had good luck with my Kumhos but can't seem to find them anymore so I'm going to have to try something different... I guess we're lucky we don't have Suzukis... heard some of those guys have had rims explode during mounting...
  6. I know Hyosung makes a pretty good ATM.... let's face it the Koreans have come a long way...
  7. I'll be there working the antique and classic motorcycle auction... http://www.daytonaauction.com/ ... it's NOT at Stetson University this year cuz Bike week got pushed back a week and school is in session that week... it will be at the Fairgrounds in Deland on Rte 44 near I-4...
  8. I did the Barnett pressure plate upgrade a few years ago and I got 75,000 worry free miles on it so far... It pulls a little harder than before but I don't notice it til I ride a stock RS... I've been using Barnetts since the 70s and have never had a failure...
  9. I got about 20,000 out of the Kumhos.... I haven't installed the nexen yet... it seems kind of flimsy to me and I think I heard some horror stories about them... Can't remember exactly what but I scope ALL the forums... I gotta figure out something out.. Gotta do both tires before I can run again... I got a Dunlop 404 Rear for the front...
  10. I've had 2 Kumhos and I did the same as you... Went to a local tire shop and got a Nexen... not diggin the Nexen too much... I remember the Vreds from back in the 70s... They ran them on VW Bugs.. They used to be called 165-15... Which is ALMOST the same as the 165/80-15 but were a little different dimension wise but I remember thinking it will still fit... i think the old size is a bit narrower...
  11. Anyone ever run a Vredestein?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/165-15-165-80-15-VREDESTEIN-SNOW-SNOW-TIRES-/300651135390?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item460034419e http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=300651135390 Looks like it would make a pretty good bike tire... it's a little rounder than most... i coulda used the studs a couple of years ago... LOL
  12. I worked for RM Auctions America in October at the Barber Museum in Birmingham, AL... I thought I was gonna get the call for Vegas but it didn't happen.. I've worked for Bator International auctions the last couple of years during Bike Week in Daytona... Well Bator merged with RM and I guess RM calls the shots now as I didn't get the call... I don't think there's going to be an auction in Daytona this year...
  13. My RSV is an 03 and my higher output stator appears to be just that... It seems to put out more juice than the original... I never ran any heated stuff but I've been running 55W passing lamps pretty much since I got it.. Running in traffic at low RPMs I would end up with a low battery at times with the original stator but didn't happen with the HO stator... As far as removing the plug with the HO stator it's probably a good idea even if you're going with a stock stator... My original stator showed burn marks on the plug.. That plug is barely adequate in ideal situations,,, Add vibration, Water, and other stuff that happens in the real world and it's likely to fail at some point... It's the weak link in a barely adequate charging system IMHO...
  14. The guy is looking for a tech article and he gets a few guys trying to talk him out of replacing his stator.... Maybe he NEEDS a new stator and he wants an upgrade... I'm on my 3rd and both replacements were of the higher output variety and if this one goes I'll get another... Here's the link man... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=993&highlight=stator
  15. No I don't like the backrest... I can't lean back far enough and I don't like hopping over the seat to mount my bike... I have a black backrest..
  16. If you're interested in a Corbin backrest I have one that I don't use that I would sell for $100 plus shipping.... let me know...
  17. I know we are Don... That was for anyone not on my Friend's list...
  18. I'm on Facebook... Hit me up I'll add ya... https://www.facebook.com/MARK.EDDY.MAINEAC
  19. Kumho Power Star 758 165/80R15 http://www.tiremonkey.com/Inventory/Kumho%20-%20758%20Power%20Star%20-%2044%20-%201538713.aspx
  20. I got 77,000 miles on my Barnett with no issues but a little stiffer lever pull... I don't notice it until I ride a friend's bike with a stock clutch,,, Barnett... Set it and forget it...

    rotor covers

I need to sell these things ... I'm living in my truck in FL and I still have the parts... I can't access this site with my phone... I took some pics and someone posted them for me on VR facebook site.. I can't show them here with an internet cafe PC... If anyone's still interested call me on the phone is the best bet 207-323-2784... I don't think I can get to paypal so will probably require a money order or check... check will take longer to clear and I'll need the money to ship them... Thanks, Mark

I'm not comfortable shipping to Canada... they've lost shipments on me before... cost me money..
  24. I wasn't slamming your son in law at all... My mechanic installed my 1st stator and didn't listen to me and used the connector... Well 40,000 miles later I got a charging problem... Guess what?? One of the connectors was completely burnt and gone and the other 2 were scorched pretty good... I hope you have better luck than me.. I wish you well..
  25. I'm on my 2nd High output stator I think the connector prematurely burnt out the 1st one... when i took it apart one of the connectors was completely burnt and gone and the other 2 were barely there... When you have time REMOVE that connector and solder the wires... That connector is barely adequate with a stock stator nevermind a higher output one... It IS the weakest link in your charging system.... Goodbye
