2nd gear question
ctraylor replied to mikexup's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I owned an 83 for about 5 years and put 50,000 miles on it. It started skipping ar around 60,000 miles. I drove it quite hard at times, overall, was the best bike I ever owned. I have an 86 now with 55,000 on it and going strong. -
I'll come, I'll come, if the wife will let me...........

My brother and I built a go cart from one we found in the trash dump. We mounted a Honda 450 engine on it with a commuter rear end. We used 13" Vega tires and rims and rode it with no brakes. That thing would run like hell. I was doing a burn out one day and the chain broke and got wound up on the front sprocket and busted the block on the engine. It was probably a good thing we might have got seriously hurt on that thing. We also put a small block v-8 in a chevy luv truck in the back yard and done all of this in our teens. AAAAHHHHHH the good ole days..........

It would be easy to wire your own. Just wire them inline from your jacket. The only problem is that you would have to have them on for your jacket to work unless you made a jumper to complete the circuit. If you just want to wire your gloves into the bike you would have to install resister inline to cut the voltage down.

Elite 3 vs. Venom's
ctraylor replied to 1sttenor's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have ran both and will have to admit that I got more mileage out of the Elite 3. I had to replace the rear tire every year with the Venoms and this summer I installed an Elite 3 on the rear and it looks like I will get another summer out of that tire. It only looks half worn out. I still have the same Venon front tire and this is my second summer to run it and will probably get another summer also. I usually ride about 10-12 thousand miles a year. -
OK OK I admitt it I am a Lurker, what ever that is, I am also a Venture Rideraholic. I admit I can't stop reading these post. One of the reasons I don't leave a message is that everything I have wanted to know has already been posted. I just do a search and wala there it is. I am lookin forward for the Ralley next August in Harrison. That is only about 40 miles from where I live and I can drive back and forth everyday. It is more important to be a good listener than a good talker. A big hug out to everyone....

Your can make your own for about $40.00. I made my own coat that works great. I have a thread in here somewhere that explains how to make them. Have you searched the threads for heated clothing. It is not that difficult and saves you bundles of money. Mine plugs into the bike and only pulls about 3 amps.

The only time I can tell a difference is if I put in gas that has ethanol in it. I get less milage if the fuel has ethanol. I ran a tank of E-85 through it once and wouldn't idle and barely pulled the mountains in Wyoming where I was riding through.

Turn Down Exhaust Tips
ctraylor replied to bmannon's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just a bigger hammer. Once you break them loose they will fall off. The springs are the only thing holding them on. -
scraping noise again

My front tire sometimes scrapes the front fender especially if I apply the front brake by itself. Just a thought.- 18 replies

That is one of the reasons I suggested Mountain Home as the location it is not a dry county.

Orene and I really enjoyed being with you folks today and yes the food was great. Arrived back into Mountain Home about 6:00 pm just in time to make my son's concert at the Gravel Pit. It is good to finally put a face with some of these names.

It seems like every where the Hells Angels go there is trouble. They came to Eureka Springs to a ralley and there was a shooting then.

I'' try to talk the wife into coming. Are you eating in the Bass Pro Shop restaurant?

It's not on the east coast but Mountain Home, AR where we live is one of the top retirement towns in the U.S. The town sits between two lakes, Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes, we are near 3 rivers one being the White River rated the #1 trout fishing river in the U.S. by some magazines. The taxes are low here and the people are great, schools are phenominal if your siblings want to raise their children here. My wife is the high school counselor here in town. We have a 2000 sq. ft. home on 4 acres and our property taxes are about $900.00 yearly. Retired people get a tax break of about $300.00 I think. Just a nice place to live and we have mountains. P.S. There is a hospital here in town that specializes in the elderly with a heart clinic right next door.

Hey Roy, give me a call on sometime next week and my wife and I could meet you somewhere to have supper. I probably will not have access to a computer after I leave home.

Something strange going on with my bike
ctraylor replied to ediddy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds like maybe something inside the tank intermittenly plugging the line. When you slosh the fuel around it dislodges and runs fine. Just a thought........ -
I think Mountain Home, Arkansas would be a perfect place. This city in in north central Arkansas about 12 miles from the Missouri line. It sits conveniently between Lake Norfork and Bull Shoals lakes that both have multiple camp grounds. We have the White River which is rated the best trout fishing river in the U.S. You can canoe the Buffalo river which is just breath taking and the Norfork River is close where the world record brown trout was caught. I am a teacher and am off all summer so I could help plan and implement the ralley. We are less than 2 hours from Branson if some want to take in the sites there and there is many beautiful roads to ride here. This city caters to many events throught out the year such as the Bucket Bash when T-Buckets converge from all over the U.S.

Is it leagal in your area to install a car tire on a bike? In this part of Canada it is not. Our local PDs' and the RCMP are stopping and checking most all bikes to check for proper drivers permits and bike alterations and the tires are noted in the memo I saw..... Recently myself and 536 other riders did a little ride to raise money for Prostate Cancer...... I have tried to attach a link to some of the pictures..... hope it works. Victoria is realy a small city of a little around 400,000 so to have this many bikes in one place was HUGE. The organizers expected around 250 to join the ride..... Local PD blocked all traffic through our main streets to let us parade..... then we went on a 215km (133 mile) poker run. http://www.motorcycleridefordad.org/...nt.php?doc=534 400,000 A SMALL CITY!!! Man how big are the towns there? I live in a town of about 25,000 and I thought it was a big city. I must have lived a sheltered life.
