Let it rev till the rev limiter cuts you off. I have no real idea of what the top end might be on either of my machines. Mostly because the few times I've crossed 140km/h (about 85 mph) I tend to not look down at the speedo. I'm not interested in speed for speed sake. I will go fast when I have a reason to, but I'm quite sure I'll never reach the top with either bike. Yes, It's a big noisy beast but the rev limiter will keep you from harming a well running machine. Enjoy the ride.

It's a big heavy beast that wants some revs to pull off smoothly. Let it have the gas it wants. You'll never hurt a V4 1300 by burning gasoline through it. My Venture is still new, I'm in Flatrock, about an hour away, if you want a second ear to listen to it, but what you describe sounds like normal behaviour to me. I'm in the member list and the VR assistance list. Always up for a ride, coffee, and possibly truthful, but generally not, tall tales about rides. And, yes, the weather isn't helping. The weather office has a lot of nerve trying to describe this as 'spring'.

very few people seem to use the petcocks on these beasts. I don't, on either of mine. They get sticky/stuck.

I bought my 12 in 12. Yes I knew the model would likely cease the next year. No, I didn't care. 1. There's enough of these beasts around to keep the aftermarket parts availability up. 2. built with 90's technology? So what. I'm built with 50's technology and I still work good. At least I can understand how it works without having to plug it in to a computer. 3. Outdated design and style? It looks to me like a motorcycle is supposed to look. Clean, functional, strong. Some of the newer designs look more like mobile sculptures than bikes. 4. I and, more importantly, my wife, think its the most comfortable 2up ride available. I'd buy it again tomorrow. Get one while you still can.
