  1. Arrgggghhhh! flipping UPS. :headache: My seat's been stalled in Dieppe NB since Saturday Morning. It was working out so perfectly too. The DW is away on business until Friday so as long as it gets here by then I can get everything installed before she gets back. Come on UPS - dispatch the flipping parcel! Also not sure why I needed a Export Scan on a parcel travelling from Ontario to Newfoundland??? 2. Last year I had a V* 950. Not really set up for passengers. She rode with me once, found it uncomfortable to sit on. Hadn't since. This year I traded up to to the RSTD. Had her sit on it before I bought it. She said it was better. That was 4 weeks ago. Yesterday I called her at work to see if she wanted to meet for lunch. She said 'come pick me up'. 10 km across town in traffic. She enjoyed it, but didn't like all the stop & go. Took the highway back. Liked that a lot. Still finds the seat 'iffy'. We'll see when the Ultimate seat set comes in this week.
  3. Old plastic bank card followed by Goo-Gone for the adhesive residue. Plenty of elbow grease required.
  4. Bump just because...
  5. I've just pulled the trigger on the complete set, plus the passenger armrests. Should be here in a couple of days. I liked the reviews, and I like that it's Canadian made. When my wife finds out I've spent considerably more $ on a machine I justified purchasing on the savings in fuel costs, there may be blood in the water. Ah well. Maybe if I explain that the new seat and arm rests are to make it more comfortable for her to ride with me...
  6. This is just my opinion. There's only one me. There are 5 people that depend on me, my wife and 4 children. Sometimes one or another of them is riding as a passenger with me. New tire give or take $150. That's $30 for every person that needs me. It's a no brainer. Replace it.
  7. When I got home there was a letter from Yamaha Canada saying that they had a gift for me. Because I bought a Venture they had sent my dealer an iPod shuffle, 12V charger and audio cable for me to connect it in to the on-board stereo. Nice of them. One problem - I bought an RSTD, not a Venture. I dropped by the dealer with the letter to explain the error so they could return the iPod. Dealer said "Nope. Head office said to give it to you, here you go." So I'm sitting at home that night with a beer in one hand and the TV remote in the other, and my eye falls on the iPod sitting next to my helmet. The germ of an idea begins to form. 20 minutes and some duct tape later and this the result: (best part is - no cassette player lol)
  8. Wasn't sure if there might be some problem with 'advertising'. Atlantic Recreation, Mount Pearl Newfoundland Canada
  9. No, I'm not kidding. They played fair on the price negotiation. When the time came for first service they got it in at the appointment time, and out when they promised, for a fair price. Over the last few days I'd been hearing a ticking in the rear that sounded a lot like what has been described here as the 'spline problem'. Drove by the dealer, spoke to the service guy, who called a technician out to listen. The kid (Highly Qualified Yamaha Trained Technician) (I'm 51 - everyone looks like a kid) listened for a minute and said "Yup. I know what that is." Went in and got a copy of the bulletin describing it and the fix. Explained the problem in detail, and what he would do to remedy it. Assured me that driving it wouldn't damage the machine in the short term, but I should make an appointment to get it seen to. Went back around to the service desk. While I was bringing my bike back to the parking lot the kid (Technician) had gone out and briefed the service writer. when I got back to the service desk my apointment was all written up. We agreed on a day to get it in and I was promised 'first in first out' if I'd like to wait on the day. Did I mention I like my dealer?
  10. Nothing I would call a whine yet. (1800km and climbing). There is a quiet ticking sound coming from the rear when coasting at low speeds. Can't be heard over the engine noise except at idle.
  11. I'm averaging 41.4 with imperial gallons. US gallons would be just over 31. Mostly in town, and NL is fairly hilly.
  12. In sympathy.... All four of mine get an extra hug tonight.
  13. That price is nuts. A carb sync price posted on the dealer's wall here in NL - $39.95.
  14. There have to be motorcycles in heaven because riding is as close to heaven as I've found here. He's just riding a distant road. Prayers sent.

  16. In my experience unused = unmaintained
  17. http://www.sarasotatrailers.com/uploads/Siesta%20Full%20Page(2).pdf Has anyone looked at one of these in person? It's caught my interest enough that I'm almost ready to pull the trigger...
  18. A Harely at 162? How long did they have to wait for the rest of the parts to catch up? What kind of truck was towing the trailer it was on?
  19. That's not food. That's what food eats.
  20. 2009 RSTD new off the dealer's lot 3 weeks ago. (exactly 1, count em twice, 1 km on the clock when I rolled it out of the showroom. Just passed 1400 and climbing. I traded a V* 950 on it, and oh wow. Took me a while to figure out that the V4 likes to spin fast, but once that idea kicked in..... what a ride. You're going to love it. If you can find a new - in the box - buy it. The 5 yr unlimited mileage warranty is a huge advantage.
  21. Wouldn't that be 8 off?
  22. I'd buy both - put me down for 2 each size, both types.
  23. A Harley part less than $40? Thats gotta be a typo... ( Sorry, I couldn't resist )
  24. Prayers for all affected...
  25. Thanks G&V. I'm more than happy to wait a week, to see what the MC patch turns out like...
