Or - just suggesting - we could talk about motorcycles....
-
WHY do you say that?

What would be hilarious is if the Thread Killer thread became the longest living front page thread.

I've got the Ultimate Seats 4 pc set on my TD: http://www.ultimateseats.ca/ A little pricey, but I swear by it. Did St. John's NL to Montreal QC and back a couple of springs ago. 2x600mi days each way plus 300 or so on day 3. Most of the gas stops I did the pay at the pump thing and didn't even get off the bike. Still got the stock seats on the Venture. That thing is pretty comfortable out of the box.

11 C in St. John's NL. I took the day off for spring cleaning, but the only cleaning I'm gonna get done is cleaning the bike out of the driveway. I'll put it back in the driveway later. I'm gone riding.

The season is getting better. This is what the motorcycle parking lot looked like at my office this morning. 17km from my house to here. It feels good to be back in the saddle.

Nah, the War of 1812 made the point. They won't come north for another arse-kicking.

It's finally spring-like enough in eastern Newfoundland to risk getting the bikes out. My 4 bikes overwinter in an 8-12 unheated shed. Batteries are indoors on a maintainer. This was to be the weekend! Saturday was icky, but Sunday looked more promising. Laundry and chores, visiting family ate the morning, but the afternoon looked good. Cooked and ate lunch, then headed out to the shed. And it started raining. Close up the shed and head in for more chores. Rain stops, bright sunshine. Son and I go push the bikes out and reinstall the batteries. All 4 start no problem. Ride each to the end of the driveway and park. Now its time to cook supper. Supper's been had, so I grab my jacket and helmet and head out for a real ride. Look at the thermometer - outside temp has dipped below freezing, so there's risk of ice. Ride cancelled. My first ride of the year totalled 160 FEET on 4 bikes. Sure hope this season gets better.

Hmmm. USA: 2013 - 1776 = 237 yrs CAN: 2013 - 1867 = 146 yrs Canada's finest province did not join Confederation until 1949. CAN: 2013 - 1949 = 64 yrs Depending on how you count, then, Canada had either 91 yrs (237 - 146) or 173 yrs (237 - 64) example of how to be a modern democratic state even before Canada was founded. I will leave the question of whether that is a good example (or not) and whether Canada should follow that example (or not) to persons wiser than me to decide.

I'm a simple man. Manual says to change when changing oil. Cost is negligible. Cost of replacing engine if the worst happens is OMG!!!! Seems pretty simple.

Trebec is an EX-Canadian. US citizenship. Canadian born? Yes. Canadian? No.

Well done you. Enjoy the ride. At 45000 it's probably just about broken in.

Touring Deluxe, happier with a 2007 then a 1997?

Can't comment on the 97 I have an 09 with 27000 absolutely trouble free kilometers, including an 8k trip pulling a trailer. I upgraded to a Venture BECAUSE of how much I like the power and performance of these bikes, but, somehow the TD keeps sneaking out of the shed under me. Around town I like the TD. Longer trips I prefer the venture, but it really is a coin flip sometimes which one gets to leave the driveway. -
A large bee went SPLAT on my windshield, oozed up with the wind, fell over the top and bounced off my chest into my lap. I pulled over, looked down at his crushed, shaking body and asked "Mr. Bee, when you hit my windshield what was the last thing that went through your mind?" He looked up and, with his last quavering breath, gasped "My arse." Have a fun day, everyone.

Hmmm. It might also be why 1st gens are still around....

St. John's Newfoundland. Oldest City in North America. Bloody "Johnnie come lately" western Canadians (Torontonians) think they own the place. And YES, they are WESTERN Canadians. Everyhing in North America is "Western" compared to Newfoundland. While I'd never say anything bad about Toronto, (one must be polite, after all) it seems quite clear that if God ever decided to give the world an enema you could get a good view of the hose from the CN Tower.

Im in. Looks like I own the award for "Most Northeast North American"

I'm not quite sure I agree fully. A National Anthem is a symbol. A Flag is a symbol. The Parliament Building in Ottawa is a symbol. The Governor General is a symbol. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is a symbol. What matters is the meaning we ascribe to a symbol, and that the meaning is shared. I have heard our National Anthem played by The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band. I have heard is played on a street-corner by a kid with a tin whistle. I have heard it played by an elementary school band. The quality of performance varies widely, but it's always "Oh Canada" and my spine snaps straight, my head comes up, and I completely automatically assume the position of "Attention". The symbol is important. It should be presented respectfully, in accordance with the importance of what it means, but we cannot lose sight of the meaning the symbol carries. The words of our anthem vary betwwen our official languages, but the symbol, the meaning remains. If I should encounter someone who chooses to 'interpret' out national anthem differently, varying the music to suit different instruments, but they present it as "Oh Canada", the meaning of the symbol is preserved in my heart, where it should be.

Maylast year I pulled a trailer from Flatrock, NF to St. Jean sur Richelieu QC and back. Total just over 5000km. As far as handling, acceleration I never knew the trailer was back there. I could feel the difference in braking. Added a bit to my gas bill, though. I bought my hitch from a member on this site, Carbon One I think. Listed in the "Member Vendors".

I did the 2nd and 3rd emblems. I'm in for a hat using either/both. Golf&Venture handled the production of the patches.

Wearing a helmet IS a choice, as long as you are willing to accept the possible legal and health ramifications of your choice. If you are lucky, you may just pay a fine. If you are unlucky you may pay the ferryman. I dumped my bike 19th of September. I was wearing full gear. Broken hand, 2 ribs, and most seriously a frontal lobe lesion. Got out of hospital 10 December and I'm about back to normal now. I'll be back riding once the weather clears, in my new helmet. The old one was badly damaged in the accident, but it saved my life.
