Great ideas guys. I think by August we can have a simple & easy plan to get together any of the days a person is there. We might even plan breakfast every day @ 8 - 9 @ the high school. That way if you come to breakfast you could meet VR's you don't even know. Maybe we could get a designated table or 2. tx2sturgis do you remember the organizer @ the high school? If you do would you make contact with her to see if we can get a couple designated tables we could post here?

This is a great start. We can exchange phone #'s & when it gets closer to the Rally we can start figuring out where & when to meet. Maybe a daily meeting place & time. That's how it was arranged in Cody at the International Rally last summer. Seemed to work real well.

I was just writing to DirtSquirt about his bike and asked him if and when he was going to be in Sturgis this coming year of 2012. I mentioned starting a new thread where we could post our dates to be in Sturgis so we can get together while we're there. I'd really like to meet some more of the VentureRider Brothers in person. Phoneman1981 & I met quite a few of the members in Cody last summer @ the International Rally. We are planning on being in Sturgis both weekends this coming summer. Let's get together next summer & have a Mini Rally in Sturgis. Any Ideas??????

Thanks for the extra photos!! Greatest looking Venture I've ever seen. Are you going to Sturgis in '12? I'd sure like to see the bike in person & meet you. Maybe we could all let everyone know when we are going to be in Sturgis so we can meet some new Venture buddies. (Phoneman1981 & I are going to be in Sturgis both weekends of the Rally.) Most of us Westerners won't get to go to International Rally this year, so maybe we could have a mini Rally in South Dakota. Maybe we need a new thread for the idea. GREAT LOOKING BIKE!!

Great looking bike. Doesn't even look like a Venture. I really like the solo look. Post some more pics if you have them.

Dano, Glad to see you posting again. You might not recognize me or Mark Shields (Phoneman 1981). We watched you put the new rectifier on a bike when we were all in Cody. We were totally in awe of how you just cut the wires & reconnected the new ones!! Great to have you back!! -
My bet would be on which would make it home & which would need a mechanic?

Rick, I spoke with you last summer just before Sturgis. I need to get both of my seats the mod job. I have a 2000 MM RSV with creme colored seats & a 2006 Midnight RSTD. Both seats make the bottom of my legs ache & my butt hot & sore. Should I call you before I send the seats? I can send them both at the same time as Mark Shields has loaned me his extra seat. Thanks for letting us know you are available.

Thanks Don, Sent paypal for 5 bells.

I would like to order 5. It the most fun gift you can give a friend. Mark gave me my 1st one for the Venture & my Daughter & Son-in-law gave the bell for my RSTD. Really special gifts of friendship.

Like a lot of other VR's have said. Vent & we will listen. Also been there done that. 1980 wife ran off with golf partner, left me with 7, 9 & 12 yr old kids. Lost everything in the process, but kept the kids on the right path & through school. Met my soul mate after 5 yrs of single parenting & we raised our 5 kids together. We then had a 11, 12, 13, 14, & 16 yr olds. Let me tell you what you are doing for your kids is the best thing for them & you. It will be the most satisfying thing you can look back on & be glad you did. The kids have to be 1st priority. All of our kids are successful & pretty well adjusted, have given us 7 grandkids aged 20 to 1. Keep up the good work it is worth it. Don't let your angry thoughts of her & what she's doing consume you. One of these days you will get to see what goes around come around & it is sweet!!!

I would be interested in 6 of the stickers if we find out where they are or who wants to get them made again. Let me know if we need a new volunteer to make them & offer them for sale. C YA, Patrolman46

Well here comes another thread about mufflers. I have been experimenting with different mufflers on my 2006 RSMTD. I bought a set of HD mufflers here on the site. Got them & installed them on the bike. I liked the sound, but it wasn't as loud as I really wanted. So I read about all the mods that have been mentioned & tried here on many threads & posts. I considered all of them & decided I didn't want to mutilate what the factory had built as the best engineering possible at the time. So I found another set of slip-ons here on the site, (Thanks, Doug!! ). They are Rush slash cuts. I got them about 2 weeks ago & have been so busy I didn't get them put on until today. WELL, let me tell you these pipes are EXACTLY the sound I was wanting. They remind me of my first pickup with a V-8 motor, (1963) I put dual glass-packs on. Great sound on acceleration & not too loud just going down the road. If you want them to be quiet just back out of the throttle, & if you want some noise just give her the gas & let it wrap. Well anyway I am REALLY happy with the new pipes & will put the HD pipes on my 2000 RSV MM. They will be just right for the RSV that my wife & I ride 2 up. She's not in to the noise. Thanks for all the info I have found here including the drawings for the adapter plate for the HD mufflers & the whereabouts of the HD muffler clamps. C Ya, Patrolman46

Last time my warden left she went to Ireland for 2 weeks with her cousin. I just happened to find a RSTD on ebay that was the right price I couldn't pass up & guess what. 1 week after she got home a Black RSTD was delivered. Man she will be careful not to leave me home alone again. C Ya, Patrolman46

That feeling stupid is just a matter of time if you are doing things that expose yourself to mistakes. You just told us about it. Nice thing about this group is that this thread will probably fill up with stupid things we've done, just to make you feel better. I can't think of one right now, but that's probably because of my age. Good luck with the repairs & THANK GOD you didn't have an accident due to the flat tire. Could have been worse. C Ya, Patrolman46 Hey where's my Patrolman? & Nurse? -
Hope it works out for you Brian!! It's always nice to have some "new" iron in the garage. Makes all the work seem not so bad. Great looking machine! Good Luck! Keep us posted C Ya, Patrolman46

I just had a thought about the number of attendees in the NY area. does anybody have a state by state demographics of the membership? I would guess that over 1/3 of the total membership lives in an area equal to the same area as WY, where the Int Rally was held last year. You may have a hundred or more come to a rally in the northeast. At least I would hope it would be that well attended. I'm new to the club so I don't know the history of the Int Rallies. What has been the historical attendance to a Rally on the East Coast? Phoneman19 & I would like to come, but would have to use all of our vacation to come to the Rally in NY. You're right about Darien Lake not being cheap: motel starts @ $195/day, cabins @ $295/day, RV's @ $270/day and camp sites @ $95/day. That sure doesn't fit my budget. Can you imagine Black Owl, Condor, Phoneman19 & I being quiet @ 11:00PM? Out we go!!! Just some thoughts. C Ya, Patrolman46

Wishing you good luck with your new purchase. I think these bikes are tougher than we think & sometimes we overthink & overworry these problems. (I sure hope so anyway) Last January I bought a 2000 RSV MM Limited Edition from a dealer in Ohio. I didn't get to ride it much this spring because of wet & cold spring. I took it into the dealer here locally to get it serviced. (Only 11,000 mi on an 11 year old bike) When they removed the air filters there mouse nests in each of the filter housings & the filters had been eaten clean down to the metal screen. Man I was just sick when the mechanic showed this mess to me thinking about the dirt roads I run every day to get to the pavement. The mechanic said he thought the mouse nest probably filtered the intake air enough so that the motor wasn't hurt. Well the moral of the story in my mind is to completely service a used bike when you get it home so you know exactly where the bad points are & if you can fix them. I have 15,000 mi on the bike now & it seems to run just fine so I have quit expecting it to lay down on me when I get 1000 mi from home. Glad you mentioned the brake & clutch oil. I will put that on my to do list. ASAP!! Also bought a 2006 RSTD new & in the crate (factory holdover) in May & guess what I did when the bike only had 15 mi on it. I pulled the air filters just to make sure the mice didn't do the same thing to this bike that had been in a warehouse for 5 years. (Unassembled) The filters looked like new. Brand new 2006 RSTD has the rear wheel "grunch, grunch" noise that so many have written about there on this site. The mechanic (local Yamaha Dealer) says he will fix it when we change the rear tire @ 12,000 mi. Don't know if I should wait that long to fix the noise. Already have 5,000 mi on the RSTD because I ride it to work every day. Enough rambling!! C Ya, Patrolman 46 Hi Phoneman19 (Happy Birthday Early) HAHA
