Hello Wayne, I bought the Marshall mod a few weeks ago but will not be installing it on my 99 Venture (second generation) because I just bought an other motorcycle. Zumo 550 is the way to go, mount it on your handle bar with the Moto cradle, hook it up to the battery, to your auxilliary audio input and let it guide you to your destination. The 550 let you create your own routes, let you exchange routes with fellow riders, has MP3 reader, picture viewer, bluetooth, XM capabilities . Great unit for bikers.

The Zumo 550 has an internal memory of 1.2 Gig and has an extention slot for additional memory that can contain maps, mp3, and pictures. For sure each and every model of gps has different characteristics and options. As far as updating the maps I did a pre-test with my Zumo and the ability to load new maps with Mapsource is present the only thing I didn't do is actually complete the process, reloading over 1 gig of data in the gps could take some time.

If you are a Mapsource user you will have to install City Navigator V8 (I presume this is what we are talking about) on your hard disk, then connect your Zumo, then select all the maps you want with Mapsource, then download all those maps into your gps. I beleive that the actual maps in your gps will be overwritten, this is the way it works with my Gpsmap 60CSX but I have not tried it yet with my Zumo 550. (latest maps aboard)

Hello again, Please note that there are 2 articles on the main switch on that site, both under Tech Lib, Second gen, Electrical. Also please note that removing the 2 screws, holding the switch assembly on the bike, could be quite a challenge, I remember having a hard time and having to use a punch to start them unscrew. (blue locktite used)

I had the same issue with the ignition switch on my 99 RSV, what I did is I removed the switch opened the bottom, clean the contacts (they were pitted), and reinstalled. Working fine since. I had the opportunity to test drive a Spyder a few weeks back and really enjoyed the ride. I own a Bombardier ATV and I my personnal feeling is that it drives like an ATV except the Spyder is more powerfull and stick to the road in tight corners, thanks to their advance technologie. Good acceleration, good suspention, solid engine, very neat looking, advance abs and stability systems, priced right (around $19000) and you don't have to worry..... you will never drop it. On the negative side.... not much protection against wind, not much comfort for the passenger and limited options available for the moment. I wouldn't replace my RSV with a Spyder, it's a different class machine, but I would own both if I had the $$$.

Good question, the CB antenna is on the left hand side when you are sitting down on the bike. -

Hi George, My replies in BLUE I have open the fairing and reconnect the CB cord (yellow), the Ext lead (white) the headset lead(Red) and put some dielectric grease in those connectors. I also did the same for all connections under the passenger's seat. Not sure what to do next!!! -

I can hear perfectly, I don't have a swr meter but the antenna has never been touch, and I am not sure the swr adjustment will make a big difference,... correct me if I am wrong. -

Hi gibvel Do you know if there is a way to verify that the antenna connection is good? What do you do with this connection when you have to remove the CB unit to get it repair? -
Hello all, Anybody knows how to uncouple the CB antenna base from the attached wire? I tried unscrewing the metal connector at the end of the wire... no go, I tried pulling on it... no go. I don't want to break anything and I didn't find a way to remove it, anyone has done it??? I am actually chasing a CB transmit problem :sick:and want to make sure the antenna has a solid connection but as I said I can't get at it. Help and Thanks Hermann

I am very curious to know if you found a solution for your problem and if yes.... what was it??? I have a similar problem and don't have an answer yet. (my audio signal, on the transmit side, is very weak) -
Hello all, I am trying to locate the schematics and wiring diagrams for the radio and the CB on my 99 RSV but I am ending nowhere. The sticker on the radio says: ------------------------------ YAMAHA Model ER-1129V 4XY-88132-00 Clarion P\N 286-9182-00 ------------------------------- CB: I didn't remove the trunk to see if there a label on the CB unit but I am sure there is one , is there someone who has the info?????? ( Yamaha model, Clarion model, P\N's etc.. ) Your help in locating the wiring diagrams will be greatly appreciated, I am having a CB transmit problem and I don't seems to be able to fix it with the recommended procedures. (cable connections=ok, mic direction=ok, antenna=ok ) Note that the intercom portion works great so I know both mics and both switches are working fine. The problem with the CB is that the audio portion of the transmit signal is very weak (modulation), other people can hardly hear me but I can hear them clearly. Help! Thanks, Hermann

Hi all, Please note that I have the same problem with both helmets, 2 different microphones. The problem is present with the driver and with the passenger, the microphone is facing the mouth and no change has been done to the antenna. Dielectric grease was used on connections under the seat and some connections in the fairing. Anybody knows where I can find detailed wiring diagram as well as schematics for the venture cb??? like I mentionned before I would like to be able to trace the mic audio down to the cb and also check the cb itself. Hello all, I have been trying to debug a cb problem on my bike but I don't have a detailed wiring diagram so I can zoom down on possible cause. Yes.. I splitted the fairing and used dielectric grease on contacts, I didn't open all connectors just the one pertaining to the communication between the driver and the passenger. I think know which one it is because I installed a mic-mute a little while back but I may be wrong. Is it possible that the mic-mute will cause my transmit problem? Here is the symptom: The cb transmit rf level seems to be ok but the modulated audio is extremely weak so other people can hardly hear me. All they hear is noise and some time my voice in the background. The communication between the driver and passenger is working fine. I think that both transmit switches (driver and passenger) are OK and that both mics are working fine because we can communicate between driver and passenger no problem. So I am looking for some advice and also for a place where I can get detailed wiring diagram so I can follow the audio signal coming from the microphones. The Yamaha service manual doesn't help there is no way, for example, to follow the mic wiring diagram from the helmet to the cb unit. One last question... where can I find the schematics for my cb?? My front brakes are also noisy, today I decided to grease the pads to help reduce this grinding noise... hope it will help.
